Fast and Furious guns claim another victim in Mexico; Time for a national conversation?

While the horrific shooting massacre in Newtown, Conn., last week has much of the nation clamoring for a renewed “conversation” on guns and their place in American society, we’re reminded today of another rash of gun deaths which it seems no one is willing to talk about. CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson remains one of the few in the media who is following the story and today reports that another death has been linked to the Obama administration’s botched Fast and Furious gun walking operation.

The latest known recovery is a Romanian AK-47-type WASR-10 rifle. It was picked up at a crime scene Nov. 23 in Ciudad Guamuchil, Sinaloa, Mexico. That’s the same area and weekend of the shootout involving [beauty queen Maria Susana] Flores Gamez’s death. A trace report shows the rifle was purchased by Uriel Patino, the Fast and Furious suspect who allegedly bought more than 700 weapons while under ATF’s watch. Records show Patino bought the rifle and nine other semi-automatic rifles at an Arizona gun shop March 16, 2010.

Hundreds of deaths have been attributed to the Fast and Furious program, including Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, who was killed two years ago. With the discovery of the rifle at the site of the shootout which killed Flores Gamez, the body count continues to rise. It’s long past time for that conversation, but Attorney General Eric Holder isn’t talking.

Yes, please. let’s talk about gun control. Let’s talk Fastly & Furiously about how we need to be very TRANSPARENT about that subject. And let’s start the conversation at the Mexico border with Mr. Holder, Mr President, Ms Clinton, General Petraeus…oh wait, let’s start it in Benghazi…(silence ensues).

    • catb55

Let’s put them all under oath … and listen to them all plead the 5th.

  • no_more_deceit

It is time for a national conversation – and it is time to remind theses government public servants that they work for US – the taxpayer.
Holder should have been tried and sentenced by now. Clinton couldn’t testify on Benghazi because she was going to Australia to test wine, but now she has a concussion? My ass she does! Is there anyone in leadership of either party that knows they work for us? It is high time all the “public servants” be served a reminder.

Of course the media will ignore this and instances when legal gun owners thwart crimes in everyday situations.

  • Bill Gryan

We might already be having that conversation, were it not for EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE.

  • Lord Foggybottom

Forget talking; take action and throw those incompetent a-holes in jail.

  • linnicy

Let’s talk about the millions of ammo that the gov. bought at different agencies. Who are they going to use that on?? Are we sitting ducks??

    • Lin Jarvis

We will be sitting ducks when the citizens are disarmed.

Remember when over 300 innocent Mexicans were murdered by drug cartels using weapons smuggled into Mexico by the Department of Justice in a botched operation that was then covered up to protect Eric Holder’s skinny ass?

    Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Jus how many weapons did Holder send to Mexico. I think they will be the death of many Mexican citizens for years to come.

  • JustLikeAnimals

Praise God that someone is finally pointing out the blatant hypocrisy of Barack Hussein and his monkey minions wailing and gnashing their teeth over how the proliferation of guns in this country has to be reined in and placed under more stringent control. All the while this braindead, dope-smoking ass-clown and his erstwhile AG, Eric “I never met a lie I didn’t like” Holder, directly arm illegal drug cartels, enable the murder of our own border agents, and spur death and destruction of innocent civilians all over Mexico.

  • BeeKaaay

The Obama Administration is racist and bloodthirsty. They want to see dead Mexican civilians.

  • Lin Jarvis

U.S. government gun-running. But they want to control law abiding gun owners here.

  • TocksNedlog

Perhaps the one thing that both left & right can agree on is that the executive branch should be banned from placing assault rifles into the hands of Mexican drug lords.

    • kenai

I doubt that, Tocks. If a few hundred dead Mexicans and a few dozen dead children advances the left’s agenda to disarm the American people I’m sure that they consider it a small price to pay. Can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, you know.

    THIS IS THE NARATIVE!!!!!!
When is the right time to talk gun control? . . .
How about when WAS the right time to talk gun control?!?!?!?!?!
When this administration armed our enemies with . . . wait for it . . .
    ASSAULT RIFLES!!!!!!
    Just ask Brian Terry’s parents . . .
(Of course if the administration is going to arm our enemies, we the people need the right to bear arms NOW more than ever!!!)

So all the congressional hearing and reports don’t count as a conversation? You got your answers in the Inspector General’s report in September. Sorry that the people responsible weren’t who you apparently wanted them to be.

    • SJ’s Dad

      WRONG!!!!
We got the omissionstrations . . . ahem . . . VERSION of answers, and calling them half-truths would be an insult to the fraction 1/2!!!!!!!!!

So the guys that gave away these guns should get to regulate them? washington.cbslocal.com/2012/12/18/cbs… … uhuh..

Only would make one change to the above; “So the criminals that gave away these guns should get to regulate them?”

  • Streetiebird

Guns don’t kill people. The ONLY problem with fast and furious is that we didn’t give guns to EVERY mexican. Now is NOT the time for a national conversation about guns.

I guess MURDER isn’t a crime for the governing class.

We need to keep talking about OBAMA’S Fast and Furious. Eventually the low-information voters will have to take notice. They’ll continue to vote themselves taxpayer-funded swag, but they’ll have to dispense with their righteous, holier-than-thou attitude and face up to what degenerates they really are.

And the republicans care about mexicans??? That’s why they voted for you…
Sorry to inform you that “Gun Walking started in 2006”

It was wrong then and it was wrong under the new name “Fast & Furious”.

Why bother with stupid little facts and research, let’s impeach Obama. Bust just made a little mistake and really is not that smart, chainey told him to do it
