Fox News swaps Sarah Palin for Dennis Kucinich; What’s next for Mama Grizzly?

https://twitter.com/WestWingReport/statuses/294941229475581953

The news that Sarah Palin and Fox News have parted ways isn’t surprising; the former governor of Alaska hasn’t been seen on the channel as a contributor since December. A statement from Fox calls the separation amicable, with an executive vice president at the channel saying, “We have thoroughly enjoyed our association with Governor Palin. We wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

Some couldn’t help but notice that the announcement of Palin’s departure came just a week after Fox named former Rep. Dennis Kucinich as the channel’s newest contributor. Fox News chief executive Roger Ailes described Kucinich as fearless and a “valuable voice in our country’s debate.”

Anti-bullying activist Dan Savage, who doesn’t hate anyone (except for the “GOP house faggots” in GOProud, the Christian “pansy asses” who walked out of his speech to high school students, and a few others) was quick to pile on.

Palin is still active on Facebook, and she’s proved she doesn’t need Fox News to remain on people’s minds, no matter how much the Left questions her relevance.

Palin and Kucinich aren’t exactly created equal. No doubt FNC is paying Kucinich WAY less than they were paying Palin. And from everything I’ve seen, Palin didn’t exactly bring in special ratings, so hard to justify the cost when she was on so infrequently.
Also, as a Fox viewer and conservative, I don’t get why any viewer would be upset about them hiring Kucinich. If they have no liberal voices, that just feeds right into the left’s characterization of FNC being a GOP echochamber (which if you watch it, is far from accurate). Kucinich, who I disagree with on almost everything, has always been respectful and a good voice for his views on O’Reilly. I think he’s a good addition.

    • Mellow Melon

I agree. If we’re gonna complain about the bias of the MSM, we can’t have the only conservative-leaning news network doing the exact same thing to liberals. I don’t agree with libs, but I’m always game for level-headed discussion of opposing views.

      • wwbdinct

Spare me. Fox has more opposing views on than all of the network and cable shows combined. I actually like Kucinich but let’s not pretend that they’re not pandering to their critics right now. Eff Foxnews.

    • William J. Miller

I concur on Kucinich. While I believe him to be a kook with his ideology, he is always up front about his views. And he seems like someone who you could have a debate with, without it devolving into name-calling and personal attacks (i.e. Beckel).

Best of luck to Palin in whatever the future holds for her.

      • kate_middleton

Very well said. He’s kooky, but he’s an intelligent advocate for his views. I remember O’Reilly mentioning in the past that he appreciated that Kucinich was always willing to come on his show and debate – unlike many others who refuse invites.
I think he’s a pretty good get for Fox. No doubt MSNBC or similar wanted him….but as Beckel has said many times, you can reach way more viewers on Fox than you can on those other networks.
Kucinich also has some Ron Paul-esque views (war, Fed, etc.) – and those will play well with the libertarian wing of the GOP.

    • GTFOBigGovt

I have to say thank goodness for Kucinich because I am SO TIRED of the existing Liberal lineup. OMG. Beckel can’t even make his point from any basis of reality. “The best place to go when you have the flu is the movies”. WTH? hahaha

Fox’s executive decisions as of late are the best advertisement Glenn Beck’s network could ever have. Cable news and cable, in general, are dated and tired. With a roku, your options are limitless. Not subsidizing those who patently oppose everything you hold dear (looking at you MSNBC) is a fringe benefit.

  • $30423294

We have to continue toward cafeteria style programming.

I cut the cord to cable years ago because my money props up MSNBC and all the rest.

I haven’t missed cable for a second. In fact, when I travel I sometimes peek in on the old cable news shows. Oh my gosh, they are hideous. They are worse than I remember them!

You poor, poor people who still subscribe to cable. It’s so easy to cut it. So easy! You will save over a thousand dollars a year.

  • Steve_J

FNC now has Dennis “truther” kuncinich, Karl “white board, check the numbers, check the numbers” Rove, Dick “My new book” Morris, Kirsten “vapid” Powers, Juan “the obtuse” Williams. Not too mention Bill O’Reilly who only uses the “O’Reilly Factor to hawk his latest book. I wasn’t watching much of FNC before, it will be less now.

