Puh-leeze: Joan Walsh whines about media fawning over Bobby Jindal

Gov. Bobby Jindal’s speech to the RNC last night is still generating a lot of buzz in the media world, and, well, Joan “editor at large when it’s convenient, morons” Walsh is upset. In a new piece, cleverly titled “The shame that is Bobby Jindal,” Walsh takes the media to task for paying attention to Jindal and taking him seriously as a conservative voice. Why aren’t they doing their job and being hard on him?

The acclaim for Jindal’s speech is an example of bigotry by the mainstream media: “the soft bigotry of low expectations,” to use one of George W. Bush’s few good lines.

Silly media! Fawnage and slack-cutting should be reserved exclusively for liberal politicians.

  • Bob Smooper

Some reasons why this man arguing for the GOP to be less dumb is himself guilty as charged.

    1. He permits Louisiana schools to teach creationism.

    2. He allows state employees to be fired for being gay.

    3. He has signed bills to intimidate women seeking abortions.

    4. He seeks to dramatically cut taxes for the wealthy, increase taxes for everyone else

    5. He refuses to provide health care for Louisiana’s poorest. Louisiana has the third highest uninsured rate in the country.

    • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

Not one thing you wrote there is actually accurate. You must just be a racist who hates Indians.

      • Bob Smooper

On the contrary, they make lovely curry. How can I hate anyone who makes curry?

        • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

          Blatantly racist statement.

          • JINNASH

Real racism is affirmative action. Real racism is low expections. Real racism is voting for someone jsut because of his skin color. Real racism is race norming. Real racists are Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Cornell West, etc.

          • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

Really, they do, and black folk make great fried chicken, and Eyetalians do great stuff with tomato sauce and garlic. Aint that right, Marky Mark?

        • Brian Roastbeef

Also very helpful in those mini-marts and call centers aren’t they?

How nice that Vice President Biden himself could be here to join us today. Racist slime.

        • GTFOBigGovt

I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t know good from bad. Last time I was in the UK I had to avoid MOST food and definitely all animal products. What the hell do you feed over there anyway? The undertaste is disgusting.

        • KansasGirl

Well, we make “lovely” bbq, so you can’t hate us either. Right? Pfffft

        • lainer51

because I worked with curry lovers… stunk up the whole room.

      • GTFOBigGovt

Close. He’s actually not American, but English, tweets ALOT about India/Indians. trolls as “we libs” and doesn’t live in America. So Jindal is doubly annoying to him.

    • Joe W.

In other words, he is a conservative, American hero.

    • Sean Minturn

Do you write DNC political ads, or just regurgitate them?

    • Pat Loudoun

Gee, I wonder how he was re-elected in a landslide in 2011? He’s BROWN! Aren’t Louisianans supposed to be racists? Except of course for the Chocolate City…

    • BILLYDEVO

Good god are you so uninformed .You do know that you are allowed to think for yourself .

      • mike_in_kosovo

In Mark’s case, there’s a yawning gulf between ‘allowed to’ and ‘able to’.

    • Jack Deth

      Good ol’ Mark Cooper.

He keeps on chopping, but no one sees any chips flying.

      • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

The wheel is spinning but the hamster is dead.

    • Todd Hill

“3. He has signed bills to intimidate women seeking abortions”

How has he done this? Please provide specific examples of where women were intimidated. Your statement implies that this could be done at gunpoint…

      • Bob Smooper

Jindal compared women who have gotten abortions to criminals. He signed a bill that requires all abortion clinics to post intimidating messages in their waiting rooms, and establishes a website that points women to crisis pregnancy centers instead of abortion-providing facilities. Jindal also signed a measure creating a 24-hour waiting period between a woman’s mandatory ultrasound and the date of her abortion.

        • Pat Loudoun

My God! Jindal must be stopped!

Seriously, Mark. Why do you try so hard to look like a hack?

          • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

I don’t think Mark is *trying* to look like a hack.

          • Pat Loudoun

So you think it comes naturally? I guess that’s possible, sure.

        • Todd Hill

Heavens to Betsy! A woman has to wait 24 hours before having a medical Cuisinart inserted into her uterus? Such a travesty must be defied! After all, doesn’t it say in the constitution that women are allowed to have convenience abortions without delay?

Also, what do the “intimidating messages” on those walls say? “If you have an abortion, we’re going to horsewhip you in the center of town” or perhaps “We’ll revoke your Obamaphone minutes for the month if you go through with an abortion.”

In all honesty, it appears that you’re terrified of anything that provides information to women which alerts them to viable alternatives to abortion. Why do you fear the open exchange of information so badly?

          • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

You know why. Leftards are terrified of anything that threatens to shake their narrowminded world view. Isn’t it ironic? They’re the ones who call their opponents narrowminded, but they’re the worst offenders of all. Their thought processes are as lockstep as storm troopers at a Nuremburg rally.

          • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

“Intiidating” = “This isn’t the only ‘choice.’ “

        • Brian Roastbeef

Most of us on here already like Jindal, but indeed, thank you for reminding us of the good he’s accomplished toward protecting innocent life.

        • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

          Again — define ‘intimidating.’

          • Michael Rice

Not agreeing with a liberal viewpoint.

        • wwbdinct

What exactly did he say that compares women who have gotten abortions to criminals? What were the words?

        • http://www.facebook.com/noah.lee3 Noah Lee

wow, so women would have to wait an entire day before aborting a viable life? that monster!! how dare he!!

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Marcy-Cook/1001619613 Marcy Cook

Sounds like he’s giving women an opportunity and the resources to make an informed decision…in other words giving them options so they can make a choice. I thought you lefties were pro-choice.

        • seek456

in other words – Jindal is going by what “pro-choice” should really be about – a choice. How dare he!

        • ceemack

Here in California, if I buy a .22-caliber target pistol I have to wait ten days before I pick it up (thank you, liberals).

A woman having to wait 24 hours to kill her own baby doesn’t seem excessive to me.

          • KhadijahMuhammad

You also have to wait six months after the conclusion of a divorce before it’s final. Same reasoning as a 24 hour waiting period — you’re about to do something BIG, you need to spend some time thinking about it.

You suppose that liberals are anti-thinking?

        • APW

What did he say about us women? I don’t think I’m a criminal. Mark, I really have to know what he said ‘cuz then I can sue him. Please tell me, because you sound so smart and stuff. I’m depending on you to protect me from that bad Bobby, because if I got preggers, well, I sure wouldn’t want to think about THAT, it’s so rotten that I should have to think that maybe I have a baby, instead of some parasite inside of me. I know that if I heard a heartbeat, well, I might just have to think about what I was doing to it. And that’s just mean. Just because I’m old enough to fool around doesn’t mean I’m responsible for my actions, right? I just love you Mark. What are you doing tonight?

        • Michael Rice

Well, those of us with morals and brains realize abortion is murder, sooooo…

        • KhadijahMuhammad

“Jindal compared women who have gotten abortions to criminals.

We’ll need to see the quotation in context, please. Our experience is that liberals have poor reading skills.

“He signed a bill that requires all abortion clinics to post intimidating messages in their waiting room..”

Good. Abortion’s legal, it shouldn’t be socially acceptable or comfortable.

“establishes a website that points women to crisis pregnancy centers instead of abortion-providing facilities.”

Again, nothing wrong with that. We need all the future taxpayers we can get.

“Jindal also signed a measure creating a 24-hour waiting period between a woman’s mandatory ultrasound and the date of her abortion.”

See above comments regarding social acceptability.

When everyone knows, enlightened politicians follow policies of:

      1. Schools must teach what the bureaucracy orders; deviation and individual thought must be suppressed.

      2. Homosexuality must be celebrated; non-homosexuals need to be stigmatized because “heteronormative” behavior is oppressive.

      3. Abortion should be encouraged and people morally opposed to it should be forced to pay for them.

      4. Taxation on the productive must be maximized so that income may be redistributed to the unproductive.

      5. The cost of Government Health Care Programs is bankrupting the country; therefore, we need more Government Health Care programs.

      Progressive thinking at its finest.

      • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

And 2 + 2 = (whatever the DNC says it equals.)

    • JINNASH

      Intimidate? How?

Fire state employees for being gay? Has this happened? Evidence?

Cut taxes for the weathly—Good start, they need to be cut for all.

Raise taxes on everyone else? Evidence?

Refused health care for people ALREADY on Medicaid. Nice try but just because he doesn’t waste money with duplication doesn’t make him heartless, just financially sophisticated.

Here are some questions for all of the “smart liberals” out there……

      1) How much money does the govt. need to spend/waste to make you feel good?

      2) How much(or what percentage) is “fair share”?

      3) Do people have a right to self-defense or should they become crime victims before you realize gun control is a failure(think Chicago).

      4) What accountability should welfare beneficiaries have for recieving their benefits?

      5) Should beneficiaries be drugged tested for recieving benefits? If not, why should we pay for their habit?

      6) Should beneficiaries be required to find work?
      7) Do you know the real reason why wealth redistribution fails EVERY time its tried?

      • NachoCheese (D)

“2) How much(or what percentage) is ‘fair share’?”

To quote a statist I know:
earnings/money/wealth are “a community resource to be used for the betterment of all”.

This is the collectivist mindset we are up against.

        • JINNASH

Use the progression trap and historical data against the statist.
          Here are the questions.
          1) Should govt pay for a person’s food if they can not?
And keep going with housing, medical care, internet access, transportation, etc.
After you’ve covered everything ask the follow up question :
“Why should anyone go to work?”

If they are dumb enough to answer “for the community, etc” then you follow up with the other killer questions
          1) Who decides what work is to be done?
          2) What if the “community” assigns me work I don’t want to do? If you FORCE me to work a job I don’t want for the “community”; isn’t that slavery?
As for historical data, point out NONE of these societies ever work. And that the real reason people support the “community” mind set is that they tend to be lazy and/or lack real ability.

