Stay classy: WaPo’s Chris Cillizza tweets ‘Pope Benedict, following Palin’s lead, resigns’

That’s right. The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza used the announcement that Pope Benedict XVI is stepping down at the end of the month as an excuse to slam Sarah Palin, and the pope himself.

Man, does she live rent free in their heads!

The mocking was swift, sure and righteous.

Of course!

Stay classy, indeed. Don’t hold your breath, though. It is a Washington Post reporter and all.

No. You don’t “get” it.

  • GaryTheBrave

WaPo needs to ensure their employees use a different Twitter account when they tweet in their own name. It makes them look bad. Oh, never mind.

  • MJ Pauls

Is he saying the atheists were so intent on destroying him that he resigned for the good of the people he serves? ‘Cause that’s what happened with Sarah.

    • bluewaternavy

No, he’s not in good health-after all he was no youngster when he was elected. Takes a good amount of guts to do so…

      • MJ Pauls

I know. I was referring to The Fix and his reference to Sarah Palin, since she stepped down when the liberals were intent on destroying her and she was unable to perform her job to the best of her ability. :)

        • bluewaternavy

My Bad! What you say about palin was correct-but the left won’t see that logic. Or that of Benedict-who feels he’s no longer up to the job. Both decisions take guts-and show the fortitude of those that make them

  • Elaine

I seriously do not get the left’s total obsession with Sarah Palin! She did the right thing and stopped taking a pay check when she had no time to actually do her job any longer. She quit because the they were constantly attacking her with bogus accusations and frivolous law suits. Obama has stayed on the payroll his entire political career as a full time campaigner, when he should have quit. The Pope resigning due to lack of energy at his old age has nothing at all to do with Palin. Palin derangement syndrome seems to spreading and becoming an epidemic.

    • Corey Dennison

I’ve found that you can explain the resons for Palin’s actions–correct and honorable as they were–to lefties (and some conservatives for that matter) until you’re blue in the face. It won’t have an effect on them.

    • V the K

Sarah Palin allowed two “inconvenient” children to be born that the left believes should have been aborted; this makes her a blasphemer against the Holy Sacrament of Abortion.

    • BlueGood

“Palin derangement syndrome seems to spreading and becoming an epidemic”.

Yes, where is the frickin’ WHO (World Health Organization)…oh, they must be busy putting out false DOOM for H1N1 or SARS or pimples on Pigmy Hermaphrodites….

OMG is that racist because “Aphro” is in that word??…

  • BeeKaaay

Leftwingwackos are bloodthirsty. Here they are drooling over the Pope’s resignation, they really want him dead.

    • bluewaternavy

Hypocrisy defines them, They call for ‘inclusion’ and ‘respect’ then they say stuff like this.

  • Steve_J

That’s what he learned. I would have thought he might have learned he’s not funny.

  • Tangchung

Didn’t Hillary, Pennetta and Chu just resign?
Add Jesse Jackson Jr to the list.

    • TugboatPhil

Obama resigned as a US Senator, less than one third the way through his first term.

      • borninatrailer

That would be a good example if the Pope were resigning to become the Super Pope or something.

        • TugboatPhil

Leaving an office before the term is up is the same abdication of responsibility regardless of the reason. The choice of Obama to run for President was for his own reasons. He still left his state without a Senator before the next scheduled election.

      • cbenoistd

No he didn’t, any more than McCain resigned to run for President. If you’re going to call out Obama, do so for his winning the presidential election and then trying to bankrupt the woman he’d already beaten, who was the opposing vice-presidential candidate. Future generations won’t believe he was allowed to get away with this.

        • TugboatPhil

Bill, regardless of the reason, if he had NOT resigned his post as Senator from Illinois, he’d just be completing his first term, and Blago wouldn’t be in a federal pen…at least not for that offense.

It’s an exercise in words, but resigning is resigning, for whatever the reason. I said the same thing when Palin stepped down and everyone was crapping on her. Nothing has changed about the meaning of the word in the interim.

