Arianna Huffington: The NRA 'plays on the idea of armed insurrection against the US government'

When Erik Loomis called the National Rifle Association a “terrorist organization” and wished for the organization’s chief to be imprisoned, we cried foul.

Now Arianna Huffington is taking Loomis’ argument one step further. She says the NRA actually wants to overthrow our government — or at least is playing footsie with those who do.

Got that, everyone? Supporting the Second Amendment of the US Constitution is now tantamount to advocating violent revolution.

Like a typical low inforation voter, AH has her head in a very dark and smelly place. She has it backwards – no surprise – NRA supporters want guns to DEFEND AGAINST the government.

  • Miguel Gonzalez

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has been calling gun owners that and even “Traitors of the State” (A novel concept but not one found in the Constitution) for a while now. We even have our Insurrectionist patches with the legend: Treason Against Tyranny is is Fidelity to Liberty.

Just if a corrupt govt is trying to turn our country into a.communist state and take away our constitutional rights. I. think that it might be a problem for said govt.

  • Steve Elving

Nature of Patriotism speech. “The tragedy of our day is the climate of fear in which we live, and fear breeds repression. Too often sinister threats to the Bill of Rights, to the freedom of the mind, are concealed under the patriotic cloak of anti-communism.” What has changed now, is the cloak has morphed into anti-terrorism… Adlai Stevenson

Lovely. When the NRA suggests a legitimate use of govt resources, suddenly the Queen of the Moonbats turns into Ron Paul. She is literally arguing why should the govt. keep kids safe in school? Who doesn’t think keeping kids alive is school is a responsibility of the govt? Ok, no armed agents(which is silly in it self), Guess we can give the teachers guns, right?

  • stuckinIL4now

We don’t want to overthrown da’ gubmint–we just wanna expel the commiesocmarxist cockroaches and corruptocrats who’ve infested it and are violating and trashing the Constitution they swore to uphold and protect.

  • Red Fred

No, we want armed protection for our children to prevent another tragedy. Or perhaps you could go intervene and “talk” them out of it. Ugh. President Clinton was promoting this idea years ago. Did you forget? Or just never knew? Or decided it was not politically correct to remember?

  • ceemack

Put down the crack pipe and slowly back away.

  • RRRoark

At least she shows a glimmering og understanding that an armed citizenry can resist or even overthrow a tyrannical government which is of course what she advocates. You’d think she could see how socialism (now progressing to its virulent fascist form has served her Native Greece.

    No, foreigner,
The SECOND AMENDMENT plays on the idea of armed insurrection against the US government
    get it right

  • Bob Smooper

This woman speaks only sense! The NRA should be designated a terrorist organisation and all members watched via a government database.

It is crucial for the safety of the country that these people be watched at all times.

I am American! I am a redneck! Ahhhh speaaakkkk laaaaark thisssss.

        • $7610427

You’re a Brit, a cricket fan (specifically Yorkshire), and you eat Christmas pudding! You, also, used the word “learnt” in a post…the American past tense of learn is “learned”… We don’t use “learnt”…you Brits do that. That’s what tipped me off to go read your tweets. And, you’re a douche…trying to pass yourself off as an American! Go mind your own freakin’ business…

Oh…and that “Walker’s” bag of chips…that’s what the “Lay’s” brand is known as in England…dummy. You’re a fraud. And, not a very good one, at that…

Musket Mark has been reading Orwell again . . . and rooting for Big Brother.

    • Jack Deth

      In your dreams, Mark.

An organization based on Constitutional rights. That has safety classes for kids in grade schools. Backs and trains civilian and Olympic marksmanship programs. Has and continues to train a large chunk of local, state, municipal and federal law enforcement officers across the US and overseas. Not to mention training and certifying countless citizens to carry open or concealed.

Tell me again. How is the NRA a “terrorist organization’?

      • Bob Smooper

I believe the NRA may be funded by the Taliban but I don’t have any proof yet.

        • Jack Deth

Look at Parliament and 10 Downing for Taliban funding. Then back back to me.

  • Sunshine43

She’s a twit! And I think she’s on her 100th facelift! She’s got Pelosi sickness!

Do us a favor Arioutmyhead,go back to whatever country your accent approximates,if they didn’t throw you out to protect the gene pool.I wonder who writes her postings for her, since she clearly needs help with coherence as a second language.

  • MoxieLouise

Before I listen to anything she has to say, I want to know why she is doing a re-enactment of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I remember several years ago when she was the most conservative political pundit in the country; she would have shredded Tingles…and now?? What happened, and is it contagious?

  • TocksNedlog

Arianna, darlink, you really must do more thinkink before speakink. The NRA has not, has NOT, HAS NOT called for “100k armed gov agents in all schools”. [Which isn’t to say that LaPierre did not state his position poorly; he DID state it poorly.]
As for this “armed insurrection” crap, perhaps the next time you are counting wrinkles in the mirror you can stop and ask yourself “If I have to LIE in order to make them, then How valid could my points possibly be?”

  • BobTheUmp

By “the group” evidently she means Bill Clinton who asked for 60 mil to put armed cops in schools.

  • PennyRobinsonFanClub

Everyone should read up on a now-obscure event called “The Battle of Athens” in 1947. That’s Athens, Tenn. It was basically an armed insurrection against local government. Let’s see what one old right wing nazi-loving proto-teebagger had to say about it:

    McMinn: A Warning
New York, Monday — After any war, the use of force throughout the world is almost taken for granted. Men involved in the war have been trained to use force, and they have discovered that, when you want something, you can take it. The return to peacetime methods governed by law and persuasion is usually difficult.

We in the U.S.A., who have long boasted that, in our political life, freedom in the use of the secret ballot made it possible for us to register the will of the people without the use of force, have had a rude awakening as we read of conditions in McMinn County, Tennessee, which brought about the use of force in the recent primary. If a political machine does not allow the people free expression, then freedom-loving people lose their faith in the machinery under which their government functions.

In this particular case, a group of young veterans organized to oust the local machine and elect their own slate in the primary. We may deplore the use of force but we must also recognize the lesson which this incident points for us all. When the majority of the people know what they want, they will obtain it.

Doen’t HuffPost find their “reporters” from The Onion? There are a lot of far-left extremist hacks there.
