Markey Malarkey: US nuclear disarmament will discourage North Korea

Leave it to a lib to come up with something like this:

North Korea has evidently been conducting nuclear device tests, and the timing couldn’t be better, of course, as President Obama is expected to call for a reduction in nuclear arms tonight in his State of the Union address. Mass. Rep. Ed Markey is totally on-board. In fact, he’s insisting that reducing the U.S. supply of nuclear weapons is a sure-fire way to convince North Korea to follow suit. Because, moral authority:

“North Korea’s brazen nuclear weapons test will only help to highlight President Obama’s leadership to reduce our nuclear weapons stockpile,” said Rep. Markey. “Slashing America’s nuclear weapons arsenal will give our country the continuing moral authority to push back against the rogue nations and superpowers that want to build more nuclear weapons.”

“While North Korea’s people starve, their leaders continue to feed geopolitical instability by conducting these nuclear tests. By reaching broad agreements to reduce global nuclear stockpiles, America and our allies will finally be able to isolate North Korean and force their leaders to come to the negotiating table,” said Rep. Markey.

Markey’s plan for nuclear disarmament is known as the SANE (Smarter Approach to Nuclear Expenditures) Act. The irony, like his common sense, clearly escapes him.

Mmmm, I smell a hot steamy Nuclear Assault Weapons Ban brewing in the bowels of the Democratic Caucus…

    • DouginCO

      Not a good smell

  • BristolGOP Backup

This guy is the front runner for Kerry’s seat. I’m (again) mortified to be from Massachusetts.

    • Patrick Dennehy

      Right there with ya

    • mickeyco

At least you’re not from IL.

    • V the K

My theory that Massachusetts voters hate the rest of America and so punish us with their congressional delegation is validated once again

      • TugboatPhil

I don’t think it’s so much that they hate the rest of the country. I think they just want to show California that you don’t have to be a really big state to be intentionally self-destructive.

      • Iacobus

And I, again, apologize. I do as much as I can but I can’t stop the avalanche of idiots.

As a token of gratitude, it warms my heart that I will no longer be a denizen of this once-proud-but-now-pathetic state in the near future. They can have their little empire of dirt since they think it’s so awesome.

“I say we pull out and nuke ’em from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.”

    • Rabid

      Or a good old-fashioned Carpet Bombing…with MOABs…

  • GoSellCrazySomeplaceElse

Yeah, and more government spending will bring in more money to the government. I understand you can’t teach common sense, but…

  • Lamontyoubigdummy

Right about now, I don’t know if Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave or just plain laughing his ass off.

    I’ll check with Gorbachev.

    I bet he”l know.

  • Patrick Dennehy

That policy, puts way too much faith in N. Korea’s ability to make rational decisions. Considering, some of the statements Kim Jong Un has made. He’s been vying for legitimacy since he became Supreme Leader.

    • Ted Holleran

The policy, that allows you too comment, here puts way too much faith in your. Ability to write English, sentence. You is vying for legibility.

      • Patrick Dennehy

I will let my comment history speak for my ability to write a sentence.

I do have dyslexia, so any help you could give would be appreciated. I often insert commas incorrectly and misspell words, but I am trying. I am open to critiquing if it will help me become a better writer.

        • TomJB

Apparently, for some, grammatical errors and misspellings disqualify the actual points made by the poster… *sigh*

          • Rabid

But it’s ok if HE makes grammatical errors…

    • Rabid

      N. Korea making a rational decision…that’s right up there with Obama Transparacy.

  • Guest

It’s obvious he’s left his bed without his helmet and bumped his head again. Poor dumb b*st*rd

  • Lord Foggybottom

It will discourage North Korea, alright. It will discourage them from attacking South Korea and go right for the United States.

  • Hal Burton

And disarming police will eradicate armed robberies, in opposite land.

  • tjcuzns

    Well Bless his heart.

  • Adam Baumb

Let’s carry this idiot’s logic to its conclusion: disarming will force bad guys to give up their weapons. Like Chicago, North Korea will recognize the moral imperative and abandon any pursuit to threaten or attack those nations that acted on this imperative because it is the right thing to do. Like Chicago, North Korea will comply with grace and aplomb to demands there be no threat of violence or war. (wow…liberal logic is not very logical). The carnival huckster, if he were anything but a lying fraud, should stand on that podium in our nation’s capitol and inform the North Koreans if their aim is to be obliterated in a matter of minutes, continue this foolish attempt to acquire WMD. If a dog barks at you through the fence, but is contained by the fence, it is only a barking dog, obnoxious and annoying. If the fence somehow breaks, and the barking dog enters your yard, you take action. North Korea, your barking dog is perilously close to breaking through the fence. Your days are numbered — millions of your starving and imprisoned citizens will die in a cataclysmic moment of unfathomable violence. Keep barking. We’re taking the safety off our weapons.

    • Ted Holleran

Thanks for the history lesson! I had completely forgotten about the time we wen to war with Chicago!

      • Adam Baumb

If that city sends any more politicians like the carnival huckster and dead fish to Washington, I’ll personally send the North Koreans grid co-ordinates for Lake Shore Drive.

  • Tangchung

Yeah give a bully your lunch money and he will never bother you again uh huh.

  • dodfireman

By no means defending him. But we do have enough nuclear weapons to kill everyone on earth more than once. They are an expensive weapon system to maintain, even slashing half of our stockpile will leave us enough to “defend” ourselves.
