Hollywood legend and former U.S. Ambassador Shirley Temple Black joined Twitter earlier this week and managed to make it one whole day without any mention of reality TV phenom Honey Boo Boo. Sorry, but weighing in on Honey Boo Boo is part of the Twitter initiation. We all go through it.

So, who wants to be the one to explain Honey Boo Boo to Shirley Temple?

Come on — now she’s going to be really curious. It’s better she hear it from friends on Twitter than from TV.

Correction:

The account reportedly belonged to an impostor and is now being used to hawk Viagra and work-at-home scams. Twitchy apologizes for the error.

Shirley, you’re better off not knowing.

What is Honey Boo Boo? Embarrassing.

I deny knowing about Honey Boo Boo…even though I do! #lostbraincells

Honey Boo Boo is the anti-Shirley Temple.
She’s neither cute nor talented nor endearing nor enduring, and her family is frightening.

A teacher-colleague of mine and I look at each other when kids do senseless things and say, “Honey Boo Boo!” Because SHE is why kids think it’s okay to act stupid just because they live in the country.

But then…who is letting these kids watch Honey Boo Boo and/or not explaining to these kids it’s not OK to act that way? Really? Are you going to blame the bad behavior of a child on another child and not the…adults in control of the TV? Fascinating.

or the adults in control of the child. they laugh now at the antics of a four-year old. It’s NOT funny when they’re 12 or 16. then they wonder why they have such bratty teens.

Just a week or so ago I saw Captain January for the first time in many, many years. It also was the very first Shirley Temple movie I saw as a child (on TV). I loved it just as much now as I did then. It’s no lie that they REALLY don’t make ’em like that anymore.

Shirley Temple herself as a child star was the real deal. Such talent and charm that is a timeless gift to the world.

That’s my favorite Shirley Temple movie!!

    Wow! Shirley Temple tweeting? Awesome.

I swear, I think producers sit around a table and say, “Let’s make this show as stupid and ridiculous as possible and see how many people watch.” Then they run an office pool on the ratings.

will there ever be a death of “reality” tv?

  • George Washington Mclintock

Nothing wrong with Honey Boo Boo whatsoever, unless your from LA or NYC.

    • GoSellCrazySomeplaceElse

I’ve been all over the country and trust me, intelligence isn’t flowing robustly through NYC or Los Angeles. By the way, nice spelling.

  • Barack Hussein Sharpton

In an alternate universe called “Reality Show World”, Honey Boo Boo is a Shirley Temple just as Barack Obama is a President.

The bottom of the article now states, “The account reportedly belonged to an impostor.”
