Let’s hope the cops take out the creep quickly.

    Oregonians need more gun rights.

Why in the world are people allowed to own an AR-15…

    • Let’em Crash

      For duck hunting, duh.

    • Zane Henry

why in the world are idiot gun grabbers allowed to own a computer?

I can’t wait until someone murders someone with a Garden Weasel. Then we can call you hand wringers a bunch of Tool Grabbers.

      Why not?

        It’s made for the military

        • Zane Henry

No, it isn’t. The M-16, a select fire rifle (means more than one bullet fired per trigger pull), is made for the military. The AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle (means one bullet fired per trigger pull) and is perfectly legal for civilian ownership.

There is a version that has been implemented for use by the United States Military. However, the practical application of an AR-15 for long range target shooting is a favorite sport of many gun owners. They do not own the gun, simply for it’s ability to be modified to increase stopping power, or lethal force, but because many of our Veterans are familiar with their application and it’s ease of use. It has had some malfunctions in the past, and like any other weapon, can misfire if you’re attempting to feed the wrong kind of ammo. Also, Military Grade Ammo is not available for sale to the public, legally. And it isn’t that we are “allowed” anything, Sir. It’s a Constitutional ‘Right’ to own your own weapons. I feel much better having educated myself in the use of a firearm, having the proper storage for my firearms and also … the ability to keep my family safe should the need arise. There is nothing quite like knowing that if someone attempts to enter my home without my expressed permission, they’ll get the warning of the safety being clicked off. That’s it. I have a Right to protect myself, my children and my possessions, and I have the Right to do so by owning a firearm.

          No it’s not.

The military weapon is “select fire”, meaning it can shoot a single shot, burst of three, or full auto with one pull of the trigger.

The civilian version is “semi-auto” like many rifles, shotguns, and handguns, meaning the trigger must be pulled once for each round.

A criminal or insane person could do far more damage with a semi-auto hunting rifle in .308 caliber, or a standard hunting pump shotgun with .00 buckshot.

or with a mini cooper car for that matter. many common household chemicals can be mixed to create a toxic gas, but I hear no one clamoring for a ban on bleach or bathroom cleanser. anything can be used to hurt others. you want things like this to stop happening you need to find the cause, not the tool.

        • Gallatin

Made for the military is exactly why civilians should have one, two, three, four an arsenal.

        • Ken Alan Draper

AR-15 is not a military weapon, it has no rapid fire capability, it functions just like the ol’ .22 rifle most people have for plinking or Squirrel hunting. Just because the gun looks like a military issue weapon doesn’t mean it functions like one.

“Why in the world are people allowed to own an AR-15…”

I can’t believe that in 2012, with all the readily available statistical information regarding gun ownership, that an even moderately intelligent person could have such totalitarian views.

    • emrnitin

It doesn’t necessarily say the shooter owns it, right? He might have it illegally or got it from someone else. You know, if you want something done, you will do whatever it takes.

Why do these shootings always occur in “Gun-Free” zones?

It’s almost like people bent on murder aren’t deterred by mall rules and signs….. sheesh!

    • MoxieLouise

I’m sure he just didn’t see the signs /sarc/

This brings up the questions~ How far is Obama willing to go to push his end of the 2nd amendment~? How many followers of his is he willing to send out to sacrifice themselves; thus others, in the name of this mission~?

    • aPLWBinAK

How far? I don’t believe he has limits on what he’ll do to get a caliphate in the country formerly known as America….

Clackamas is a huge mall. And Portland is one of the most liberal cities on the planet.
