As Twitchy reported, former New York City Mayor Ed Koch passed away this morning at 88. The colorful, widely beloved Koch was rumored to be gay but never confirmed or denied it.
Koch didn't owe you a damn thing concerning his private life. It's none of our business and you're a horrible person if you think otherwise.—

Exactly. Unfortunately, vile hack Andrew Sullivan has no qualms when it comes to debasing himself. He’s seen fit not only to engage in good, old-fashioned gay-baiting, but also to suggest that Koch was responsible for New York City AIDS crisis:
Of course, no one – straight or gay – is entirely defined by their sexual orientation. But it’s a core part of your personality – and Koch was simply too old, too self-loathing, and too prickly to change. Here’s the money quote when he was asked about it:
What do I care? I’m 73 years old. I find it fascinating that people are interested in my sex life at age 73. It’s rather complimentary! But as I say in my book, my answer to questions on this subject is simply “Fuck off.” There have to be some private matters left.
Of course they do. And I sure don’t want to know about Ed Koch’s sex life, if he had one. But the plain fact of your orientation is not the same as the details of your sex life. And when you are such a public figure and single and your city is grappling with an epic health crisis among gay men, it does become other people’s fucking business – especially if he was inhibited from a more aggressive response because of not wanting to seem gay.
That’s just the sort of sick slop that gleeful lefties like these delightfully lap up:
Ed Koch is dead. Still dead are the thousands of gay men and people of color he abandoned during the height of the AIDs crisis. RIP, meh.—

I'm stunned papers r portraying Ed Koch as a gay advocate. A closeted gay man who didn't handle the AIDS epidemic for fear of being outed.—

@teenmom4evr Vile to call someone gay? I did it for years, not just now. Nothing wrong with gay. But his avoidance of AIDS action was awful.—

A closeted gay man who could have saved the lives of millions if he would've spoken up sooner. Sorry, nope, Ed Koch.—
