Nathan Fillion, Sarah Silverman, Dan Savage hate on Wendy’s

https://twitter.com/NathanFillion/status/288723869701926914

As Twitchy reported, an Omaha, Neb., Wendy’s franchise is reducing employee work hours in order to reduce the cost of complying with Obamacare. ThinkProgress ominously suggested that Wendy’s would “learn the hard way” if it tangles with Obamacare. “Castle” star and noted political pundit Nathan Fillion is more than happy to help crack the whip — as are some other illustrious folks:

https://twitter.com/SarahKSilverman/status/288595520253984768

Way to elevate the discourse, there.

What they’ve all neglected to mention, though, is that the ThinkProgress article was only referring to a specific franchise and not the entire Wendy’s corporation. Many of their followers helpfully pointed that out:

What these useful idiots also fail to realize is that this franchisee and countless other business owners aren’t slashing workers’ hours out of sadistic cruelty; Obamacare has effectively tied their hands.

  • NachoCheese (D)

Why don’t Nathan Fillion and Sarah Silverman put their money where their ignorant mouths are and buy a franchise, set up a few stores and prove how workable Obama(doesnt)CareTax is once you have over 50 full-time employees?

People over Profits, right? Lead by example hollywierdos.

  • Lord Foggybottom

It blows my mind these dimwits just can’t see that when you impose something on someone you will encounter resistance, especially when these ass-hats prove it over and over again by resisting religion and/or personal responsibility.

  • kbielefe

Just once I’d like to see them put their money where their mouth is:

“That’s the last straw! I’m starting my own franchise where every worker makes the same salary as me and gets free health care. No one will ever get fired, and we will pass out condoms with the condiments. We won’t have any profits, and our operating budget will be deposited in a bank that only gives loans to poor people and doesn’t employ any armed guards. We will only buy organic food grown by local undocumented workers, and only free-range meat that has died of natural causes.”

    • TheAmishDude

Surely Fillion and Silverman can afford a little restaurant franchise. Have them buy the one in Omaha.

      • Jen Edmund

They’d would scream in horror at how little money those small business owners are making. Yeah, the same ones that got screwed in the fiscal cliff.

      • TomJB

Omaha? But how would they get down there from the first class cabin at 40,000 feet on their flights between NY and LA?

Yeah, it’s terrible making businesses give up a percentage of their profits to keep people healthy! This is exactly how Hitler started.

    • carla5731

You’re assuming that there’s enough profit in the business to cover all of the workers and still continue operating. Is this because you’re their accountant and have access to their books?

      • salvagesalvage

Fast food chain Wendy’s Co. (US:wen) said Thursday that its second-quarter profit rose to $11.3 million from $10.7 million. Per-share profit stands at 3 cents as the number of shares outstanding declined. Revenue rose to $622.5 million from $607.4 million. The most recent quarter’s results included non-recurring items of 2 cents a share. Analysts surveyed by FactSet estimated Wendy’s to earn 5 cents a share. Second-quarter same-store sales at Wendy’s North America company-operated restaurants rose 2.3%. The company forecast they would rise 1% to 3% this year.

          “Per-share profit stands at 3 cents…”

So how much of the 0.0063% profit per share should they “give up” to satisfy you? Could it be that Obama(doesnt)CareTax is simply a poorly written law with these sorts of unintended consequences…

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! Corporations paying for health care is an “unintended consequences” of Obamacare!

And needs to quit drinking the bong water.

          • NachoCheese (D)

Nice strawman you have there…the reduction in hours and/or layoffs due to increased operating expenses is the unintended consequense. All of this was predicted when Obama(doesn’t)CareTax was being “debated”. Expect more of the same to continue and likely get worse as the full force of that Obamanation of a law comes into effect.

          • salvagesalvage

So we can add “strawman” to the list of things you don’t understand.

          • Catchance

The other unintended consequence is that the qualified doctors are all leaving. Soon all we’ll have are the mediocre… just like the unions.

