Ben LaBolt says media’s fawning treatment of Obama is ‘GOP myth’

What did Peggy Noonan write that has the Obama campaign’s Ben LaBolt playing the PolitiFact home edition? Noonan wasn’t impressed with Steve Kroft’s swooning “60 Minutes” tongue-bath of the president and Hillary Clinton, an embarrassing spectacle that Twitter quickly rebranded as “60 Shades of Gray.” Even Fox News political analyst Kirsten Powers, a Democrat, declared it nothing less than an example of “state-run media.”

Noonan piles on in her new column, calling Kroft’s interview “a truly scandalous example of the genre. It was so soft, so dazzled, so supportive, so embarrassing.”

But was Kroft’s interview business as usual for the mainstream media? LaBolt says “studies” prove otherwise. Those studies turn out to be one study published by the Pew Research Center last April. The focus of that study was the media’s propping up of Mitt Romney at the expense of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich following Romney’s primary victory in Michigan. What does that have to do with Obama and the kid glove treatment? The study found that “the media have been treating [Obama] more as a presidential candidate than a chief executive for months. Since November, nearly two-thirds (63%) of the coverage about Obama were framed around political strategy and momentum.”

Whoa, harsh! In covering the campaign, the press at times treated Obama as a candidate. Take that, Noonan. Myth? Busted.

A myth? If Obama ever stopped walking suddenly, the only thing we would see from the White House press corps and liberal media would be the bottom of their loafers dangling out of his arse. Picture Obama motoring across Highway 61 in a Harley with the entire leather-helmeted liberal media in his sidecar, goggle-adorned with thumbs up and that pretty much sums it up.
During election year 2012, Obama could do no wrong whilst liberal media had Mitt Romney leaping out of South African waters, biting the heads off baby seals. Yeah Ben, it’s a myth alright.

    • Guest

Obama would never be cool enough or even know how to ride a Harley. More like a clown car.

    • Elaine

I always wonder how they can even say this crap with their lips stuck to BO’s a$$?

  • RichardBlaine

Studies show that studies are cr@p.

    • Jim Russell

However, studies showing MSM reporting is crap are not cr@p. 😉

      • BristolGOP Backup

The media run the government now. The old way of having the government run the media is so 1951, tovarisch.

    • Finrod Felagund

Didn’t you know that 78% of all cited figures are invented on the spot?

      • David

That is 98 percent true. LOL

        • Corey Dennison

47% of all people know that!

        • bluewaternavy

100 percent of libs believe it!

    • Shawn Smith

If you show me a study proving that black is white, that doesn’t make it true. The brazen lies are just staggering. This is seriously starting to sound like to Soviet Pravda. “All is well in prosperous America thanks to our dear leader, Obama.”

  • Avery

I clicked the link to the Pew report. It simply states that the media reported GOP criticism of Obama. It doesn’t judge the media’s tone in reporting such criticisms at all.

  • Stone Bryson

The fact that LaBolt would say this with a straight face demonstrates even further just how completely disconnected this White House is from reality. Wow…

  • michael s

just mad because the republicans don’t have a person as popular as Pres Obama.

    • J. Cox

Ya…imagine that…we go for substance..not cult of personality…but hey..keep propping up your “savior”,he may give you more of my money.

    • TocksNedlog

So, you agree that LaBolt is lying.
      Good to know.

    • David

Ah, an Obama Cult member . . .

    • Corey Dennison

Sorry to pop your little point there, Mikey…but unlike you on the left, we don’t do cult figures. The fact that you’re wrapped up in popularity shows that you never learned the lesson that being popular isn’t as important as doing what’s right.

    • PennyRobinsonFanClub

    • Noah Lee

yeah, certainly not Reagan or anyone like that. /s

    • Hiraghm

Mostly mad because the country doesn’t have a Pres…

  • diskinetic

Popular with an increasingly vapid populace, that is.

  • GoSellCrazySomeplaceElse

The propaganda machine, aka, the MSM, reportedly had a glitch and will be back on track ASAP.

  • Patrick Dennehy

I love that Labolt linked to an article written by McCutcheon (who wrote a book on global warming) as oppossed to the actual report. The report is how candidates were covered in the primaries. and is dated April 23, 2012.

In the last paragraph of the report: “The focus will shift to the contrast between Romney and Obama, and, with Election Day seven months away, the pace of the narrative will also be altered by the calendar. ”

Basically, they hadn’t started focused in on hammering Romney yet, he wouldn’t accept the GOP nomination for another 4 months! This report has nothing to do with the difference in coverage Romney vs. Obama; That is a blatant lie!

  • AJ

Who is Ben Laboit? Chicago native, nuff said. Stack him up with the rest of the WH Chicago mafia.

    • BristolGOP Backup

He’s a paid Obama spokesflack. Not that you can tell the difference.

  • Frank Drebin

I just read a new study that found that

you can indeed, fool most of the people most of the time.

  • Lord Foggybottom

    Ben LaDolt.

  • George Washington Mclintock

It’s all over people, he’s got studies! Well, The Benghazi four have a bad case of the deads, and Mexican narco-terroists have our surplus Aks. The economy has a 4+ year case of the doldrums. The Iranians will have the bomb soon enough, and 10’s of millions of unemployed have no hope! Hollywood has an infatuation, and the people of Chicago have a lot of dead kids to contend with. The Constitution and The Bill of Rights have a crosshairs on them, and suffices Ben Labolt has my abiding contempt.

  • nc

I know some have sworn off Noonan forever, but I’m so relieved to see her back home where she belongs. We need all the “good communicators” we can muster.

    • ceemack

“Good communicator”? I’m not sure which is more astonishing…that this LaBolt character drew the conclusions that he did, or that he actually made it all the way through a Peggy Noonan column without nodding off.

Personally, I’m leaning toward the latter.

  • Ben Bollman

Studies show that 99% of studies are made up

    • David

My figures differ slightly, but I’m just making it up. Sorta like figures used by Obama.

  • DrSamHerman

Ben didn’t earn his title “Le Dolt” for nothing.

With Obama’s popularity waning and Shrillary’s building thanks to a media that wants her elected next to check off the demographic boxes on their leftist political wish list, Le Dolt is acting like poor Barely Zero was subjected to a media pounding. If Le Dolt is not in need of an emergency rectocranial impaction, then he needs a large honkin’ dose of Abilify and and 1.4 target Lithium level for the acute bipolar I episode he’s having.

  • GaryTheBrave

Ben LaBolt? Isn’t he the Olympic runner from somewhere? JKP

    • David

The only competition for this moron is running off of the mouth.

  • CatHerder

Myth? I’m amazed that no one has gotten electrocuted yet, with the out-of-control slobberfest every time the Anointed One opens his mouth. The blind worship couldn’t be more obvious with a director off-camera screaming “EMOTE people, EMOTE!”

  • David

Incredible . . . I have no idea who DumbBolt is, but obviously he is a fool.

  • BeeKaaay

The last thing fishes notice is water.

The last thing leftwingwackoism notices is propaganda.

  • dthorny

And why are the liberals up in arms over the Doctor ‘slamming or attacking’ Obowma at the prayer breakfast? Because it never has happened before that the Dear Leader is emasculated in public with the truth.

  • Lisa 670

I buy it. I am not stupid…saw it with my own eyes, heard it with my own ears!

  • Billie Slash

    Ben LaBotomy.
