Walmart buckles, will attend WH gun control meeting, implement gun control ‘code’

Following the Newtown, Conn., shooting, Walmart, the country’s largest gun retailer, pulled an online gun ad but did not halt firearm sales. After initially declining the White House’s invitation, Walmart representatives will be meeting tomorrow with Vice President Joe Biden’s gun control task force.

And what’s more, Walmart has teamed up with Mayors Against Illegal Guns and will adopt the “Responsible Firearms Retailer Partnership.”

Indeed. Some mom-and-pop gun shops will likely not be able to afford to comply with the regulations spelled out in the agreement.

Gun rights advocates are less than pleased:

Meanwhile, Biden is threatening an anti-gun executive order:

It will certainly be interesting to see what comes out of tomorrow’s meeting, but one thing’s for sure: Walmart aligning itself with President Obama and gun control zealots isn’t likely to win over gun owners.

Carefull Walmart you are walking on thin ice when you step on the constitution.

  • Stop Statism

Dont give a rats rear end what anyone says, but no American is obligated to comply with a illegal and unconstitutional executive order

    • $24698634

      Good luck with that.

      • http://twitter.com/equaltreatment Elaine

It’s his Constitutional right. Unless they amend t that, he is correct!

        • $36544368

Wait until Obama tries the executive order stunt with the 19th amendment! Women who think with their lady parts will absolutely freak! And why am I saying this? Well, if BO will overturn one amendment, what’s stopping him from thinking he can overturn any of the others?

Edit: And by the way, I’d rather go without than shop at Walmart. Customer service is awful, their selection is really bad too, and most of all, their stores are a mess and dirty, and just walking in there makes me feel uncomfortable. Now I really have a GOOD reason not to go in there.

It won’t be luck. The fact that you will let it happen will make you complicit in the disarmament of those that would defend themselves and others. And thanks for doing nothing to prevent this.

And now the Liberals will love Walmart for crushing mom and pop shops…

Sign here, Walmart, and you will be officially added to the “not to be harassed by Eric Holder” list.

  • Red Fred

Walmart began in my state, and has made many changes since the death of Sam Walton. I hope they will keep in mind that a retailer bending to the government stands to lose a substantial amount of business. Not just in hunting and fishing, but overall.

    • sherry nash

Sam Walton worked tirelessly to build Walmart into a Retailer of American Goods. Poor ol’ Sam must be a turning to see what his Empire has become.

Walmart sold out to China a long time ago.

  • SAL

As if I needed another reason not to shop at Walmart…

    • lainer51

LOL – that is what I was thinking… have one 3 miles from my house, drive by 5 days/week, twice a day, NEVER stop..

I’ve been trying to transition to Target, but dammit, Walmart is just so dam cheap and they have everything.

      • $36544368

Target is now saying that they will match prices all year long with any other competitor, not just during the holidays…sounds like you can shop at Target a little easier now :)

  • Jefferson Tea Party

I’ve been defending Walmart against the hippies since forever. Guess I have no defense now. Screw em.

I guess the Big wigs at walmart flunked history cause Nazi germany did the same thing in the 1930’s before putting people in camps

      How silly you sound.

      • Michael Rice

        Elaborate, please…if you can..

        • $24698634

The hyperbole about Nazis and camps is a bit over the top.

      • operanerd1986

On November 11, 1938, a few years before the Holocaust began, Wilhelm Frick, the Minister of the Interior of Nazi Germany, passed “Regulations against Jews’ Possession of Weapons,” which effectively forbid Jews to own firearms. Disarming the Jews made it much easier for the Nazis to murder them.

        • http://twitter.com/Sincerly_oo Sincerely —

It wasn’t a few years before the Holocaust. November 9-10, 1938 was Kristallnacht. Jewish homes and businesses were destroyed and many were imprisoned in concentration camps.

This is a video of a testimony of a Holocaust survivor that was only 5 years old on the day of Kristallnacht.

The ban on Jews possessing fire arms was the very next day.

All Obama would have had to promise was a waiver on OCare and some favorable NLRB rulings….

  • pdxlady

What are they thinking? After all of the grief this government has given them? WAKE UP Walmart!

    • annoyinglittletwerp

Wal-Mart’s CEO is an uber-lib. The associates-at my west Texas WM, anyway-are less than thrilled with him.

  • lainer51

    nothing “moral” about this regime….

    • http://twitter.com/kml4ndry Kevin

While I shouldn’t be surprised, it blows my mind that our “Catholic” vice president somehow sees the sale of machined metals as an issue of morality and the aborting of human life as a choice.

  • sherry nash

Walmart needs to attend the meeting and agree with MORE GUNS! Take a look at the Crime that occurs in Walmart Parking Lots! Rapes, Robberies,Shootings,Thefts!

  • http://twitter.com/tanisf61 Tanis Fregin

I’m unhappy with Walmart for selling semi=automatics but as far as the Constitution when did Walmart start selling muskets to the militia?

  • LadyMacKeltar

Everyone is afraid of being vilified by this administration and its supporters. So, instead of standing up to them, they bow down and do whatever they are told.

  • Yu So Wong

I wouldn’t need much more excuse to quit shopping at Wally World. Their hiring of illegals, cheating employees on time sheets, 20 minute waits in checkout line, surly employees and now this.

    • $24698634

You just figured out Walmart has been screwing you? Everything has a price.

  • itzyaboi95

Not like I shop at Walmart anyway. There’s no way I would give my money to those bums.

  • $24698634

If Walmart helps in sensible gun sale rules, I might start shopping there.

  • http://equalforce.net/ EqualForce

With 300 million firearms in private hands (one-third of them pistols), the overwhelming majority of gun owners ARE responsible, law-abiding citizens, which is why horrific massacres are not commonplace, but rather terrible outliers that can never be legislated away (e.g. DC, Chicago, and “Gun Free Zones”).

For several examples for the recent use of firearms for defensive purposes not typically reported by the national media please visit: http://www.equalforce.net and forward this site to others to whom this information may be useful.

  • annoyinglittletwerp

I’veworked for Wal-Mart for almost 2 years. If they jump on the gun-control wagon…I’ll quit.

  • lbeacham

Walmart could give Joe a few hundred dollars and Obama a few million and the whole thing would be over.

  • http://www.opaobie.com/promisekept.php TEWS_Pilot

“Responsible”? “Moral”? Consider this alternative view of “gun control” and those who favor it:

Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose, is somehow “morally superior” to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.

Fitting lyrics from the man Ronnie Van Zant

Life is so strange when it’s changin’, yes indeed
Well I’ve seen the hard times and the pressure’s been on me
But I keep on workin’ like the workin’ man do
And I’ve got my act together, gonna walk all over you

    (chorus)

    Gimme back my bullets
Put ’em back where they belong
Ain’t foolin’ around ’cause I done had my fun
Ain’t gonna see no more damage done
    Gimme back my bullets