        • SturJen

Ok, few things here. Now doing the math on providing 300 employees with health insurance for a year would cost $1,000/employee X 300 employees X 12 months. Comes to over 3.6 million dollars. So now you reduce that profit by that much.
Ok then! Those ‘eeevil’ investors (read: People who have 401(k)’s ) are expecting an increase on their investment, not a reduction. If the company does not make a profit, that investor will pull their money and take it elsewhere. If many do that, the company goes bankrupt.
So as you sit there whining because you *think* the only reason companies are in business is to give every bit of cash to their employees. The reason people start companies is…..get this…TO MAKE A PROFIT!! Why the hell would they sacrifice all that to end up poorer than when they started?
You might be invested in that company, your parents might be invested in that company. So in your mind, because an investor wants an increase (read: profits) from that company makes them evil. So…does that make you or your parents evil for wanting a return on an investment?

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! Wendy’s will be destroyed by buying health insurance for their employees! There is no business anywhere that makes any profit if they offer health care.

          • Slapweasel

Putting words in people’s mouths doesn’t make you any less wrong.

          • salvagesalvage

Yes, I think I said a nickle, that’s 5 cents? I don’t think that would make the burgers $7 but to be fair I have no idea how much food at Wendy’s is.

        • journogal

This isn’t the corporation, but a individual’s franchise. Do you know the different? He is the sole owner, proprietor of this Wendy’s. This isn’t the corporation. This individual pays a fee to Wendy’s to establish his franchise and use the Wendy’s brand. He doesn’t make, he doesn’t make it. He invested his own money to start a franchise. I don’t know what their books look like.

Do you also know that businesses don’t have to provide healthcare coverage? It’s a benefit. No one is entitled to anything, whether it be an iPhone, education, contraceptives, job and so on.

Obviously you believe that business owners have all of this money and additional money that grows on trees. It couldn’t be further from the truth. Franchise owners are small business owners. He has to pay rent, utilities and more, along with employees. Best thing for him to do is lower the hours and make everyone part time, like others are starting to do.

But hey, it’s cool to hate businesses nowadays. Maybe if you are lucky, the administration will nationalize franchises as well.

          • salvagesalvage

I have no idea of their books either but if the corporation is doing well I’m pretty sure the franchises aren’t too far removed.

            >Do you also know that businesses don’t have to provide healthcare coverage? I

They do now! I know, it’s awful, people getting medical help, damn that Obama!

            >Best thing for him to do is lower the hours and make everyone part time, like others are starting to do.

Yes! That is the best thing to do, if you give your employees less hours to deny them health care, you’re going to have some very happy and motivated employees!

Hey, speaking of capitalism you know in my business when my overhead goes up I pass it on to my clients? So if I owned a bunch of Wendy’s what I would do is raise my prices by a nickle and if anyone says “Hey! This burger costs five cents more!” and I would say “Yeah, Obamacare.” and then no one would care because it’s just five cents.

And people would get health care!

            Awful, I know.

        • Lord Foggybottom

Give BACK? The franchise owners are BUSTING THEIR ASSES and providing jobs! if anything, the employees should be kissing their asses! Plus, you can’t regulate health, nitwit. If people want to be unhealthy they’re going to be unhealthy, no matter the level of insurance or the amount of regulation.

          • salvagesalvage

No, they are busting their asses to make money, they don’t want to hire anyone, they only hire people because they have to hire people to make money. If Wendy’s could replace its staff with robots, monkeys or eliminate the position they would. Paying staff sucks and every business has exactly as few as it needs.

It’s so weird that wingnuts think people hire people as an act of charity, it shows just how detached from reality you are.

Like suggesting people who go to doctors won’t be healthier for the experience.

          • carla5731

What business do you own and operate and how many people do you employ?

          • salvagesalvage

I own and operate a small design business and I employ me with an occasional bit of outsourcing when I bite off more than I can chew.

And I hate outsourcing, sure I get a fee but it still sucks to give the lion’s share away. Now if I get to the point where I’m outsourcing more and more I’ll have to look at hiring because that would be cheaper.

Rest assured that I will pay the absolute minimum for the skill set I need and give raises only when I need to ensure that talent will stick around.

Fortunately I live in a country that covers health care so that will never be something I have to pay.

That would be one of the every other nations in the Western world other than America.

          • Lord Foggybottom

Who pays for your healthcare, Santa Claus?

          • salvagesalvage

I pay for it through my taxes.

          • Lord Foggybottom

But, you said in an earlier post you didn’t: “Fortunately I live in a country that covers health care so that will never be something I have to pay”

Why not just take that money you’re paying in higher taxes and buy the healthcare plan you want from a private company? You’re paying for it anyway. At least that way YOU’D HAVE A CHOICE.

