Sexist heckling! Gun rights proponent Gayle Trotter mocked by media, attacked by Left; Medea Benjamin calls her ‘crazy’; Update: Sexist parody account

As Twitchy reported this morning, attorney Gayle Trotter of the Independent Women’s Forum spoke at the senate gun-grabbing hearing. Speaking out and thinking for oneself? That doesn’t suit, according to Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin and other “feminists,” including members of the media. Not surprising, coming from a woman who heads a group that thinks vagina costumes are empowering.

Zing! For the women? Only if she is the “right kind” of woman, natch.

Oh, honey. As we reported, the audience laughed and scoffed at Trotter. That is “heckling,” right media? It continued on Twitter. Take a look at the heckling from your colleagues, if you want to talk sexist, Ms. Wilkie of The Huffington Post.

Nope, name calling and hateful attacks are easier. New tone!

And the attacks predictably began.

Ah, yes. The always inane Amanda Marcotte. She weighed in and her fellow travelers, of course, egged her on.

The hate aimed at Trotter continued.

Stay classy! And, of course, out came more shrieks of crazy and stupid. Silly woman! How dare you think for yourself and seek to protect yourself? You must be cuckoo pants or a dummy. Know your place and make some liberal men a sammich!

CNN contributor Dana Loesch injects some much-needed sanity and some lady smarts.

Bingo! Now that is coming a long way, baby.

Update: And here comes a sexist parody account.

Inevitable? Because she totally had it coming, right?

The Twitter bio reads: “Guns, guns, and more guns turn me on… and large men.”

All you need to hear about feminists is that they are “pro choice” (because it’s a woman’s body after all), but that they are against abortions performed for purposes of sex selection. After you’ve heard that, you know that anything else they say should not be taken seriously. It’s embarrassing.

Anytime you have an ideology that singles out a particular sub-group of humanity for special treatment or consideration, things start to go sideways and eventually devolve into absurdity.

The problem with feminism is that its adherents want to pretend that being female makes someone special. They want to pretend that to be female is to be a victim. A victim of precisely what and/or whom is often left to the imagination.

Feminism is Gramscian Marxism applied to sex. Like all Gramscian nonsense, it tries to tell its target, in this case women, that they should embrace various tenets of Marxism. Not because these ideas are good, or because they represent the truth, but because embracing them is part of what it means to be a woman. That to reject Marxism and embrace Liberty is to betray one’s group identity as a female.

This is what evil looks like.

      • Bill Gryan

Careful, talk like that is a “hate crime” and will subject you to special penalties designed to protect groups that deserve special treatment.

Without the right to keep and bear arms women are easier prey for those seeking to do them harm. God mad man and woman: but, Sam Colt made us equal.

I have no qualms about women who choose not to take personal responsibility for their own safety or the safety of their children. I won’t force them to arm themselves. They can call 911 and wait the many minutes for a cop to draw the chalk outline around their body or the bodies of their family members.

However, keep your hands of my firearms you Progressive witches! I take responsibility for my personal safety very seriously. Reach out to grab my firearms and you’ll consider yourself lucky if you draw back a bloody stump in place of your hand.

The Well Armed Female website has a video appeal to all female firearms owners to stand shoulder to shoulder against those who would seek to disarm us and make us victims in waiting once again. Self-defense is a basic human right and one all women should aspire to master.

Actually, Gayle Trotter’s testimony brought up an angle I hadn’t thought of. A long gun beats a handgun for power and accuracy (shooting instructor Clint Smith says the proper use of a handgun is to fight your way to a long gun), and a 12-gauge is the quintessential home-defense long gun.

Not being what most folks would call “petite”, I can handle the recoil of a 12-gauge just fine. Many women can’t. An AR-15 is a pussycat when it comes to recoil. Much easier for a woman to manage, and a lot more intimidating than a lady-sized handgun.

So she makes a very logical point. Of course, the anti-gun leftists just call her a “c**t” and a “b***h”.

  • Jack Deth

I notice a lot of the liberal Tweeters just can’t let an opportunity for “High Capacity Magazines” go to waste. The Armalite Rifle (AR variety) was designed originally for a 20 round magazine. Which works fine. Standing, prone, crouched, off hand and single handed.

