Bette Midler wants the pathetic losers in Congress to hurry up and pass more laws

We know from experience that numbers aren’t Bette Midler’s strong suit, so we can understand why she might settle for simple quantity over quality when it comes to evaluating all things government. We wonder if in her world Congress is a busy workshop of happy elves hammering out one law after another on a conveyor belt.

Seriously, a new law a day shouldn’t be too much to ask. And while we’re at it, how about a few thousand more pages of tax code. Get busy, people!

And you want these people to pass more legislation? Check.

Apparently you don’t have to be smart to sing.

    • GaryTheBrave

So that’s what it’s called. I thought she was calling hogs. (TBH, I really do think she’s a good singer but not great.)

      • TugboatPhil

Gary, I really don’t think she’s talented enough to call hogs. THAT takes real skill!

        • $36544368

I heard her sing recently on a commercial, and it was awful…(sorry, just a musician’s opinion).

    • lainer51

      or good looking.

    • TocksNedlog

Bette is the proof of that.

  • GaryTheBrave

Does she not understand that every law actually erodes some of her freedoms?

    • grais

I get the idea that that sort of thing would never occur to her.

    • aegean1

It doesn’t, really, ’cause she can afford to move and doesn’t care if she’d be abandoning her home.

  • Jarhead83

    Useful idiot….

    • $36544368

A good oxymoron – with emphasis on the ‘moron’ part.

  • grais

Yeah, we need more laws! Lotsa laws! ANY old laws will do, just as long as we have More Laws!

    *oy vey, Bette*

  • stuckinIL4now

The US House passed hundreds more bills this past year that the do-nothing deadbeat Harry Reidiculous-led US Senate was forced to ignore bcuz that’s what obstructionist Harry wanted. And really all we need is ONE piece of legislation passed by the do-nothing US Senate: a BUDGET.

  • louisiana_mom

I would be happy if they went a whole year without passing a single thing… unless it was repealing the thousands of freedom taking laws already on the books…

    • TugboatPhil

YES! And every law should have a maximum 10 year Sunset Clause. If it’s valid it will pass again. If it’s useless it will be off the books.

      • cantonst

Best comment I’ve seen all day on any topic…

  • Jack Deth

One of the numerous, varied and ridiculously annoying reasons that the adenoidal Ms. Midler just makes my teeth itch.

    • mdtljt

…wow…itchy teeth…that’s pretty bad there, Jack!! I hope you don’t mind, but I may have to borrow that one…

      • Jack Deth

        Hi, mdtijt:

An odd malady. Which I borrowed from a Ross Thomas novel, “Chinaman’s Chance”. A quip one of the heroes used after listening to his very elite, effite liberal boss “poor mouth” and complain about his organization’s tacky underfunding.

  • Steve_J

I’d say 200 new laws in four years is about 12,000 too many.

  • lainer51

she should be very careful… she “almost” talked trash on her beloved Democrats…

  • Gallatin

Did any of the 200 laws reduce regulation? Nope. Did any of the 200 laws cut spending? Nope. Did any of the 200 laws cut taxes? Nope. Why Bette I agree with you they are a pathetic bunch of losers and don’t deserve to be paid.

  • Randi Starr

And she knows because she was what 18 or 19 years old then?

  • justlittlolme

ROFLMAO! Who needs Congress to pass legislation when you can do everything by pResidential fiat?

  • J.N. Ashby

They should pass less. The more they do, the more they can screw up!

  • Brian Roastbeef

Apropos of nothing, but can we all agree that her new movie looks terrible by the way?

Didn’t we get over the whole “bratty kids, hapless babysitter” thing back in like 1990? You know… around when Midler was last relevant.

  • BeeKaaay

So Midler wants more tyranny faster.

  • screamingmad

Dear Miss Midler, check out “” that should sooth your nerves for a long time. There is enough bedtime reading there to last to the next election. All NEW stuff.

  • TocksNedlog

    ‘They aren’t passing enough laws!’
The ultimate expression of the “Do something!” disease.

  • DrSamHerman

Okay, you pile of silicone and Botox, just how many budgets did your Democrat-dominated Senate pass?

  • cantonst

Bette is an extremely accomplished show woman! I just don’t happen to agree with her on many things…