          • salvagesalvage

Because paying for it via taxes is CHEAPER.

See that’s the bit you don’t seem to understand, insurance companies make it not only more expensive but riskier as they will do everything they can to avoid paying out. It’s weird that you think that’s a good system.

          • Lord Foggybottom

It’s a GREAT system, when the government isn’t involved. Regardless, I’d rather pay more for outstanding medical care than less for the lousy shit you get. But that’s me, and I want to be able to make that choice – which is why I don’t live in Canada.

          • Lord Foggybottom

But, you said in an earlier post you didn’t: “Fortunately I live in a country that covers health care so that will never be something I have to pay”

            If you even do.

          • salvagesalvage

Oh gosh I wish I didn’t! Each year I pay more and more but the weird things is I also seem to have more money in my account and I certainly own a lot more crap.

Of course paying taxes is just another expense, in return I get an environment and resources to run my business. I also have a clever accountant and the nature of my business has some pretty good write-offs so it’s not so bad.

          • http://www.theconservativevoices.com/ dmacleo

gee another person that wants USA to become like their country,

          • salvagesalvage

Yeah, not really. I don’t actually care what the USA does, shoot each other all day long if you like. I just think it’s hysterical the way you freak out over a plan to give more people health care.

          • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

More =/= better. Check out some time how many Canayjuns come to the US for medical care. Including, who was it, the Premier of Newfoundland? Because he COULD NOT GET THE CARE HE NEEDED.

          • salvagesalvage

Oh the States has some of the best hospitals in the world. Best country to be sick in if you’re rich.

            Like the Premier of Newfoundland.

See the problem is that the middle class and working poor in America can’t afford access to that quality. They have to buy insurance and the insurance companies being a business will do everything they can to avoid paying out. Then people die.

I know, I know, they’re not you so who cares right? Let Jesus take care of them, that’s his job isn’t it?

And back in the day we used to lend our health cards to American buddies all the time. We can’t do that now because so many Americans were coming up the Province started issuing photo ID.

          • Catchance

So now NO ONE will have access to good health care. Yeah, that makes sense.

You moron! I’m not rich… not even close, but I managed to get good health care anyway… first through employer-subsidized insurance, and then by myself. I won’t be able to afford it soon, though.

          • salvagesalvage

Yes! There will be no more good health care because more people will have access to it.

And I love it! Pure wingnut to despise and refuse for others a plan that helped you.

          • Catchance

What do you mean… a plan that helped me? We’ve never had a Marxist system before. If you’re talking about employer-subsidized insurance, that’s going to end, because employers simply won’t be able to pay for it. THAT’S your wonderful utopia. Pure government health care, which means all of the worst doctors, or at best, mediocre. The IPAB is made up of non-physicians whose very existence is to hold costs down. That’s going to result in exactly the situation in England now. Elderly people won’t get help because they’re not a benefit to society any more… just a drain.

Already hospitals are being fined if they accept a patient back within a month after they’ve released them. So what do you think happens? They just don’t accept them back. The patient has to find another hospital.

Have you not heard or seen all of the comments on how much people’s insurance rates have gone up? Or how their employer had to cut their hours because they couldn’t afford the new (higher) insurance rates? Have you not heard of all the doctors who are leaving their practices, or who have started ‘concierge’ services because of the new rules?

The thing is, even without seeing everything that we now know is in the ACA, it was obvious that it would fail. Any socialist system is bound to fail. The only ones who are thrilled about it are the truly naive or those who don’t know what it’s really like in other countries… or in your case, what it’s like here. My doctor does not even accept Medicare, because he knows what an incredible hassle he gets from the government trying to collect his money, and even when they do pay, it’s not even close to what the real cost is. When I need to see him I make an appointment within a day or so, and I’m seen right when I go in… no wait, no hassle. His fees are quite reasonable.

Many times laws have unintended consequences, but in the case of O-Care, we can see what’s going to happen, but they don’t care. You obviously don’t care what happens to the people… you’re just delighted when a conservative gets shafted.

          • salvagesalvage

            >We’ve never had a Marxist system before.

And you still don’t and never will! It’s funny how much wingnuts hate Marxism and yet have no clue what it really is.

            >If you’re talking about employer-subsidized insurance, that’s going to end, because employers simply won’t be able to pay for it.

Yes! There is no business in America or anywhere else that has employer-subsidized health insurance! It is an impossibility!