  • vino veritas

Palin actually declined to renew her contract with FNC (contrary to those idiot lying lefty’s who will try to make it seem like she was fired): http://hotair.com/archives/2013/01/25/report-palin-parts-ways-with-fox-news/

This makes me feel better about her ‘keeping it real’ with her conservative cred and not corrupting herself into another republican phony. Fox has been becoming more & more like their supposed counterparts in the MSM for years now by hiring more lefty tools and giving them huge berths on their despicable rhetoric/behavior. They hardly ever have well-rounded legitimate debates anymore. Just about every stinkin debate is crammed into a 3 min window while some talking head (some are fair while others blatantly provide cover for any and all lib’s they have on) micromanage the whole thing down to every word spoken. Fair, balanced & unafraid is no longer the motto there. Its now really more like Regurgitated, Screened & Stamped with P.C. approval.
If Michelle Malkin ever leaves them then I’m done with Fox for good.

            BREAKING NEWS!

UPDATE – Howard Kurtz reports on the Daily Beast Saturday:

“Fox News offered Sarah Palin a new contract before she decided to part ways with the network where she has held forth as a commentator for the last three years.

“However, it would be hard to describe it as a generous contract….

“The new contract offered by Fox, say people familiar with the situation, would have provided only a fraction of the million-dollar-a-year salary. It was then, they say, that Palin turned it down and both sides agreed to call it quits.”

She was fired, they “offered” her a contract for less money, when they do that? When they offer you less money? That means they don’t want you to work there anymore. When they want you to stay they offer more money.

      Do you understand?

  • labman57

Sarah needed to part ways so that she could begin to prepare in earnest for her bid for the 2016 Republican POTUS nomination.

Yeah, I’m joking. In fact, she’s going to undertake her next literary effort:

“Going Gas Range — 101 Moose Meals, from Tundra to Table.”

Unlike her first three efforts, this one will be non-fiction.

    • GTFOBigGovt

That’s so clever! But she doesn’t need a gas range. I bet if someone dropped you off in the middle of Alaska you’d have the skills to survive like she could. OH wait. I don’t think there’d be as many post offices or ATMs around for you to get your govt taxpayer payola so, no, stay in the lower 48. Or is it 55. I always get that mixed up.

  • Dan Thorpe

I saw the segment the other day on Hannity discussing the 2nd amendment with Kucinich and he actually had a better understanding then most liberals. I for one like Sarah Palin’s POV but think that people like Kucinich will add some credibility and a balanced news source to more people.

    • Dan Thorpe

for the people that voted this down, did they even watch the segment? He actually understood that the 2nd amendment was to prevent a tyrannical government.

      • GTFOBigGovt

You’re exactly right. And he brought it up first. Then Sean, for once, actually acknowledged what he said. Normally, he just runs on at the mouth without giving the viewers the chance to actually absorb what the people say on there. Because he’s in a hurry to get to his next talking point.

When he had the NY town hall peeps on, with the NRA guy, he made a GREAT point very earnestly about the govt not even using the data they get NOW and don’t load it into the existing data base. Of course, I missed what data base he said and the jist of it because Sean just jumped in on his last word and started jabbering. Love his patriotism and enthusiasm, wanna grab him and coach his moderating skills grrrrrr.

Props to his specials this week though. He’s doing his best.

    A couple of observations:

    – Sarah Palin made the decision not to renew her contract with FOX News, not the other way around.

Sarah Palin Parts Ways With FOX News
    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2013/01/25/sarah_palin_parts_ways_with_fox_news_116807.html

Unshackled: Palin Declines to Renew FOX News Contract
    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2013/01/25/Palin-Fox-News

With respect, the headline in this blog post is misleading.

    – As to FOX News, they have lost a lot of credibility over the last two years with conservative activists.

    What will she do next?

Read what the Palin aide told Scott Conroy and Tony Lee.

    The long march continues.

