Union supporters heap shame upon Michigan lawmakers after right-to-work bill passes

As Twitchy reported, the Michigan House and Senate tonight passed right-to-work legislation that would preclude union membership from being a condition of employment in the state. The Senate was greeted with a chant of “Shame on you” from the gallery before adjourning for the week, but angry union supporters are keeping the chant going on social media.

There’s enough shame to spread it around a little.

Love all the “classy” language from those upset about the #rightowork passage. Does using the #f word make you feel big and important? More like small and miniscule. Maybe you could spend more time on vocabulary skills and less on hate.

    • Vennoye

Think they only know about 100 words……have to use them over and over. Can’t tax small minds.

  • http://twitter.com/Phelpsy64 Disciple

Awesome!!!! Now maybe BO and the rest of the Dems will stop propping up the unions.

    • Ranadicus

Not as long as the unions are propping them up

Boy…talk about sore losers!! The corrupt power brokers got beat down and they’re bitter! I can’t wait for more right to work states to come along. Bring it!

  • HARP2

Sad little people really. They just won`t admit they aren`t bright enough to make it on their own. They have to belong a gang of thugs.

  • George Washington Mclintock

Way too much grim news for our side since Barry slandered his way out of electoral judgement. Heartening to say the least. Unions won’t be able to keep 20% decrease in cost-of-living Right To Work brings from the American public forever.

  • Jim Denney

The Democrats & the unions made Detroit into a “right NOT to work” city and we all see how well that turned out.

  • Jack Deth

If this is the left’s mindless, Zombie like reaction when a Band Aid is yanked off quickly.
Imagine if the Band Aid was tugged at slowly and stopped at every whimpering wince?

    • Finrod Felagund

It is, sort of: one state at a time. Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, …

      • stuckinIL4now

In Illinois, we can only dream.

  • Vennoye

“Michigan has always been a proud manufacturing WORKING man state”….except, because of the union costs, all the manufacturing has gone to China……… Maybe there is hope for Michigan, yet!!!!! Good job…….Governor and House!!

  • mhojai

This classless A-holes talking about how someone else should be ashamed is hysterical! These thugs respect non’e “right” but their own indulgences. Pathetic losers! It’s time for the union thugs to be recogized as such and take a hike!

  • Terry

LOL on the comment from local 19 “This is NOT what Democracy looks like!!!!” Oh yes it is! A government law requiring one to join a group even if they disagree its platform, and then to have to pay it monthly membership dues in order to keep their job, is a patently undemocratic scheme. Imagine if there was a law that said all MI hourly employees must join the Republican Party, and pay $100/month in dues for this ‘privilege’, in order to keep their job.

The other thing these idiots don’t get is that the unions haven’t been outlawed, just mandatory membership has. If the union is good, people will want to be members. If it’s not so hot, they’ll lose members. Here’s a thought, if unions lose members, they need to change their platform and actions so people will want to belong. Gee, right about now I could go for a Hostess Twinkie.

    • ceemack

It’s almost as if the union supporters are saying “Freedom go to hell.”

I for one am glad, I live here with these fools and they take all the good jobs and put out sub standard work at double the cost..And if you dont know, sleep or are directly related with someone you are not working here..I hope they crush Detroit too, They ruin our states votes every time.

  • RblDiver

Evil conservatives. How DARE they make it “Right to Work” when CLEARLY it should be “Right to Mooch?”

  • FrancisMcManus

Low wage jobs cost taxpayers more.

Almost 60% of the employees in the US economy do not get benefits. This number has spiked.

In one state that has 46 Walmarts, employees are paid about $21,000 a year, and because that’s not enough for rent, food and health insurance, these same employees cost the state about $8.8 million a year in food assistance and health care costs.

Sure the goods seem cheap when you pay at the register but your sales tax and income tax pays for the state-subsidized benefits meanwhile the shareholders walk away with about 90% of the profit.

In the case of Walmart, the shareholders are the 6th richest family in the world.

Imagine, taxpayers ear subsiding employees so the owners can underpay them.

    • Todd Hill

Nice quote. From which union screed did you source those remarks? It makes for some nice lopsided figures; all wrapped up in a pretty Obama package (complete with the hysteria option thrown in for maximum effect).

    • http://twitter.com/MDMorris_1707 Michael Morris

And how does any of that mean that workers should be forced to join a union in order to get a job?

    • TomJB

      I’m a Walmart shareholder, I’m rich!?

      *checks brokerage account* *sulks*

Francis, you have no idea what you are talking about.

His was the best street theatre I’ve seen in a years, and I’m a half-hour from New Orleans. 😛

Heck, I used to live about 50 miles from San Francisco and their drama queens couldn’t hold a candle to him. If he was smart, he’d be milking things like Islamic Rage Boy and show up at protests like this.

  • lillymckim

Obama bought out GM and then sold it to the Union they gutted this state wake up MI!
just look at the cities of Detroit?Flint?
Who in this day and age in their right minds pay a third party in the USA for a right to a job?

  • radjahshelduck

There is, after all, a reason why of the 50 states Michigan is the only one that lost populaton between 2000 and 2010.

  • Gallatin

    @UAW 6 Dec 12
This is a sad day for #Michigan. State House rams through #RighttoWork legislation and Senate debating it now. #savemi

Kind of like how your dimocrat buddies in Washington rammed through obowmao care. Does the UAW still have a waiver from obowmao care? Good luck getting a waiver to RTW.

  • WhiteFalcon1

Oh, the Irony! These unions whining, pissing, moaning and groaning “THIS is what democracy looks like!”, yet when’ the People’, as in ‘We the People’, speak, through their vote and the unions lose any control or power, or as in this case, an entire state whose decided for itself that they’d rather do without these unions, the unions attack the People in the name of that same democracy?
HYPOCRITES and very poor losers is really all they are!
You LOSE! The States WIN! When its my money? (and its ALL our money) I’m against any public employee/ union member who in reality, works for ME, dictating TO me the terms under which they’ll do their work and demanding of me, conditions far above and beyond private sector unions, which in the long run, directly affect and impact MY family, so….guess its just going to suck to be them, huh?
And as some unions have sued for the right to have access to non-union employees personal information, I, as an employer, expect FROM the unions a detailed list of ALL of their members, past and present, for my companies ‘use!

Y’all use these lists to harass non-union folks, I’ll use the same lists to make damn well sure NONE of you ever work for me!

  • no_limit_neckbeard

AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! Squeal, little union-thug piggies: SQUEAL!!

Right-to-Work will become law in Michigan!!

  • justlittlolme

Um…it’s called the RIGHT to work for a reason! Maybe it’s because we’ve always been a ‘right to work’ State, but I just don’t get how this is controversial.
Would the progs feel better if we called it the Right to eat, the Right to support yourself, or the Right not to be forced to live on the street?
Do they really think the Founders believed we had to have government’s permisson to survive? Geesh!

    • Todd Hill

I think “Employee’s right to refuse Union extortion” is apropos in this case. :)

  • brewerandpatriot

Not to sound like a Democrat but we won, get over it.

  • TWG2A

Yeah, we all know those MARXIST aholes can’t stand the idea that people be free to determine for themselves with whom and what they associate. There is no way in Hell I would associate with ANY union just to have a job.

  • Seewetoldu

Ya, and how did Obama get in office for another term too….you brain dead liberal. Somebody actually trying to get jobs into Michigan and they are upset.

  • Citizen0000

scary and laughable how these people think “right to work” is Orwellian or of the Reich. Don’t they realize it’s the exact opposite?

I am tying a blue ribbon on my car antenna to signify this small win against cancer