            >Pure government health care, which means all of the worst doctors, or at best,

Yes! When a government pays for health care with taxes doctors stop being good.

And in the Uk they kill anyone over 65 with Death Panels.

            >Have you not heard or seen all of the comments on how much people’s insurance rates have gone up?

So. The insurance companies are charging more because there’s a law coming that says businesses have to buy more insurance? Hmm, not sure if that makes sense.

            >Have you not heard of all the doctors who are leaving their practices, or who have started ‘concierge’ services because of the new rules?

No I haven’t heard that and the other crazy wingnut things because I’m not a crazy wingnut.

            > Any socialist system is bound to fail.

Yes! Like is has failed in Canada, the Uk, all of Europe, Australia, Japan, most of South America… well most of the world really.

            > My doctor does not even accept Medicare, because he knows what an incredible hassle he gets from the government trying to collect his money,

Yes! You send the government a bill and then the government says it moved or the cheque is in the mail. The government never pays anyone!

            >and even when they do pay, it’s not even close to what the real cost is.

Yes! That’s exactly what happens and that is why doctors are poor.

            > His fees are quite reasonable.

Yes! You can afford a doctor so people who can’t are stupid and lazy and that’s why they are poor and that’s why they should go without.

            Are you a Christian?

            > You obviously don’t care what happens to the people…

That’ exactly right! That’s why I think universal health care is a good idea people I don’t care what happens to people I just want to see conservative cry when people get health care.

            >you’re just delighted when a conservative gets shafted.

Wingnut projection, it’s a beautiful thing.

            Marxism [ˈmɑːksɪzəm]

            n

(Government, Politics & Diplomacy) the economic and political theory and practice originated by the German political philosophers Karl Marx (1818-83) and Friedrich Engels (1820-95), that holds that actions and human institutions are economically determined, that the class struggle is the basic agency of historical change, and that capitalism will ultimately be superseded by communism

          • salvagesalvage

So the insurance companies are using this as an excuse to gouge their clients. Nice. Yeah, you should give them money.

But unless all the insruance companies are price-fixing the smaller companies will come in with lower rates that are driven by the market rather than political forces.

Very good! You can cut and paste but you still don’t understand Marxism if you think Obamacare is an example.

          • Hello Jerry (D)

            Zing!

          • doc255

That’s funny. I used to live and work in Detroit, and not once did I ever meet anyone who went to Canada for “healthcare”, with the exception of folks who wanted LASIK surgery which wasn’t usually covered by health insurance. And the only reason it was cheaper in Canada is that our dollar was worth a whole lot more than yours at the time. BUT, I never met anyone who went to Windsor for treatment of kidney stones, cancer, or diabetes, or eany other actual diseases. BTW, the wait time for treatment is much less in the States, even now.

          • salvagesalvage

Ah, so if you’ve never met anyone it must have never happened!

And yes paying insurance companies means less wait times! Actually your wait at a hospital is relative to your condition and those of other patients.

          • doc255

What makes you think you’re going to get more health care from the government? Au contraire, my confused liberal friend. Once ObamaCare is fully implemented, you will find out just how much care you won’t be allowed to have.

          • salvagesalvage

Yes! That makes so much sense it has to be true!

          • lainer51

“GIVE” more people healthcare? That is how out of touch you are… no one GIVES anyone anything – the cost is incorporated into the product or comes from MY taxes….I feel sorry for your employees – you don’t have a clue… (if you do, indeed, run a business, that is)

          • salvagesalvage

Yes, it comes from your taxes and isn’t that awful? You’re paying to help out fellow Americans! Why can’t Obama spend your tax dollars on blowing up Iran?!?

          • lainer51

He did for 2 years, where were you?

          • salvagesalvage

          • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

On the contrary. You DO pay for it. .

          • salvagesalvage

Sure through my taxes but I pay those anyway and it’s cheaper than giving the money to an insurance company.

It’s so weird the way you’d rather give money to an insurance company than your own government to get full health care.

          • Dwayne Jackson

Yes, and you probably pay 50-70% in taxes for this “free” care.

          • doc255

I’m just guessing here, but I’d bet you wouldn’t pay for your employee’s healthcare even if you could afford it, or were required to by law. You’d be the first one to figure out a way to get around that law.

          • salvagesalvage

If it was required by law I wouldn’t do anything to circumvent it. Wingnuts always projecting.

