Wardrobe malfunction: Jennifer Lawrence’s dress falls apart at #SAGAwards; Update: Dior denies malfunction

Young actress Jennifer Lawrence won a SAG Award tonight for her performance in “Hunger Games,” but she won even more hearts after maintaining her poise during an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.

Video here:

Update: The designer of Lawrence’s dress says there was no malfunction.

The skirt of her tiered gown lifted as she walked up the stairs, revealing a sheer layer. It may have appeared that she ripped the Raf Simons creations – which would have had people (including us) screaming sacrilege, but any material Dior Haute Couture uses is practically indestructible.

She won for Silver Linings Playbook

Correct…though she was excellent in Hunger Games as well.

She was also great in Winter’s Bone.

On the runway show the Dior dress was yellow and had sheer mesh connecting the top part to bottom part of the dress. Jennifer wore it hiked up so mesh part was not visible. As she walked, the bottom part of her dress got pulled down and the mesh was visible for a moment. She didn’t rip it though.

Which wouldn’t have happened had she worn a proper dress that actually fit.

I don’t think it ripped – I think it had a shorter top layer that she hiked up a little bit while walking up the stairs. The bottom layer was sheer on top.

    Beautiful, talented girl.

  • BorderLine Guy

Tiered dress, no rip. Now let’s more back to something important like Beyonce lip-syncing.

Love her love her love her!

    Let me get this straight.

An actress wears a bath towel as a dress.

Said actress wears a bath towel so small for her that it rips as she goes up to accept an award for a movie where she plays a masculine role (as I understand it, The Hunger Games is about a fight-to-the-death competition)…

And everybody is praising her? For what? Not being more idiotic? For being feminine enough to not wear camouflage and combat boots? For making the all-too-common confusion between revealing and beautiful?

    • BlueStateRepub

Maybe you should watch movies before commenting on them. THG is about an out-of-control Big Government that forces children to fight to the death, to remind them that they are powerless against The Capital. It’s not some cage-match with chicks.

    • Mark Stephens

BlueState is right, but you should also know what movie she won the award for before spouting off. She won For Silver Linings Playbook where she was anything but masculine.

  • Shelby is a Patriot

The only person I bother to cheer for during those stupid award shows.

Love this actress. I admit to a girl crush. Props to her attending despite having the flu.
