Philly mayor goes to China while city goes broke

Philadephia Mayor Michael Nutter is in China this week, purportedly to drum up business for his cash-strapped city. City officials have been cheerleading the junket across social media:

But taxpayers aren’t sharing the jet-setting spirit:

Meanwhile, back in the City of Brotherly Love: “Cash-strapped Philadelphia schools forced to borrow $300 million.”

And over in China:

But hey, Philly taxpayers, at least you’re a “sustainable” city!

Question: isn’t Philly extremely run-down and violent?

Philly had (or still has since I haven’t heard about in in a while) a big issue of the “Knock Out” game (the game of black kids knocking out white people for fun). It wasn’t an issue, until an out-of-towner was knocked out, finally the Mayor came out and instead of assuring the people that this will stop and all those involved will be punished, he blathers about the hooligans being an embarassment to their race and gets a rapper to help out with the problem. I work in Philly but I never visit the sites.

Good Lord. Even the mayor of Detroit isn’t this fiscally irresponsible.

I guess he has to try to sucker the Chinese because those of us in the surrounding counties know not to enter the city in anything less than an MRAP.

He’s going to meet with the Creditors. Duh.

Doesn’t he remind you of Squidward, from Spongebob?

Philadelphia is a pit. I’m not sure anything is going to change that.