          • Lord Foggybottom

I don’t think people hire as an act of charity, you’re the moron who said they should give back.

And I didn’t say people who don’t go to doctors won’t be healthier, I said INSURANCE and REGULATIONS won’t make people healthier.

You not only have a reading comprehension problem, you also have a problem with reality.

          • salvagesalvage

Yes, they should “give back” in the form of health care. It’s not just for the employee but the employer is probably better off having healthy employees.

And yes! Health care being paid for by employers is unrealistic! It can never work! There was no business offering health care before Obama.

          • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

Really, this kid is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. If it is in their own best interest, as you suggest, then employers will do it, whether to have healthy employees, or to retain desirable ones. Making them do it at gunpoint helps no-one.

BTW, this whole health insurance catastrophe rests squarely on the shoulders of Saint Franklin Delano Roosevelt. One phase of his ill-advised tinkering with the economy in order to “help” it, he decreed that all pay rates be frozen. So many employers began offering health insurance as a perk, instead. Result — spiraling medical costs. I’s very simple. If A & B want to make a deal for a service or product, and right off the bat , you know C is going to be paying for it — neither A nor B has much of a motivation to bargain for a best price. That’s exactly what’s happened since the 30s.

            True story, bro.

          • salvagesalvage

            Yes at gunpoint!

And FDR ruined America, it’s been nothing but a disaster since he was President.

Also there is no where on Earth where single payer health care works, not a single country has found a way to make it work! Obama is crazy to try.

LOL, it’s funny he gets so much right and then misses the whole point! Say, have you checked recently into how many robots have replaced union workers in Detroit?

    • Hoosier

Businesses owe nothing to anybody. No jobs. No insurance. *IF* they are successful, they will be able to afford these things. But nobody is going to stay in business just to supply these luxuries to people. Stay in school, work hard, and in the long run (yes, there will be bumps), you will be rewarded.

    • Catchance

Okay, so take two people who start a business at the same time.

One (Dave) hires a whole bunch of people and pays them the highest wages he can (because he cares about them) and pays for all of their health care, and gives them plenty of vacation time.

The other (Joe) couldn’t care less about his employees, but he wants to stay in business and knows if he wants to keep good people he needs to pay them competitive wages.

A lot of Joe’s employees went over to Dave’s business because he was paying higher wages, but most stayed and more came.

Unfortunately, Dave’s business went under, because he couldn’t make a profit. His employees are out looking for new jobs while Joe’s business thrived and his employees were grateful for work.

So which employer do you think is actually doing some good?

      • http://bobtheump.com/ BobTheUmp

Well, gee Davey. Thanks for letting me in on that little secret. Here’s another. I, like everyone else, watch “shows” for entertainment. I “use” the production for my purposes. I don’t care if the actor or writer or camera operator has political leanings differing from mine. I care to use them to provide me an entertaining hour or so. But, when they spew foolishness in public they make it harder to separate actor from character and that interrupts my entertainment. I do, then, find other more entertaining places to put my eyes and ears. And, that means the advertisers of “Castle” have to be concerned that a guy like me, (in the dead center of the demographic they most desire), will just replay a DVR of Blue Bloods or another show whose star has not made it hard for me to be entertained. If that is talking tough, you and I grew up in way different neighborhoods.

Now, its “blanking” Nathan Fillion. Son of a gun. It is so disappointing when these Hollywood types don’t understand how a business runs.

It is a sad, sad day when Nathan Fillion, best known for his outlaw role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in ‘Firefly’ and ‘Serenity’ begins to behave like the Parliament he fought so hard to avoid and resist.

I caught one episode of “Castle”. It was part 2 of a two-parter. The storyline was how a poor Moslem woman was used by Iraq/Afghan war veterans to set off a bomb in NYC in order to get people upset at Moslems again.

  • sqeptiq

Whoa! I guess now conservatives have to eat at Wendy’s in addition to Chick-fil-A, Papa John’s, and Domino’s!

    • bod ach beag

I’m politically conservative, i think i’ve eatten at wendys 4 times in my life, and it was one franchise. so not really news worthy i guess

    • http://www.facebook.com/vanessa.pawlovich Vanessa Pawlovich

Well, not here…our local Wendy’s franchise owner is very anti-gun and has signs posted that no concealed carry is allowed on their property. So many of my conservative friends don’t eat there. However- my friends have brains, understand that it is one owner, and would eat in a Wendy’s elsewhere that did not have a gun-free zone policy.