The 30 round magazine extends too far. And makes counting rounds a bit harder. And 100 round “Beta Mags” suffer from weak springs and poor feeding habits. There are NO “Drum Style” magazines for ARs.

Usually, the sound of the bolt going forward on an AR is enough to give any bad guy pause. Unique. Second only to jacking a round in a pump action shotgun.

    Securing my Soap Box.

    Carry on!

    • michael s

there are plenty of drum style magazines for ARs. beta cmag makes a 100 rd drum mag. ihave also seen a korean made equivalent of the 100 rd drum mag. there’s also a 90 rd drum mag made by mwg

      • Pablo

And they’re crap. No serious shooter uses them. They may be fun at the range, if you don’t mind jams.

        • Jack Deth

          Hi, Pablo:

Never been a fan of the 30 round magazines, Always put 18 rounds in the standard 20 round magazine. Less tension on the feed spring and more solid seating of the rounds. Also easier to count rounds.

      • Pablo

And they’re crap. No serious shooter uses them. They may be fun at the range, if you don’t mind jams.

      • Jack Deth

        Blah! Blah! Blah! Blah!

Do you have any idea how hot an AR’s gas tube and fore grip gets after 30 rounds of rapid or sustained fire? It glows red and moves the shooter’s off hand from there to the magazine and well. That’s why the fore grip is ventilated. Comes in two parts and is held together with a compression ring.

Do you have any idea how much 50 or 100 rounds of 5.56 weighs and throws off the balance of an AR?

Pretty damn sure that any magazines beyond 30 rounds are restricted to military use only.

        • michael s

There are NO “Drum Style” magazines for ARs was the statement you put up. That statement was and is incorrect. If you can’t admit you were wrong fine.

OK, the guest comment was me, I misread the comments and tried to correct my errors. Mea culpa.

That being said, why the heck would anyone waste money on a drum magazine like that?

          • Jack Deth

            Hi, Pax:

That’s what called a “Beta-Mag”. A Double Snail design magazine that feeds one round from the left snail and then one from the right. Supposedly to maintain balance and reduce recoil. For a rifle with virtually no recoil to speak of.

A very questionable design that is low profile and no longer than a standard 20 round magazine. Though adds a heck of a lot of weight and puts tension on two feed springs instead of one. Multiplying your chances of an unfed, hung or jammed round.

And yes. It is a piece of crap. A lot like the specially designed 30 round stick magazines for the Thompson Sub Machine Gun. The 30 round magazines were distributed widely for Airborne and Glider troops for D-Day. No one factored in the weight of ten extra rounds of .45 ACP ammo on the magazines. Which fell out in large numbers before a first encounter. Or were thrown away altogether. As an accident waiting to happen!

          • NRPax

In all honesty, I had never heard of beta-mags before. I’ll stick with the regular kind of magazines, thankyouverymuch.

        • michael s

        • AimToMisbehave

Nope, they aren’t restricted. But most shooters don’t use them, because as previously mentioned they are crap.

500 years ago a woman(or man) was at the mercy of anyone larger than them.

200 years ago a woman(or man) was at the mercy of any group larger than themselves.

128 years ago (The invention of the semi-automatic rifle) A woman(or man) was surrounded only by equals. Size, strength, wealth, power, all are meaningless to the physics of lead expelled at 2000ft/sec.
Historically we are living in the safest period on Earth. There used to be no risk in exploiting the weaker. You were bigger, stronger, better trained at combat, you took what you wanted.
A 6’8″ 280lb man may have no fear(respect) for the retaliation of a 5’1″ 110lb woman. With a gun in her hand, Darwin takes him and his ilk out of the gene pool.
For a political party that cries for “equality” they sure seem to disregard the true equalizer.

Given time she could have whittled me down and certainly would have beaten me in a fight that was scored by judges. In the practical application, if she had no access to my “privates”, throat, or eyes, it was just a matter of getting in one good body shot and removing her advantage by getting her off of her feet.
