Spin-tastic! Luke Russert turns Tim Scott appointment into GOP racism

As Twitchy reported, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has chosen Tea Party favorite Rep. Tim Scott to replace the departing Sen. Jim DeMint. Conservatives by and large are applauding the selection as a Tea Party victory. NBC lapdog Luke Russert, however, saw the news as an opportunity to dig up his trusty race card.

That’s right. According to Russert, Scott’s appointment to the Senate is raaaaaaaacist!!!!11! It’s all part of a grand scheme to rid the House of black Republicans. The intellectual gymnastics are truly a sight to behold, no?

Naturally, a handful of lefty dog-whistlers thanked Russert for calling attention to the GOP’s shameless racism and Scott’s status as a “token”:

Because, really. No way could a black Republican be promoted on the basis of his merit, right? It’s all got to be part of some nefarious plot!

Unlike those sneaky Republicans, Democrats would never be a party to such racism.

Hear those crickets chirping?

These folks raised a great point:

And where was Luke Russert when all that racism was going down? Why, busy polishing his lapdog race whistle!

Yeah, but if that’s true, what purpose does Russert serve, other than to be a punchline?

Indeed. Russert is in desperate need of new material. Meanwhile, maybe he could stop twisting himself into intellectual knots long enough to tip his hat incoming senator. Unlike “real reporter” Russert, Tim Scott has earned his title.

I hate to be nit-picky, but in your first paragraph, you call him “Tim Russert.”

Lapdogs will do anything to make the GOP seem like the racist party.

I don’t care what color they are. I do care what they believe in.

Well, thank goodness Mr. Scott did not judge me by race when he graciously and personally helped us resolve a dispute with a government agency. The world needs more Scott’s and less Russert’s in a position of prominence.

The left always looking to pimp race. All they see is black and white. Not America. And they work hard to defeat the republican blacks who run so why should they care then that nobody is left in the House.

Rep. Scott has been judged on the content of his character.

Hey, Luke. Did you notice that the majority of financial backers of West’s opponent were white AND Democrats? Who’s racist?

  • stuckinIL4now

Tim Scott is also only the 7th African-American US Senator in history, the 5th since voters began electing senators. The first two were Republicans elected by the Mississippi state senate in the late 1800s. The third was a Republican elected by Massachusetts voters in 1967. The last three have all been Dems from IL, the last one through an appointment “process” that cost an IL governor his job and his freedom.

Oh, and with the bad reputation the likes of Maxine Waters, Charlie Rangel, Hank Johnson and Sheila Jackson Lee give to politicians, corruption and silliness, I wouldn’t be bragging about Af-Am Dems in the House.

Who is Luke Russert and, more importantly, who cares?

I hope the new senator has a thick skin and can take all the thing that will be thrown at him. Most Conservative people I know don’t care what color their Senator or Congressman are its their commitment to our country and its Constitution we care about,. yet we are the racist, bigots and any thing bad they can find to say about us is what the Democrats will say.

What a yellow-spined excuse of a rat Luke is! Certainly does not have one millionth of his father’s grace, intelligence or wit.