      • sqeptiq

I’m just goofing on many conservatives’ zeal to eat cheap, unhealthy food at chain restaurants whose politics they like. I’m a liberal. For my own part, I just shop stores & patronize restaurants based on whether I like the product, service, or food. For instance, I don’t eat at Arby’s. I think their food is crap and their support for Pres. Obama doesn’t change my assessment.

i wonder does he boycott wal-mart

  • http://www.facebook.com/brett.mcmicken Brett McMicken

going into a wendy’s and not seeing sarah silverman there. and, the downside to that is what?

    • lainer51

good point – boy she is one fugly

  • tacticomp

Let these loonies boycott Wendy’s–the opposite result happens anyway.

“the ThinkProgress article was only referring to a specific franchise and not the entire Wendy’s corporation”

This is what is known in the world of rhetoric as “splitting hairs”. If the corporate parent lends its name and reputation to franchisees, then it should have a say in situations like this where franchisees abuse the corporate reputation for political purposes.

From the perspective of a small businessman, the kind of action that the franchisee is taking — punishing their employees for the actions of the government — is rotten business. To say nothing about the part where a business owner is allegedly striking a blow for freedom by ensuring that his employees who handle my food have to go without health care. These people handle my food…I want them to be healthy. If you don’t understand that, then why would I not have my family eat elsewhere?

“Go buy your own franchise” may be the knee-jerk response of an adolescent Ayn Randian, but it’s not a legitimate response on my planet. The moment the customer stops being right is the moment your business starts to go away. Cooking burgers is not my business. We are your customers and we’re objecting to the fact that you’re consigning your employees (who prepare our food!) to a life without health care. This is not cool.

    • NachoCheese (D)

“you’re consigning your employees to a life without health care.”

You are conflating health care with health insurance. To say nothing of the reductio ad absurdum fallacy of “life without health care”.

In your attempt at logic, an employer making the business decision to avoid the Obama(doesn’t)CareTax penalty for not paying for health insurance (note, not actual health care) for employees, said employees can never have health care in their life?

That’s two strikes for him. Too bad “Castle” was one of my favorite shows. I guess he figures he doesn’t need me to watch his show.

  • James DeAcutis

Knowing these 3 meatheads won’t be going to Wendy’s makes going to Wendy’s a lot more palatable…

Fun: Moral indignation. Funner: Nuanced approach to issues

Oh, you’re right, Democrats. The businesses should take the hit. Every business is making an 90% profit margin, so ALL of them can afford it.

  • thetawake

All the legislation in the world can’t make businesses have more dollars going out then they take in. It’s called economics…or third grade math.

  • Bob Khan

These idiot hollywood celebrities who want to boycott all these fast food chains don’t seem to realize that if the franchise owners kept their employees at a 40 hour work week, menu prices would have to go up in a big way. Many of us that utilize these fast food places for meals would not be able to afford the increases and the business would lose money and possibly fold.

Franchise owners really do not make that much money anyways. Years ago I built a custom PC for the owner of the Wienerschnitzel that I worked at as a teenager. He and his Wife lived in a 50-year-old, 3 bedroom home, which would have probably been worth around $50k at the time. There was nothing wrong with the store’s volume either, we were one of the busiest locations in my hometown. Employee costs, advertising costs, property lease costs, utility costs, sanitation costs, product costs, franchise costs and now Osamacare costs. It all adds up.

In the real world, we common folk don’t get on stage, make a fool out of ourselves for a couple of hours and get a Million dollar check for easy work, so quit your *itching!.

    • Bumr50

      Utopian obstructionist!!

You and all your damn FACTS…

      /

  • Karl H

It is not like the owner of the wendys franchise has a production company that allows them to write of most of their expenses like Nathan Fillion AKA Green Glasses Productions or Sarah Silverman AKA Eleven Eleven O’ Clock Productions must be nice knowing you wont pay damn penny in taxes until you make $20,000,000.00

Sure was a sweet deal those Hollywood Millionaires and Billionaires at the expense of all those business owners that are not even millionaires.

I have no idea where $450,000.00 equals even one million, must be the same place Obama gets his jobs figures. I think it is called liberal fantasy island, you know the place where everyone is perfect and cars run on magical unicorn farts.

