Amusingly, what @Gawker has done today is given a one word answer to those who are asked, "why on earth do you oppose gun registration?"

Seems like a good way to undermine support for gun registration laws would be to publicly shame the people who abide by them.—

As Twitchy reported, online gossip rag Gawker published a two-year-old list of legal gun owners in New York City. The stunt left gun rights advocates fuming, and many are now more fiercely opposed than ever to gun registration:
It's almost like Gawker et al are trying to prove why law-abiding citizens would prefer not to have to register their guns.—

@BradThor I just read the T/L. These guys make people fight harder against registration. @RBPundit @Gawker—

Liberals are actually encouraging illegal gun ownership. Register your guns and the feds can come and get them from you at will.—

Leave it to Gawker to make case for eliminating gun registration altogether while trying to make case for gun control #badtabloidjournalism—

I oppose gun registration because @Gawker will send a liberal mob to my doorstep. #NRA—

Attention all future NY gun owners ….DON'T register your firearms. Problem solved. @Gawker—

HOWEVER, Gawker's hideous pillage of any remaining ethics they may have had proves Feinstein's push to "register guns" is dangerous to all.—

Overheard all over NYC today: "Register my gun? So idiots at @Gawker can publish my name? Hell no." #tcot—
RB (@RBPundit) January 08, 2013
RT @badfr0g I would like the thank the asshats @johnjcook and @gawker for proving why registration is a horrible idea. #tcot #NRA—

What's with publishing names and/or addresses of gun owners like they're perverts, for crying out loud? A BIG reason to oppose registration.—
La Shawn (@La_Shawn) January 08, 2013
Obviously, the proper course of action is to not register your gun with the government. I have taken note of this. Thanks, Gawker, Gannett.—

Nice going, Gawker.
