Beautiful pics: They built this; Gov. Perry thanks private sector for Austin Trail of Lights

Wait, what? How can this be?

After a two year hiatus, the Austin Trail of Lights was back this holiday season.

The private sector couldn’t possibly have built that, right Democrats? Except, they did.

Executive Director of the Run Tex Foundation James Russel said they were able to help bring the festival back to Austin because of the private sector.

“We were able to raise the money privately so it’s not costing the taxpayers of Austin anything to produce this event,” said Russel.

Huh. Imagine that.

Take a gander at what the private sector built: Just beautiful.

Of course you left out that all these donors were liberals (Austin is the most liberal city in Texas), but that wouldn’t help your narrative.

    • nc

“All” these donors? You have proof of what percentage of money came from supporters of which party?

Twitchy posted this as a beautiful display built by “the private sector.” I didn’t see any political references here, other than it wasn’t necessary for taxpayer money to be involved.

“”All” these donors? You have proof of what percentage of money came from supporters of which party?”

In other words, you’ve never been to Austin.

My point is it’s amusing to see tea party people making this sound like some victory for the private sector when this was brought to you by the people of Austin.

        • Lord Foggybottom

          You just validated him.

“My point is it’s amusing to see tea party people making this sound like some victory for the private sector when this was brought to you by the people of Austin.”

The people of Austin, a.k.a. the private sector, moron.

        • BeeKaaay

lol, he thinks “people of Austin” means the government, since it can’t mean “the private sector”. Since when does the government represent the people? They only represent the political class and their cronies.

          • v1cious

Show me where I Said anything about government. I’m well aware it’s funded by the people… but I also know Austin.

Anyway, this is a stupid argument. Here’s an actual video of the lights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPcefRDCDm8

          • BeeKaaay

If it is not the private sector (which you reject) it must be the public sector (government)

The people are in the private sector. The political class and bureaucrats are in the public.

“The private sector couldn’t possibly have built that, right Democrats? Except, they did.” (Just in case you still can’t find a political reference)

      • EEKman

Is this slogan still being used? I thought the election was over. Its another right wing slogan taken out of context originally and warped to mean anything funded by taxpayers… ooookay.

So I suppose none of those people who put up the lights has ever used a road, received a public education, went to a public college, used products that were built on knowledge gained from scientific research grants, called the fire department or police or used the internet.

it may be Austin. And the people there may lean a little to the left. But that’s compared to other Texans, not necessarily the whole country.

    • lonestar

I though the narrative was that only conservatives liked to waste electricity with these displays of over indulgence by capitalists.

    • AustinTXLibEradicator

Conservative Austinite here. Went to the trail last night with the family. No politics there! Kudos to the donors for helping to bring this tradition back to the community!

    • BeeKaaay

They can’t be leftwingwackos. Leftwingwackos hate electricity and want it outlawed because every way of generating electricity makes the environment cry. A typical leftwingwacko would rail against this huge use of electricity.

Unless it is used to power crappy break-down Volts and Leafs and whatever that Swedish thing was that we gave money to build and then they didn’t !

        • BeeKaaay

Ah but volts and leafs are used by leftwingwackos to destroy the internal combustion engine. Once that is done, they’ll destroy the volts and leafs :)

I wish I could too. Another reason for me to move to the ATX

This is a lovely display. But of course, fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, liberals in a thread gotta bicker.

  • michael s

still propping up a failed slogan. did you didn’t build that get your loser candidate the popular vote? NO. did you didn’t build that get your loser candidate 270 electoral votes ? NO. this is why voting is the best revenge(a slogan that did work) this is why elections have consequences( another slogan that did work) . Obamacare is the best cure for Romnesia. SUCCESSFUL.

    • Tom Bannigan

Rigged elections don’t prove you right.

      • EEKman

There’s one way to deny reality, it must be rigged. If you still think President Obama isnt legitimate after the last election you should go back to school or see a mental health professional.

      • michael s

rigged elections . was tagg romney who just disrespected his own dad in on the rigging?

      • jacksonjay

TIME magazine gave him Man of the Year because he tapped into the stupid ignorant people to win re-election! God Save Us!

    • BeeKaaay

This trolling is rated 1 yawn.
