Gun rights supporters to Costas: What about Casper, Wyo., bow-and-arrow killings?

Bob Costas apparently believes that Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins would still be alive today if the US had enacted strict control laws. But Friday’s triple murder in Casper, Wyo., serve as a reminder that it is possible to kill with weapons other than guns.

  • Peyton

Guns only account for 60% of homicides. Of the guns recovered at crime scenes, 80% were illegally obtained.

    • dwsmokin

So, if they pass these stricter gun laws, 100% would be illegal. Try explaining that to a Liberal.

      • TugboatPhil

Libs also only want police to have guns, and then they want police unarmed. Double standards are better than no standards to them.

  • David Isler

According to your logic, b/c there are other ways to kill beside guns, all ways are of equal concern or no concern. That would mean you all have no idea that guns are the first choice in murder weapons and used more in your USA for that than in the next 10-20 countries combined. To suggest there’s no reason to take seriously gun murders, let alone multiple gun murders, or those with semi automatic weapons and extra large clips makes you look as foolish as you are in your shiny emperor’s new clothes.

    • Scott

No, we just prefer freedom. And, if you aren’t from here, what business is it of yours?

    • TugboatPhil

Does it make us look as foolish as someone who thinks “clips” are used in a semi automatic?

Do you know that number of guns in America and the proportion of them to the number of gun murders? I’d say the vast majority of them, in fact proportionately almost all of them, are NOT used each year to kill people.

      Here’s your logic versus ours.

If our wives or daughters work a late shift and have to cross a dark parking lot each night, you want to remove a choice of personal protection from them and all future generations.

We DO WANT your wife or daughter to be able to protect themselves however they see fit. We want them to have all options available.

    • Garth Haycock

You’re right about one thing. Obama does have shiny new clothes.

As for everything else, you are demonstrating your ignorance of freedom. Free people have guns. Oppressed people do not have guns. It really is that simple.

“A free people ought to be armed.”
      – George Washington

“A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”
      – George Washington

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
      – Benjamin Franklin

“The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
      – Thomas Jefferson

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”
      – Thomas Jefferson

“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.”
      – Thomas Jefferson

“Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.”
      -George Washington

    • Tabitha Taylor <—- Buckets more wisdom where those came from. Our founders were brilliant men who left us some awesome information behind if only we tap into it.

      • TugboatPhil

Sadly our history textbooks are written now to exclude most of that wisdom. History begins somewhere around Bill Clinton to most folks on the left.

  • dwsmokin

Gee, Costas may be on to something. After all, a wealthy professional athlete with plenty of disposable cash could never get his hands on something if it was illegal. Stick to baseball Bob-politics is not your strong suit.

    • JeromeFJ

Yeah…don’t know if you’ve ever listened to Costas, but baseball isn’t his strong suit, either. Being a midget seems to be his strong suit.

      • Phearless

Screw you, Jerome. I’m a midget, too, and I am OFFENDED by your use of the word “midget”.

  • Carey Hayden

What about people who kill by flying airplanes into buildings? Hmmm….that’s something to consider “Bob The Liberal”.

I’m thinking maybe old Bob should lay off the Botox injections as they are doing some serious drain bamage. I don’t know if it is Botox but whatever he is doing he is looking rather freakish (I literally laughed out loud the first time I saw him doing Olympic coverage). Bob, we all get old so stop trying to look like you’re still 30 and please stop with the plastic surgery – and the tired liberal argument that no guns are a good thing – talk to an Australian and see how they are liking this reality. The only people with guns are the criminals because they will always find a way to get a gun illegally and the rest of the citizens are at their mercy. No thanks, I think the founders had it right. Just go back to broadcasting the sports and leave constitutional issues that affect us all alone.

  • brewerandpatriot

Gun murder rates may be lower in other countries, but suicide bombings, hiding-behind-a-toddler-fired rockets and outright genocide murder rates are almost nonexistent in good ole ‘Merica!

  • Melissa Banowski Anger

Don’t give liberals any ideas regarding taking anything away that might kill someone. We’ll wind up with no cars, guns, bows, knives, ropes, hammers, saws, screwdrivers, frying pans, electricity, etc. The list will be endless. That is how knee-jerk ridiculous they are!

Hey, let’s start with banning Dihydrogen Monoxide:

Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO) is a colorless and odorless chemical compound, also referred to by some as Dihydrogen Oxide, Hydrogen Hydroxide, Hydronium Hydroxide, or simply Hydric acid. Its basis is the highly reactive hydroxyl radical, a species shown to mutate DNA, denature proteins, disrupt cell membranes, and chemically alter critical neurotransmitters. The atomic components of DHMO are found in a number of caustic, explosive and poisonous compounds such as Sulfuric Acid, Nitroglycerine and Ethyl Alcohol.

Each year, Dihydrogen Monoxide is a known causative component in many thousands of deaths and is a major contributor to millions upon millions of dollars in damage to property and the environment. Some of the known perils of Dihydrogen Monoxide are:

Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.
Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.
Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.
DHMO is a major component of acid rain.
Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.
Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.
Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.
Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.

Penn And Teller have people sign Dihydrogen Monoxide Banning Petition

      • Ace Smith

Dihydrogen Monoxide should be banned! What amazes me is the easy access everyone has to Dihydrogen Monoxide, in both the home and in the work place. It has also been known to carry disease and parasites. I’ve heard that the government has massive reservoirs of this stuff and that oceans of it exist throughout the world. Very scary stuff!

        • AndiGibson

We should get Bob Costas to champion this cause, it’s for the children after all.

  • stuckinIL4now

What about HANDS? I heard a female caller to a radio show this morning, who is a victim of domestic abuse, say that the most deadly weapons of an abuser are the hands. So should we just cut off all hands? Or maybe just fingers cuz it’s kinda difficult to fire a gun without fingers. And after we ban guns as well, then do we start tackling all the violence on TV day in and day out that’s broadcast into people’s homes 24×7 on a billion channels? What will Hollywood do since they ran out of original ideas ages ago? And then what’s next–ban the violent game of football cuz then idiots like Costas will have one less forum to go out and parrot for their stupid bosses.

One of my all time favorite exchanges from Archie Bunker…

Gloria: Daddy, did you know that sixty percent of the people murdered in this country in the last ten years were killed by guns?

Archie: Would it make you feel any better, little girl, if they was pushed out of windows?

Lars Larson just obliterated Kirsten Powers talking about this on Megyn Kelly’s show. I like KP, but man, Lars clearly won that debate, pointed out all the fallacies in her argument.