    • Dan Thorpe

compared to the zero credibility they have with the left? Honestly with people like Hannity, O’Reilly (when he is not shilling for his books), Megyn Kelly, Cavuto, Baier, Gutfield, Malkin, Pavlitch they are alright

      • Garym

I get my news from the net. Not filtered through the msm or Fox News.

        • Dan Thorpe

well I don’t have cable so my its not mine either but I do watch some of the clips on the site now and again. I also just listed the stable of conservatives that are still on the channel.

    • blueniner

Malkin dropped the ball on this one…….

    • http://www.facebook.com/liberals.needhelp Liberals Needhelp

But, not renewing her contract is due to something….Fox and the ownership have made rather unflattering comments about Palin for over a year. It was no secret they liked to dismiss her presence in interviews. They also made it clear they were reducing her role on air, like election night and conventions. Fox used her only sparingly.

The writing was on the wall. Fox just didn’t want her around that much.

Yes, she decided to just not renew. Good. Wish her well.

But, she was helped more than gingerly to the door by Fox executives.

I seem to be contrary to most of my fellow non-progressive troll posters here in that this news really doesn’t bother me at all. I’d started to roll my eyes whenever she popped up on FNC. I felt she was just repeating the same thing over and over regardless of the topic and really didn’t offer any insight. She just didn’t do it for me as a pundit.

As for Kucinich, I don’t know why Fox even bothered. There is no number of liberals they could add to ever gain validity in the eyes of the left, and despite the complaints they have plenty of people espousing the liberal side of things already.

Here’s another reason people might admire Sarah Palin.

When her daughter, Bristol, was on Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) the first time, a certain red-head made snarky remarks about Bristol’s weight. That – apparently – led Bristol to want to slim down for her return to the show. To encourage and better enable Bristol to lose weight, Sarah joined her in a weight-loss regimen.* Sarah needed to lose weight about as much as Anthony Weiner needs to add any nose, but she did it for the sake of her daughter.

I hope that – with Bristol’s second go-round on DWTS in the past – Sarah has resumed the diet which made her the best looking political figure in America.

(* I’m assuming – and hoping – that the weight loss was/is not the result of something more serious)

  • Ifrench320

I think she’ll show up on The Blaze with Glenn Beck

  • http://www.facebook.com/liberals.needhelp Liberals Needhelp

Fox keeps Karl Rove – who is still drawing on that board of his telling us Romney will win, you just wait & see….what is his track record since 2008 anyway? Pretty bad. His commentary is also usually plain wrong. Thanks for 2000 & 2004. But, Karl, that was a long time ago, unless you’re a white male and Fox needs you.

Kucinich. I get it. A different voice. A boring, unattractive voice. But,he’ll be the Juan Williams figure for the network…….

Palin is not a bubble haired blonde. Which is generally the Fox mold. Except for the Judge. But, she didn’t give them the pop and zing they wanted. She actually made more news, than dished it out.

I for one hope Palin does not run for any office again.
I hope she continues to write and do tv work.
I hope she continues to raise funds for conservative candidates.
I hope the RNC wakes up and uses her starpower to help raise funds too…the RNC is far behind in raising presidential campaign funds 2 races in a row.
I hope she uses her fame to help downs syndrome families & causes…in relation to her son. That may indeed be her long term legacy, leaving behind a foundation for this.

But, I wish her well. Fox is a good network. But, it does need to revamp a bit. But, hiring Kucinich, and even pondering hiring dirtbag Sanders is not the way to go really.

Hey, there are brown and yellow and black conservative voices. Find them….
More Dennis Miller, a bit more Paul Rodriguez, Linda Chavez, Larry Elder, Monica Crowley, Thomas Sowell, a little less Kucinich and Rove please……..

        • Karl H

Did it occur to you that perhaps the component that creates your inability to comprehend anything she has said is not a lack of intelligence on her part?

I am sure a life time of having things spoon fed to you through public education is a major contributing factor in your lack of comprehension, but this level of ignorance if far beyond what any teachers union could have hoped to accomplish.

