House Dems pushing for vote on assault weapons ban by this weekend

Congressional Democrats met today to discuss a federal ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

If House Dems have anything to say about it, he’ll get his wish very soon. They’re urging a vote on a ban by this weekend.

Dianne Feinstein is committed to reinstating the federal assault weapons ban on the Senate side and is hoping her House counterparts pass legislation of their own.

Gun control proponents would certainly support it:

The quicker, the better, right?

Great idea! Or maybe it’d be easier to just ban all gun rights advocates in Congress. That’s probably a cause Rep. Jim Moran could get behind. It’d certainly cut down on the number of people around to question his ethics.

Of course he’s cool with a ban. As long as he’s still allowed to use his fists, he’ll be just fine.

Urge your congressmen to uphold the second amendment!!! Stop this madness! Guns are a tool. The madman killed those little children not the gun.

  • Eric Myers

I will give up my “so called assault weapon” to save our children once we stop killing 3,700 babies daily in the US that sounds like a fair trade.

No rash and uninformed decisions being made here.

Nothing like knee-jerk, emotionally driven, feel good, do nothing legislation to “solve” a problem.

Nevermind that the so called “assault weapons ban” would not have prevented the Connecticut monster’s mother from buying the rifle he stole from her to use in the massacre.

I wonder if we’ll get a Nanny Pelosi quotable similar to the one during the ObamaDoesntCare “debate”…”we have to pass it to find out what’s in it”

Good luck “banning” guns. There are billions in the world. They’ll get into criminals’ hands one way or another. Maybe some country will purposely give criminals guns… oh wait, that was Eric Holder.

    Memo to House Democrats:

    No thank you.

We will wait and gather unbiased, non knee jerk information before taking any decision to further destroy the second amendment, the country and the right of its citizens to defend themselves!

AG Holder thinks it’s illegal for states to enforce federal Immigration laws,

why should States enforce silly Federal placebo gun laws?

How many guns killed the little children in Sandy Hook School?

IMHO, any law passed in the heat of the moment is bad law. They have yet to understand the Law of Unintended Consequences.

There are at least two Federal firearms laws that the murderer violated even before the first shot. Both are Clinton-era laws. One is the gun-free Safe School Zones law that states that one cannot bring a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school. The other law prohibits a person under 21 from possessing a handgun.

Instead of more gun “control” or “bans” we should emphasize active resistance. Imagine if all 20 of those kids rushed the shooter. A couple of them may be hurt but he would not have been able to kill them. What if the principal had a taser gun or pepper spray? In every case I can recall the shooter was stopped as soon as they met active resistance.

For liberals: “Assault weapon” is anything that is painted black and looks cool.

Well, damn. There goes my 1979 Trans Am….

  • Dana Elmhorst

If they pass an assault weapons ban similar to the 1994 bill violence will likely go up and the democrats will loose the senate and house like what followed the 1994 bill. this is an issue that is not about the tool. We have “Gun Free Zones” we need to eliminate the gun free zone and have staff trained at schools and allowed to carry. we need to look at a better way to secure our schools. gun laws don’t stop violence the man in newtown broke like 41 laws. It is a terrible thing that happened but an assault weapons ban will not stop another violent attack.

How about a compromise. We ban gun free zones and let people defend themselves rather than take freedoms away from people that didn’t do anything or create more unarmed victims.

OK, fine. Then what will the House Dem hand wringers ban when the next wacko blows up an entire school (God forbid).