So he allows different opinions to be considered equally valid? How scandalous. Define “intimidating.” He refuses to collaborate in the fascist nationalization of an entire industry?Bravo. Wealthy, taxes, snore, ffkk you and your billshirt class warfare. Now run home to Media Matters.

    • Brian Roastbeef

You forgot to troll about exorcisms and you also forgot to call him an anchor baby. Though noted that you did at least manage some blatant racism down below. Overall still a 4 out of 10: You only hit the most basic libtard talking points. You’re a tool of the left; revel in the slime. Add something new to make this your own.

Seriously need a better class of troll around here.

    • GTFOBigGovt

Copying Think Progress blog posts word for word without knowing what you’re talking about is silly and wastes our time. If we wanted to read that site we would.

See, because you’re not American you don’t understand what you think you read. Or you’re too lazy to actually read it. Even HUFFPO stated it correctly. And even Think Progress for that matter.

The VOUCHER system everyone was complaining about was to go towards private charter schools without DISCRIMINATION if they teach religious tenants. It has nothing to do with “Louisiana schools” aka government schools.

Were you complaining that the same voucher program was going to fund MUSLIM schools, not just Christian? Of course not. You didn’t get that far in your “research”.

I won’t waste my time with all Think Progress’s points but YOU DON”T UNDERSTAND OUR SYSTEM OR OBAMACARE.

JIndal refused to accept more Medicaid as is his right per the Supreme Court ruling. This has NO IMPACT ON “the poor”.

Obamacare fixes “the poor” and healthcare correct? DUH What was the POINT other wise.

In rejecting the expanded Medicare, it leaves the FEDS to handle it. Just as they wanted. Liberals wanted Obamacare, they got it. Now IMPLEMENT it and leave the governors out of it.

THAT’S what’s happening. LIke Piers, you can’t relate to our structure of government. There were STATES before there was a FEDERAL entity and the STATES HAVE RIGHTS, not to be usurped by federal power grabbers.

      • wwbdinct

Great post! I asked Mark to provide links to back up his slandering of Jindal but I told him not to cite Think Progress et al. Now I know why he didn’t respond. Thanks for confirming what I already suspected anyway.

        • GTFOBigGovt

LOL that’s so funny, you even DID mention Think Progress and there it is! It just happened to come up when I googled his flailing points. BAd enough we have AMERICANS arguing wrong headed but I’m OVER these clueless Brits! :)

      • TexSizzle

Individuals have rights; governments have powers. Otherwise an excellent post.

    • louisiana_mom

You are so cute when say something this stupid… You might want to start getting your facts anywhere but where you are currently getting them… You were wrong on all 5 counts.

    • Joe

LOL. The “abortion intimidation bill”? You have quite the imagination. Racist nut.

    • http://twitter.com/standsomemore StandSomeMore

No facts to back up this rant? Surprise face!

Point 1 is just your whine about the school voucher system. Rather than focusing on the much higher graduation rates and superior standardized test scores, libs like you focus on your visceral hate of anything resembling Christianity.

Point 2 — what? Maybe he allows bad state employees to be fired that just happen to be gay. You provided no specifics, so who knows.

      3. He signed bills? You mean bills that the legislature wrote? “He hates women,” right? Love to know what bill you’re referring to.

      4. You mean his proposal to cut the income tax rate? I hope you realize that the liberals saying “He’s going to have to raise sales taxes to offset the loss” aren’t Bobby Jindal. You’re attacking a straw-man of your own making here. Bobby, AFAIK, has made no such comment or proposal.

      5. REFUSES to PROVIDE health care? Seriously? I thought that was the purpose of Obamacare? Ooohhhhhhh… You mean he didn’t setup a local Obamacare exchange in the state. So what’s the uninsured rate change in all the states that did setup that exchange? [crickets] yeah, that’s what I thought.

      • KhadijahMuhammad

        [crickets]

    • rivers

Wow, you’re really twisting the truth, clearly it would really bother you to see an asian/indian in the White House.

but, what difference does it make?

  • Karl Morey

“…’the soft bigotry of low expectations,’ to use one of George W. Bush’s few good lines.”

Uh, isn’t Walsh kind of doing exactly that? Is this irony? Is she really that dumb to not realize that’s what she’s doing there?

My money’s on the latter supposition.

I guess she just can’t take that someone she doesn’t agree with is being portrayed in a positive light.

I swear this nation is being lead by a bunch of kindergarten kids.

    • http://twitter.com/1RandiStarr Randi Starr

well ya have to keep it simple for the simple minded.

    • KhadijahMuhammad

Well…..I love Bobby, but this does happen from time to time. It’s one of the consequences of being the smartest guy in the room. (Which he usually is.)

You often seen Ben Bernanke in testimony choosing his words carefully so as to avoid the same effect. Like Bobby, Ben is often described as “the smartest guy in the room.”

    • lainer51

so then, he IS related to you…that’s what I thought.

That’s right. The only real hero to you is the Marxist in the White House.