Unfortunately your level of ignorance requires a second component and that is all you. Perhaps it is genetics, maybe, just maybe your daddy should not have married his sister. Maybe mommy should not have pushed on the soft spot in your head to make your legs twitch when you were a baby. But you can really blame her after all she was still using drugs quite heavily and it was funny.

I’m just saying, all the problems you have could all be your problems and not someone else’s.

          • salvagesalvage

And that’s why Sarah Palin isn’t an idiot!

On no, wait, she is cuz she says stuff like:

“As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United
States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border.” – Sarah Palin, explaining why Alaska’s proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience,

            and

“All of ’em, any of ’em that have been in front of me over all
these years.” – Sarah Palin, unable to name a single newspaper or
            magazine she reads

            and

“Well, let’s see. There’s ― of course in the great history of America
there have been rulings that there’s never going to be absolute
consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but ―” – Sarah Palin, unable to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with other than Roe vs. Wade

She is a deeply stupid person who has said and done deeply stupid things so naturally she is beloved by wingnuts just like you!

          • Karl H

And just a very small sample from Mrs. Mom jeans herself…The one the only Barack Hussein Obama…. Wow just a MENSA member in the making. I would rather have a Mom from Alaska than a polished car salesman from Chicago.

“I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” — defending his tax plan to Joe the Plumber, who argued that Obama’s policy hurts small-business owners like himself, Toledo, Ohio, Oct. 12, 2008

“What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith…” –in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, who jumped in to correct Obama by saying “your Christian faith,” which Obama quickly clarified

“I’m here with the Girardo family here in St. Louis.” –speaking via satellite to the Democratic National Convention, while in Kansas City, Missouri, Aug. 25, 2008

“Let me introduce to you the next President — the next Vice President of the United States of America, Joe Biden.” –slipping up while introducing Joe Biden at their first joint campaign rally, Springfield, Illinois, Aug. 23, 2008

“Just this past week, we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee — which is my committee — a bill to call for divestment from Iran as way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon.” –referring to a committee he is not on, Sderot, Israel, July 23, 2008

“Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under a McCain…administration. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under an Obama administration. So that policy is not going to change.” –Amman, Jordan, July 22, 2008

“How’s it going, Sunshine?” –campaigning in Sunrise, Florida

“On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today — our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.”

“Hold on one second, sweetie, we’re going to do — we’ll do a press avail.” –to a female reporter for ABC’s Detroit affiliate who asked about his plan to help American autoworkers

“I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Isn’t a stupid thing to say or think, it’s actually a valid economic plan.

Joe the Plumber’s name isn’t Joe and he isn’t a plumber.

“What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith…”

A simple slip of the tongue and an understandable one considering he was talking about wingnuts like you who think he’s a Muslim.

“I’m here with the Girardo family here in St. Louis.” –

I have no idea the context for this is so what’s the issue?

“Let me introduce to you the next President — the next Vice President of the United States of America, Joe Biden.”

Again, another slip of the tongue, people do that sort of thing all the time, why is this significant of anything?

“Just this past week, we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee — which is my committee — a bill to call for divestment from Iran as way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon.”

By “my committee” he obviously means the committee he is using to exercise this policy.

“Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under a McCain…administration. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under an Obama administration. So that policy is not going to change.”

Wow, another slip of the tongue from a guy who spends all his days talking about a half dozen subjects. It’s stunning that he hasn’t been impeached yet.

“How’s it going, Sunshine?” –campaigning in Sunrise, Florida

OYG! He said Sunshine instead of Sunrise?!?! What a tard!

“I’ve now been in 57 states — I think one left to go.” –at a campaign event in Beaverton, Oregon

Yes, these clearly shows he is as stupid as Palin who thinks Putin flying over her State means she’s ready for foreign affairs. Who was clearly lying about reading magazines. Who was just fired from Fox.

If Bush had said just one of these things you’d still be howling about it 4 years after he was out of office. Btw – my favorite from Obama was: “Corpsemen” which was not a slip of the tongue – he said it TWICE LOL… yeah a real Mensa member your messiah is… nice try.
