Planned Parenthood (@PPact) December 12, 2012The Michigan legislature passed an omnibus bill on Wednesday that contained several regulations on abortion practices, including regulating the “disposition of fetal remains” following an abortion (Sec. 2836(1)). HB 5711, which ThinkProgress calls “massive 45-page legislation”, passed the Michigan State Senate by a 27-10 vote. The bill will now go back to the House for a vote.
Twitchy covered an earlier story about the bill in June when abortion supporters surrounded the capital to publicize The Vagina Monologues. The reaction to the Senate’s Wednesday vote will likely be as outrageous as earlier demonstrations and, given the violence that took place regarding the right-to-work bill on Tuesday, anything is possible.
