House passes Sandy relief bill, Senate stews; Where is Gov. Christie?; Updated

Earlier this week, New Jersey Governor Christie ripped John Boehner and the House GOP for failing to pass the pork-packed Sandy relief bill. Today, the House passed legislation providing $9.7 billion in Sandy relief.

The Senate is expected to take up the legislation this afternoon, but some conservatives are wondering why Christie isn’t busting Harry Reid’s chops and calling a press conference to tell the Senate to get a move on immediately:

Oh, snap. Inquiring minds want to know, Governor.

Blogger RB has come out swinging, demanding action on Christie’s part. It’s only fair, after all:

Isn’t it, though? Governor Christie has so far maintained his silence, but RB’s criticism isn’t sitting well with an unverified Twitter user who says he’s Christie’s brother, Todd:

Go figure.

Sure looks that way.

Governor Christie has finally acknowledged the bill’s passing in the House:

The Senate has unanimously passed the bill:

The House plans to hold a vote on an additional $51 billion January 15.

Shhhhhh Christie is having lunch….do not disturb.

  • AlmaAlma

Well done. Don’t know what’s going on with Christie but I want the old one back.

  • Steve_J

Christie’s probably still at one of the local all you can eat buffets, loading up on pork.

  • grais

Can we wait to see if Reid pulls the bill after lying about it (like Boehner did) bfore we expect Christie to flip out? This afternoon isn’t over yet.

  • Steve_J

Who said the bill contained no pork? Wasn’t if Rep. Peter King and wasn’t it Gov. Chris Christie? I’m confused, who was the lying SOB?

    • wwbdinct

I heard Rep. Michael Grimm say this morning that the bill did contain pork when it came over from the Senate but that the House stripped it before the vote was to take place. Who knows what the real truth is? The constant chaos is tiring!

From the Classic 1982 Film, Diner:

Fenwick: “Do you ever get the feeling that there’s something going on that we don’t know about?”

That’s how I feel about our political process right now.

  • Jack Deth

Katie Pavlich: “Amazing, the Sandy Relief bill went from $60 billion to $9.7 billion.”

    As Gomer Pyle would say.

And the libs and its media will still scream bloody freaking murder!

    • grais

She’s ignorant of the fact the the bill was split into 2 parts. A $51 bill will be voted on on Jan 15, they say.

      • GaryTheBrave

I WISH it was just $51.

        • grais

          I left out a “bil.”

      • Jack Deth

And I’m pretty sure Ms. Pavlich is aware, as I am that the 51 billion in pork won’t leave the House.

        • grais

Well, then, it was a ridiculous thing to tweet. She made herself look ignorant.
Don’t be too sure that it won’t leave the House.

  • gracepmc

Maybe Christie is in Hawaii with his pal.

  • ChampionCapua

    Two Words: Public Servant.

  • BeyondPolls

Naw, it’ll never pass the Senate and it’s all Boehner’s fault or something.

  • JoeMusgo

I just followed RBPundit on Twitter. People like him and @AceofSpadesHQ are priceless.

  • to me

I am tired of the christie bandwagon and the ann coulters that support it. can we now see that the king has no clothes (ick, need to get that picture out of my mind)

  • APW

Can someone tell me where I can go to review the bill for $51 billion? I sure don’t want to see spending for Alaskan fisheries jammed in there.

  • stuckinIL4now

How interesting that the news blogs all say the bill passed the Senate but they give no other details. I heard on ABC radio news that the Senate floor was practically empty. No roll call, only a voice vote was taken and from the audio I heard just a few voices called “yeas” and there were no “nays”. Harry Reidiculous probably wasn’t even there. The bill was just so dang important to cause all that banshee screaming and foot stomping yet the majority of our overpaid slacker senators couldn’t stick around and go on record passing it. And both “new” houses of Congress are so hardworking they’re already in recess: House until the 14th, Senate until the 21st. And Christie must be off on a donut run.

  • Robert Stuch

60 billion dollars. Heh, isn’t that about enough to outright buy the stupid state?

  • Robert Stuch

I don’t know why the mint just can’t stamp him out a platinum 60 billion dollar face coin to fix his concerns. Heh heh..

  • Steve_J

Christie is setting the stage for him to try to pork out on the next part of the bill. He doesn’t need no more stinkin’ pork.

  • Tommy

Please. Liberals are just that hypocritical. Shameful.

  • AZWarrior

Boycott Nevada until they remove Harry Reid the domestic terrorist.

  • AZWarrior

    Christie is Obama’s bottom.
