CNN’s Piers Morgan, Anderson Cooper defend Beyoncé’s lip-syncing of national anthem

Who cares if Beyoncé was lip syncing (or lip singing) the national anthem at the inauguration? CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Piers Morgan don’t care, but they cared enough about the surrounding controversy to step to Beyoncé’s defense on Twitter. She and her husband Jay-Z raised millions for Obama’s campaign, so it’s not too much to expect the media to carry a little water for her as well, is it?

We at Twitchy are shocked — shocked! — to learn that cable news journalists don’t care if a little deception was involved, as long as the end result looked good and sounded good to their eyes and ears.

Or Michelle’s bangs, or her Jimmy Choos, for that matter? Oh, wait …

Twitchy thinks lip synching is a form of deception. Really?! Thanks for proving Twitchy team is out of touch again.

If you expect to be hearing the live voice of a singer and you’re hearing a recorded voice of a singer, I’d say that’s a bit deceptive.

What term would you prefer Baguette? If you’re going to fake it then own it–not just because you were caught.

If you feel twitchy is so out of touch, you don’t have to come here. In fact, by reading twitchy, wouldn’t that also make you out of touch?

A lie is a lie. If you are a singer performing live you’re fans are going to expect to hear you sing. Not a prerecorded version of a song that you’re going to move your lips to. What’s wrong with walking up to the microphone and saying “Hey everyone, I know you’re expecting to hear me belt out this song, but I’m not feeling up to it so I’m going to move my mouth and you’re going to hear a recording of the song. Is that ok with you or would you feel deceived”?

Deception is OK here. If its a video by convicted criminal James O’Keefe, or saying Sam becile is being persecuted instead of being put in prison for parole violation. Repeating Huma Abedin is a mole, Saying Romney was a victim of voter fraud. I could go on and on.

      • NachoCheese (D)

Speaking of videos, you mean deception like blaming a terrorist attack on a stupid youtube video, then claiming (deceptively) that you didn’t blame that youtube video?

“We’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted”
-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaking to the father of U.S. Nacy SEAL Tyrone Woods about the creator of the anti-Islam youtube video.

Your rambling made absolutely no sense.

Yes it is, Tea Faguette Jones. It was a scandal that almost ruined ELO in the 70s, and that did ruin Milli Vanilli. Yes, it is a scandal when a performer holds out that he or she or they are actually performing when that is not the case. If I want to hear a recording of someone, I will pirate the recording and listen to that. I will not pay good money to see a person stand on a stage while I listen to a recording. The term of art there is “larceny by trick,” aka “con job.” Lesson over, Tea Faguette.

      • http://twitter.com/AngryTwitch T. Baguette Jones

Ummm…the truth just came out that she did NOT lip sync. Care to eat crow? And Milli Vanilli used someone else’s voice.

“Whether she lip-synched or not, #Beyonce still sang the American national anthem better than anyone I’ve ever heard. Fact.”

That’s opinion, not fact, but I’m not surprised that you don’t know the difference.

it could have been roseanne singing it and they would say it was the best because it was for b.o.

Everyone sure cared when it was that big hit by Millie Vanillie!

Girl you know it’s true (pun intended)

    • Julie

They never sang at all. They used someone else’s voice. Beyonce still sang with her own voice. It was pre recorded, but still her voice.

      • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

I believe @twitter-30204808:disqus is referring to the art of “lip syncing”. Which is what both did.

  • http://www.facebook.com/brett.mcmicken Brett McMicken

i, for one, think it is appropriate for lip-syncing to be done for an empty-chair president.

  • EOD

Well, I know if Piers Morgan ever lip-synches his show no one would care. Hes a Parrot for the Obama Administration anway, he can just call the White House and phone it in to CNN.

  • DirtClod

…or the $1.8 million dollar emerald earring’s Beyonce was wearing…these hypocrites stink to high heaven..here Marxist Obama and crew ran a campaign deriving “the rich man” and trying to appeal to the 99%ers like he was the man of the people…and all the saps bought into it. Yet he is is filthy rich and surrounds himself with 1%ers like Beyonce and her 2 million dollar earrings- a little sickening even wearing those while the rest of the nation struggles to put food on the table huh.

Large fraud, small fraud, it is all the same to them….”Who cares?”

Not a big fan of Beyonce.
Not a big fan of JayZ.
Definitely not a fan of Obama and his team.

You know what………do not care that she used a pre-recorded song version for the event. It was fine. It came off very well, and set an emotion. No problem.
Whitney did the same during her famous version of the anthem at the super bowl.

This is not a big deal.
Kelly and James did their songs live, and that was great too.

But, really, this is not a huge deal at all……..
Mr. Teleprompter would expect no less.

    • Duane

Hey Beyonce! If you didn’t know the lyrics to our national anthem, then maybe you should have borrowed the teleprompter…Oh wait, on second thought that would have been Karaoke…Then again… it wouldn’t have been FAKED! She was undoubtedly paid big bucks for this performance, is this what we also get at her concerts that we pay so dearly for ?

Yes, it was such a grand Inauguration. Michele eye-rolling, elbows on table, BHO gum chewing, Paul Ryan being booed, Beyonce Lip-synching. Yes, it was grand!

  • Mickey O’Brien

Why invite star-studded vocalists if they will not actually use their God-given talent?

  • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

If Kelly Clarkson had lip synced would all have been forgiven by Piers Morgan and Anderson Cooper? I think not.

  • Guest

Americans were being killed in Benghazi while Choomie hung with Beyonce,
she apparently rates more highly than an ambassador and a couple of SEALs.

  • BlueStateRepub

It’s simple: Those who can sing, sing. Those who cannot sing, use auto-tune and lipsynch.

Kelly Clarkson can sing, therefore she sang.

But I am sick to death of people saying “No, Beyonce is a GREAT singer, really she is. She just lipsynched because SHUT UP AND STOP ASKING QUESTIONS, RACIST”
