Richard Dawkins: How dare you ask me to retract my tweet about ‘heckling’ incident?

https://twitter.com/RichardDawkins/status/296376745995665409

We thought he might like to tell his 597,000 followers the fake story he tweeted earlier today is factually incorrect:

Clearly we were waaay out of line.

His notoriety has died down in recent years, but about five-six years ago, he came out with: The God Delusion, a book demonstrating his poor grasp of metaphysics, theology, and philosophy.

I would say it single-handedly gave atheists the confidence they now display when imploring that government protect their delicate eyes from seeing nativity scenes in public, or their innocent lips when saying the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

Truth with a GPS? GPS won’t help you much in a lot of rural areas. It always leads people about 18 miles north of our house when they use it even though we give them directions first with the warning, “GPS won’t get you here. Don’t use it.” Then we get a call two towns away asking where we live…

            Thats awesome.

          • Infinite_Indeterminism

This is a side issue, but I’ll bite, anyway:

In the case you talk about, it is not a faulty GPS – it is an incorrect map.

GPS-devices generally function very reliably (provided they get the necessary signals), but the map-service can only give directions according to the map it has, and if that map is itself incorrect, then you need to go back to positions as such, and navigating the streets independently of what the map-function thinks…

Yes, incorrect data are a damn nuisance…

  • Nitsedy

Why would Dawkins care about the children at Sandy Hook? According to his philosophy they weren’t fit to survive and their inferior genes (or those of their parents) were simply removed from the gene pool by a more fit organism. After all, from his point of view the whole universe is one giant accident anyway so what does he care if one event happens rather than another? Why would he care whether someone told him to retract something? Memes are meaningless in an accidental cosmos where everything silently ends in the heat death of the universe and so retractions are pointless too….. or is he ready to admit that there is objective morality outside of strict materialism and murdering little children is objectively wrong for reasons beyond genetic emotional responses?

    • BeyondPolls

      Spot. On.

    • http://twitter.com/rashiedrushing Rashied Rushing

And these are the biggest problems of the atheist/evolutionist world view, survival of the fittest and impossibility of evolution of morals.

    • BeeKaaay

Well his religion permits murder. So he can’t really rail against Sandy Hook anyway.

    Memo to Mr. Dawkins:

You put your name on an article. Own up to that responsibility!

  • BeyondPolls

Dawkins is gunphobic? I thought he loved survival of the fittest.

    • BeeKaaay

Yeah, what happened to believing in Darwinism? Oh wait, now that it is inconvenient for HIM since that means he has to accept guns in the equation.

      • BeyondPolls

I know, but he shouldn’t really have any problems with guns, based on his worldview. But I guess he’s been in the UK too long, lol.

  • $30423294

Thou shalt not bear false witness, Richard.

This might be awkward for you, but you just illustrated why we need redemption from a transcendent God. We are too narrowly focused to govern ourselves. We have blind spots. I have mine. I’ll be the first to admit.

Can you admit your blind spot here? The rest of us can see it. It is glaring.

    • 1SkepticalChick

No, he can’t, he’d have to admit there is a God. He wrote a book, he can’t back down from that. He’s just striving for that last glimmer of limelight from his 5 year old 15 minutes of somewhat famous.

  • $129448

He is just another Liberal Loser

An atheist with no sense of personal morality?
    Color me SHOCKA!!!

  • TocksNedlog

Dawkins did the same thing as Frum: blamed his source rather than his own lack of diligent research.
These people simply cannot take personal responsibility for ANYTHING.

  • Dan DePriest

All a materialistic relativist can admit is that he doesn’t like the murder of children. As a follower of a law-giving God I can say it’s universally wrong, it will always be sin, and God will judge it on the last day. Which is the morally stronger position?

  • Samh09

In my opinion, Dawkins is just acting like an A typical atheist.

  • JoeMusgo

On the one hand, tweeting something under your name lends credibility to the source. On the other hand, Richard Dawkins does not have any credibility, anyway.

  • Garth Haycock

    Remember when Dawkins was relevant?

    Yeah, neither do I.

  • BeeKaaay

Dawkin’s religion permits him to lie. So when he repeats a lie, there’s “no big deal” – he’s just being devout 😉

  • ForTheRepublic

PWNed doesn’t mean what you think it means.

Also, your straw man arguments that anyone is saying “children are worthless” is about how stupid and inept at basic logic you’d need to be the cheerleader for tyranny that you are. Keep kissing the whip, prog.

If you think so much about ‘the chillrun’ why did you libtards pass the ‘Shooting gallery for lunatics’ act aka the ‘Gun free school zone’ act? Are you just stupid or did you want some dead kids to use to advance your agenda? Had to be one or the other.

2006 called, it wants its memes in lieu of an actual point back.
