Shots fired outside Washington, DC shoe store near Air Jordan Bred line

Twitchy only jokingly asked yesterday if America needed sneaker control in the face of anticipated riots and even deaths over the release of the highly anticipated Air Jordan Bred 11 basketball shoe. Earlier today, police pepper sprayed a crowd outside of a Texas mall who were waiting for the shoes to go on sale, and tonight we’re hearing reports of shots fired in Washington, D.C., this morning outside of the Down Town Locker Room.

D.C. police are looking for the gunman who fired shots outside the Down Town Locker Room store on H Street NE Friday morning.

A crowd was waiting outside DTLR for the release of the new retro Nike Air Jordan sneakers. Three people approached about 7 a.m., and one opened fire.

Several shots were fired, but no one was hit.

Time to ban high dollar tenny shoes!!!

  • sleazyrider

I think Joe Biden should head the commitee……stand up Joe!!!

  • Mike Horve

Must have been a gun free zone. In DC though, the way the education system is , he probably couldn’t read the sign

    • TugboatPhil

I think most of the street signs there are unreadable from all the bullet holes too.

  • Joe W.

I thought DC had some of the most restrictive gun control laws…..guess not…

    • Worship Dancer

it does but guess what criminals just go somewhere ELSE to GET the guns. since they don’t have lockdown in DC guns WILL get in. GUN CONTROL LAWS DON’T WORK

      • Joe W.

        That’s my point.

      • TugboatPhil

Exactly. An open and unenforced southern border would do the same thing if guns were banned in the US.

  • BeyondPolls

Maybe we should ban shoe stores.

  • Chupah Kabra

    Criminals don’t obey laws!!!! Fact!

  • nc

    What’s the deal with shoes?

  • Marsh626

Once again, we see the Left’s brown trash base committing most of the gun crime in America. Yet we White, NRA supporting, Red State Americans take the blame for it…

    • v1cious

And here I was about to commend this thread on the lack of racist comments.

  • Brian P

Its not gun control, these are animals who have these guns illeagally. No matter waht control you put in place, these lowlifes will still get a gun illeagally.

  • John Kerry’s Forehead

I knew it. All this viokence is Michael Jordan’s fault.

    • lainer51

      but did he “build” them?

  • Purple State

Guns don’t kill people, people with shoes kill people.

  • Bob Nelson

There actually have been people shot so someone could steal their expensive sneakers. And at a college nr Boston someone was beat up and they stole his sneaks (caught on video; they were Dean College students, got expelled). “While the attack goes on, a group of men yell and laugh at the victim as he is knocked to the ground and pummeled with his own sneakers” (“Is in the shoes? Gotta be the shoes!”–Spike Lee as “Mars Blackmon” in a sneaker ad)

  • bluewaternavy

The people buying these shoes are the ones that use public benefits to pay rent, electric and cable. Can they EBT cards to buy sneakers now?

  • CR

New law. Anyone stupid enough to spend $185 on ugly-ass sneakers is no longer allowed to vote for a government that is supposed to make a budget.

Also, I wonder if you had to show ID to put your name on the waiting list for the Air Jordans…

  • lainer51

how’s that “gun free zone” working out for you?

  • ratizbad

Let’s just outlaw people that voted for the Liar-In-Chief and be done with it.

  • BeeKaaay

But they outlawed guns in DC. This should not be happening. /sarc

  • Guest

Not one racist and/or welfare comment. I might shed a tear.

  • Will P.

Time for a comprehensive Sneaker Control policy in DC

  • Jillrenee

Yes and a great majority of these people probably living low income housing and get food stamps but they can sure afford 185 dollars for a pair of shoes
