Frustrated at House conservative purge, some activists hope to #FireBoehner

A growing number of conservatives, frustrated by the apparent purge of fiscal conservatives from House committees, are through with hoping that John Boehner will advocate on their behalf. Today, American Majority Action launched a #FireBoehner campaign. AMA’s president Ned Ryun writes:

If Speaker Boehner wants to purge independent, bold conservatives—I think it’s time he gets fired as Speaker. Not only for the purge. He has failed to effectively win negotiations with President Obama and appointed moderate committee chairs. To the public, Boehner may appear radical but in reality he proposes milquetoast policies, like the tax-hikes he proposed this week.

Republicans and conservatives deserve a more articulate, more conservative leader. In fact, we need one if we want to keep the House majority and take the Senate. Boehner has been Obama’s punching bag and has lost every public battle with the President. Now, he’s waging an internal war on conservatives.

Remember, we lost seats in the House under his leadership. He has failed as spokesman for the movement. Boehner has been in Congress for 22 years, and he looks like and embodies the typical DC politician. Can’t we find someone fresher to lead the party forward?

The House will be voting on a Speaker in January. As Ryun points out, a candidate must receive at least 218 votes to be elected speaker, and if 16 Republicans abstain from voting, Boehner would only receive 217 votes.

The movement to depose Boehner is gathering steam on Twitter:

But not all conservatives are on board:

Whether AMA’s campaign will prove effective remains to be seen, but at the very least, hopefully they’ve gotten speaker Boehner’s attention.

So the lawmakers just passed a law to have the word “lunatic” removed from all laws – can we have all the lunatics removed from Congress beforehand? . . . get rid of Boehner too.

Great idea…thinking we would only have 2 or 3 legislators left by the time we’re finished :)

Sometimes the only way to get the attention of the mule is to take a 2×4 upside of its head. That’s what we need to do with Republican leadership, and it starts with taking a stand against Boehner.

Yeah,Crying John is no ones first choice to hold the line against Barry but he is a sincere conservative, and maybe more importantly, has made sure he isn’t going anywhere. Will I sign a petition to fire Boehner? Yes, gotta keep his feet to the fire and remind him why he is where he is. Do I think we will have a new Speaker in Jan? Nope. One silver lining:Barry Hussein’s daily insults and lies seem to be pissing John off, and therefore motivating him to stick to his guns. Not much, but maybe Obama will help him grow a spine and get a useful proposal done

Remember the anti-Morsi protestor who made a sign that said, “Obama, your Bit€h is our Dictator”? I want to borrow it and change it to say:

“Obama, Your Bit€h is Our House Speaker”

I’ve been a registered Republican since 1985. I switched to Independent this year because the GOP has lost their way. I’ll be voting Libertarian from now on.

    Who would replace him?

    • ferris209

I recommend Scott Walker or Paul Ryan. Walker has proven he has the spine to fight and Ryan could utterly smash Obama in any debate, just his presence upsets Obama.

Boehner is a symptom of the problem, getting rid of him will not fix anything since he will just be replaced with another establishment RINO goon. There will, instead, need to be a purge of most, preferably all, of the RINO establishment in the GOP if conservatives ever hope to retake it and make it effective again. Unless we are ready to commit to that and pursue it then these calls for his ousting are wasted and counterproductive.

Right now, conservatives everywhere should rally their support around those Tea Party candidates that WILL be coming to the fore before 2014 and completely eschew any repub candidate that do not truly represent conservative values, same as in 2010. Fact is that, contrary to the outright falsehoods currently being perpetrated by libs regarding this issue, the tea party has never gone away and is not going away now, nor are they getting weaker in popularity. The GOP establishment need to have it made perfectly clear to them exactly who conservatives will support for now on if they continue their attempts to neutralize the Tea Party and eliminate conservative principals from their policies.

Boehner led the two trillion dollar spending spree thru Congress the last time Obama needed cash and he’ll give in again. It’s either him or the chilli that’s making me nauseous…I’m pretty sure it’s him.

  • serfer62

It only takes 16 GOP negative votes but the Kommiecrats will vote 100% for their boy

    • thetreyman

i think you misread. it takes 218 votes for anyone to be speaker. the dems wont meet that threshold either. if 16 repubs refuse to vote for him under any circumstance then the repubs will have to pick someone else. that is unless Johnny Give In can get some dems to vote for him. it would have to be a dem elected in a repub district to get away with that though.

Fire the spineless whimp. I think he’s being blackmailed. It’s the Chicago way.

If news ever got out about John “Bawl-baby” Boehner displaying the Danish cartoons in his office, he might follow Jim DeMint out of Washington.

My gawd, I must say it brings a tear to my eye to see you all tear your Republican selves apart. Sorta warms the cockles of my bleeding liberal heart, ya’ know?
You guys play nice, now. Don’t say anything you might regret.