  • Well Done

“does she live rent free in their heads”!! love it. stealing it.

  • LL1885

Well seeing as it is her birthday today, he stabbed two things the Left hates with one tweet. Expedient!

  • notenoughtime

Further indication that journalism and media outlets no longer higher professionals. If their resumes are filled with You Tube videos, they are hired!

  • Joe W.

Unbelievable how liberal maggots cannot let go of their misguided and pathetic hatred of Gov. Sarah Palin. Proof that liberalism is a disease, and there is NO cure for it. On a side note…HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Gov. Palin!! Thank you for fighting the good fight in defense of America and our liberty and traditional values.

  • Jackptg

Sarah Palin served 32 out of 48 months; the same percentage that Obama served of his Senate term (not including the two-year break he spent campaigning) and accomplished everything she set out to do in that time.

Sarah Palin resigned because she recognized the cost that the frivolous ethics complaints were having on her state , and she saw how much of her staff’s time and her own time were forced to deal with those issues.

That entire campaign of BS lawsuits was meant to do nothing but hamstring the governor’s office and bankrupt Sarah Palin.

She saw that if she stayed on as Governor it would continue to cost the state millions of dollars in wasted time and resources to defend against false and maliciously ethics complaints and doom it to gridlock.

Those frivolous lawsuits had already cost the state of AK close to $2 million; Sarah Palin had over $500,000 dollars in legal fees.
Sarah Palin knew that for the sake of her state, her country, her family, and her political voice, it would be best if she stepped aside from the governorship.

In an article Sarah Palin said:

“I said, ‘Enough. Political adversaries and their political friends in the media will not destroy my State, my administration, nor my family. Enough.’ I knew if I didn’t play their game any longer, they could not win. I would not retreat, I would instead reload, and I would fight for what is right from a different plane.”

She promised to keep the frivolous anti-Palin law suits away from the Alaskan people and to be more effective on the stump ( supporting candidates , fundraising, etc)
Sarah Palin was truthful on both accounts!

After the 2008 election Sarah Palin helped lead Republicans to the greatest congressional victory in several generations during the 2010 election;she has endorsed 73 candidates for the US House of Representatives and Senate; state governors and attorney generals. Her success rate is at 69%.
18 out of 20 targets in her Take Back the 20 campaign ; this is a 90% success rate!

Sarah Palin also had a very strong hand in the party’s few successes during this election . Sarah Palin campaigned for constitutional conservatives llike Ted Cruz, Deb Fischer, Jeff Flake, Paul Gosar, resulting in 5 conservatives being elected to the Senate and 32 conservatives to the House.

Sarah Palin has also penned commentary on such topics as the unrest in Libya, the protests in Wisconsin, Obama’s 2012 budget proposal and State of the Union address, getting tough with Iran and standing with Iranians who seek democracy, challenging the specifics of President Obama’s energy policy, the omnibus spending bill, defeating the New START, opposition to state bailouts, tax policy, a message to Republican freshmen in Congress, opposition to quantitative easing, and more.

She has repeatedly been a leading voice—via television appearances and speaking engagements—against the dangers of ObamaCare and the risks of President Obama’s approach to energy.

  • Maxx

The obsession liberals have with Sarah borders on the perverse.

    • La’Milton

oh, you must not have seen the 2008-election porn: Nailin’ Palin

    • La’Milton

oh, you must not have seen the 2008-election porn: Nailin’ Palin

  • Leon

Yeah, why use Palin to sully the Pope’s name, when there’s more than enough molested children to do that already?

    • Corey Dennison

  • HalleysFifth

“Pope Benedict, following Sarah Palin’s lead, resigns.”

True, in a way. They both had noble motives for resigning.

  • Proteios

The guy seems surprised that people would be upset. Does the left not realize that most of us listening to their inane nonsense about inclusiveness while calling anyone who disagrees hate mongers is getting old…..and they consider themselves the intellectuals. Yikes!
