What? Andrea Mitchell implies ‘birther movement’ is a GOP policy

Wait, what? Just when you thought NBC’s Andrea Mitchell couldn’t possibly get more biased, or more inane or more lacking in journalistic integrity, she proves you wrong! Former Secretary of State Colin Powell was on “Meet the Press” this morning and he brought up birthers, as if they are relevant and mainstream.

Sigh. Sane Twitter users point out the obvious.

But, it’s worse than that. Mitchell doubled-down on the idiocy and implied that the “birther movement” was a GOP policy (how would that even be defined as a policy? Words are hard) when she said that he blasted it and “other GOP policies.”

Eye roll, indeed. And outrageous: Lapdogs will stop at nothing, even flat-out fallacious implications, in order to push their false narratives.

Fine. Obama was born in Hawaii.
He claims that his father was a Kenyan, a British subject.
Article 2, section 1, clause 5; he must be a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.
If your parents are not citizens, you’re a citizen, but not natural born.

Therefore, he’s not qualified to hold the office.

Rather than sneer at obeying the Constitution, how about refuting these facts?

    • $30423294

Young man, they are training you to make moral judgments based on peer pressure and to discount traditional principles. Imagine being a grade school or high school kid and being taught this way.

Uh huh. Everybody put the condom on the banana now. What? You won’t do it? You’re not one of those bigots, are you?

I am amazed that anybody sentences their children to government schools anymore, but that’s another topic.

Point: this journalist hack’s intent is to affirm that you will be very unpopular if you question the man she voted for.

    • radjahshelduck

You are arguing a very narrow interpretation of the phrase “natural born citizen” as it appears in Article 2. But even if your interpretation is plausible, it’s irrelevant because of section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment. If Obama was born in Hawaii, that would make him a natural born citizen under a constitutional provision that holds anyone born in the country is a citizen.

I don’t know whether Powell or Astrolabe(?!) is asking the question, “why does the GOP allow the birther movement?,” but I have to smh, either way.
    Perhaps the dumbest question ever.

    • michael s

Im not surprised. This is what happens when incorrect and racist behavior is allowed to flourish. I said this wouldn’t stop at Pres Obama. It went to Governor Jindal now Sen Cruz. Governor Haley Sen Scott might be next.

  • peteee363

now today i find out i am a racist nazi birther. so just asking for a legitimate birth certificate is a birther. then isn’t the secretary of state’s office a birther, since they ask for a birth certificate to get a passport?

    • http://twitter.com/equaltreatment Elaine

I have always been more interested in how he traveled to places at a time when US citizens were not allowed to and he seems to be hiding the facts about his passports, SS cards and college records. That’s strange. You would think this would intrigue a curious news media? I bet it would if this were George Bush’s past. The ‘birther’ thing is just a way to humiliate others, like Trump, so they will stop ALL investigations into BO’s past, IMO.

      • peteee363

or what about no correction for his adoption in indonesia? also, how does one get a second passport, while having a u.s. passport? wouldn’t that make him a dual citizen, and aren’t dual citizens also not eligible to be president? nobody seems interested in getting answers to any questions about his past.

        • LightSabre

Your’s and Elaine’s are all legitimate questions that anyone who thought of themselves as an investigative journalist would be trying to find the answers to. Unless, of course, you actually wanted to help a fellow marxist get elected.

Andrea Mitchell’s next assignment should be for Current Tv.

    • SJ’s Dad

      Don’t you mean AlgoreJazeeraTV?

  • $30423294

You know, not to get overly theoretical or anything, but I’d like to give another reason why modern leftists are lame.

Back in the day when Christianity flourished, scholars demanded, demanded that we use reason to investigate who this Jesus really is. Scholars said that for Christianity to maintain credibility in the modern world, this Jesus must be stripped of all mythology.

It’s not my concern to say what happened, but I would note that the celebrated “Jesus Seminar” has a much lower profile these days, yes? There’s a reason for that, but I digress.

My point is that we Christians have engaged in serious debate with our secular counterparts. We have felt and accepted the obligation to explain ourselves, from Stephen the first martyr to Justin to Tertullian, Athanasius, up through modern days with Fr. Maximilian Kolbe and other martyrs of left wing persecution.

In contrast to us Christians who place our lives on the line to defend our beliefs, and who accept that our Jesus must be de-mythologized by those who disapprove of him, the modern left wing Marxists want their secular messiah to reign, but they refuse to field questions about him.

Conclusion? If you’re honest, the conclusion is that the Jesus of history and of faith stands up like a true man as well as true God. The god of Marxism, this Barack Obama, is a gutless fake.

No I don’t want to call him that. I regret all the negative things I said about former Secretary of State Powell.

          • Catchance

Yeah, they were only negative when he was a Republican. Now that he’s showing his true beliefs (racism, socialism) you think he’s wonderful. If you want to see how liberals treat Black Republicans, all you have to do is look at their remarks about Mia Love, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, and… every other black person who has chosen to be a Republican.

          • peteee363

and don’t forget blacks that have not claimed to be either, but do not tow the plantation line, like rg3?

          • lainer51

I am sure you do – when you didn’t agree with his every thought, you talked “negative” about him, now that he has turned into a flaming lib thinker, you are drooling.

    • http://twitter.com/hamybear Michael Hampton

Well, when Bush ruined his career by asking him to lie to congress to get us into the Iraq war, I think republicans owe him a little respect. He was a good man. He is trying to adjust his karma.

Not sure what you mean by that. ‘Climate change’ is just the natural flux in, well, the global climate. ‘Science’ is a practice, a methodology. Quite a distinct thing from climate change.

Actually Jan Brewer vetoed a bill that would require presidential candidates to prove their citizenship.

The whole ‘birther’ movement began with Hillary Clinton, trying to derail Obama’s candidacy.

Interestingly, 25% of adults in the U.S. believe that Obama is not a natural-born citizen.

Mitchell needs to heavily invest in some rhinoplasty. That schnozz is creating a lot of problems in that it is so heavy that it’s pulling the brain against the front of her cranium and the pressure has collapsed all of the synaptic clefts in the frontal lobe which is the cause of her astounding lack of critical thinking.

  • http://riveredges.com Larry Felton Johnson

Birtherism creates a continuing dilemma for the GOP. It’s the most visible clearly racist segment of the conspiracy theory spectrum. But since the GOP is in serious decline, and has lost the popular vote in five of the past six presidential elections, it can’t afford to tell Birthers “just shut up and go away”. On the other hand, if it continues to coddle racist wackos, it’ll continue to decline. Catch 22.

Even this article, which tries to distance Birtherism from the GOP doesn’t really say what any sane conservative should have told the Birthers years ago, which is “You’re nuts, and not one of us, so away and leave us alone”.

Needless to say I’m not one to care what happens to the conservative movement, but it may want to try to stop being crazy.