  • anjullyn

First I don’t believe this guy, or Silverman have ever walked into a Wendy’s. Next…why do these aholes tweet what they (pretend) to do? To get their followers to swoon at their brave stance? Oh..and LOL…he broke up with them by tweet.

  • SDN

Between Joss Whedon’s and Nathan Fillion’s Obama love, they’d be the first Captain Mal would start misbehaving on….

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/NF6GKCBEL4446NUYJVPIEAO63Q Matthew

It’s sad to see Fillion sell out to the Alliance. Wendy’s at least used to not cover abortion except for the ‘big three’ and had an adoption credit under their health care. Dave Thomas must be spinning in his grave.

  • HansonBro

I can’t decide which is dumber – A clueless himbo-hipster commenting on labor law or the mainstream media commenting on labor law.
    Neither can tie a shoelace.

    • Hello Jerry (D)

      It’s a tie.

  • Terry Murphy

    Nathan Fillion
    @NathanFillion

Wendy’s Cuts Employee hrs to Avoid Obamacare say.ly/mTT4UOeI just boycotted Wendy’s. And broke up with Wendy. Via tweet.
Great…he breaks up with Wendy AFTER giving her crabs. One more useless, irrelevent Hollyweird liberal heard from. Like anyone cares. These people have no concept what it takes to run a business. They’ve never actually produced anything in their meaningless, pathetic lives aside from their Hollywood drivel.

  • ClinkinKY

“Serenity now”. I’ll never be able to watch this show, or Nathan Fillion in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” with the same appreciation. You just had to go and ruin another innocent pleasure didn’t you Nathan?

I wonder if Nathan and Adam Baldwin “hung out together” off the set? :)

    • Matt

I suspect Fillion has changed quite from his time with Adam, and as he became more and more successful and was absorbed into the Hollywood mindset, he became increasingly more strident about all things liberal. Its a freakin shame too – I thought I liked Fillion but the more he opens his mouth, the more I realize he’s Sean Penn, Matt Damon, Jeanine Garofolo and every other out of touch Hollywood liberal. And while he may lose some fans by bitterly complaining about mean Republicans and corporations, he’ll shore up his bonafides with the directors and producers.

  • Blake Waymire

Isn’t Fillion Canadian? I wouldn’t expect him to know much about how horrible single-payer can be. He probably gets significantly better treatment than the little people, what with being a minor celebrity.

It’s taken me awhile to remember this clip, but it’s the verbal/visual I get when libs rant. Like Cher, Rosanne Barr, Bette Midler. I know they are trying really hard to make sense, but this is all I hear. Now that I’ve found it, I might apply it frequently.

I see Canada fails to teach logic in their school system as well. If he had just stopped to think or googled the Wendy’s web site he could have saved himself the shame of not knowing the difference between the corporate policy and a franchise.

Have we not suffered enough from these Hollywood fools. The problem is not Wendy’s but the problem is healthcare legislation brought up by their Prez. that is not affordable or reforms the healthcare system. It is about destroying the best healthcare in the world and using it to redistribute wealth. If you are on a board with this guy, why not just cut him a check to redistribute and allow the rest of us to hang on to our hard earned dollars!

  • Matt

Hollywood is filled with actors that have never run a business or understand how business works. And while some of them may have struggled at one point to make ends meet or purchase insurance, years of living the high life and “having people who handle that stuff” has dulled them to reality and how real people have to deal with these problems.

  • jetch

its like a disease, they hear something they don’t like and immediately think “boycott”. what complete and utter idiots!!
i love the one comment from the guy who asks “so it’s automatically the employer and not the law?” that says it perfectly! are these idiots taking even a minute to think beyond the obvious? aren’t they supposed to be “informed”? because there doesn’t seem to be any intellectual curiosity on their part…

  • kayakingfatso

Such a shame when celebrities open their mouths, and twitter accounts, to post their anti-everything rabble before checking their facts. Now, I have to hate Nathan Whatshisface, and those other two whatstheirfaces. Bummer.

  • segeny

I really hate it when my favorite actors on my favorite shows prove themselves to be such dimwits in real life. Sure wish they would stick to the scripts instead of blowharding their pro-ObaMao cr@p.

Seems like the best thing any restaurant chain can do for business is to piss off some B-List actor with a twitter account. Best way to get their version of Chik-Fil-A Appreciation Day.
