Boehner: Any increase in the debt limit must be accompanied by even greater spending cuts

Anti-tax activist Grover Norquist observes that Rep. John Boehner, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, today re-affirmed his commitment to the “Boehner rule”:

I’ve made it clear to the President that every time we get to the debt limit, we need cuts and reforms that are greater than the increase in the debt limit. It’s the only way to leverage the political process to produce more change than what it would if left alone.

Video below at 3:22:

Boehner said the same thing at a press conference last Thursday.

What is that worth coming from Weepy Johnny Boehner? How many debt increases has he given Obama since he became speaker? We are still waiting for the cuts.

You have to understand Bohner and where he comes from. He is just not big enough a person for the job. When Newt and the boys shut down the government, years ago, it was Boehner who was part of the group that stabbed Newt in the back and began Newts downfall as speaker.

Newt will be the first one to tell you that it was not going over the cliff that did him in. It was not STAYING over the cliff that did him in. If the Repubs do go over the cliff (and despite what the msm is trying to tell you, and a few of the rino backstabbers like Kristol etc., if the Repubs do NOT go over the cliff, they are toast in 2014)

The utter paradox here is that Barry also does want to go over the cliff. FOR A VERY SHORT PERIOD, two weeks at the most. That is when the GOP will take their initial and hardest hits from Barry and the msm and that is when the repubs must stand tall and absolutely make no deal whatever, because that is their lowest point. They must sacrifice the early rounds of the fight. After about two weeks, when the msm’s song is losing its popularity and people realize that it is Barry that is in the teacher’s chair, and the repubs are hitting daily two minute commercials on the free mainstream tv (not cable, EVERYONE’S living room) the tide will begin to turn and Barry and the boys will start to get really nervous. This is why it is so important, by all means, DO NOT MAKE a deal. The trick is not in going over the cliff, Obama wants that, the trick is that you MUST STAY OVER THE CLIFF for at least six months for optimum gain and total defeat for the dems, plus anything less than that, and they have lost their conservative base. Anything that even smells like ” a last minute Christmas Eve deal”, this time is the end for Repubs, whatever the msm tries to con you.The best thing Repubs can do is go home and take a super, super long Christmas, New Year vacation and tell the fam to say that you have gone to brother

      • Andrew McGibbon

The reality is, if we could have done all that there would have never been a sequestration deal to raise the debt ceiling, and we’d be calling Mitt “President Elect” Romney. Expect the Christmas eve deal

    • AJ_Olding

Hey, he has balls now and that’s what matters. Stand behind this guy.

      • Andrew McGibbon

Boehner is a Eunuch, His feckless leadership the last 2 years has cost the GOP dearly. Standing behind him will result in you being splattered with fecal matter when he runs for cover. Instead accept that Boehner will buckle and give Obama more than what he asked for.

I’m not holding my breath waiting for those cuts…

If the Debt limit goes up, spending should go down on the exact same day by the same amount. Not “cuts” in future spending ten years from now.

    • Finrod Felagund

Exactly. Remember the lesson of Ronald Reagan, who made an agreement with Tip O’Neill for $100B in tax increases for $300B in spending cuts. The tax increases happened but the spending cuts never did. If the debt increase isn’t tied to the spending cuts with the political equivalent of adamantium, the cuts will never happen.

sounds good in a ‘we’ve heard it all before’ kind of way…

boehner will cave like last time…

  • Grumpa Grumpus

    Here it is!

That same phony song as last time!

Speaker Boner has no intention of holding down the debt!

Even the most incompetent nincompoop would have learned from the last go-around!

This is.all about keeping squishies on the plantation.

Keeping the “take back the Republican Party” fiction alive, so our strength is frittered away while Boner, Grahamnesty, Pelosi, Reid finish building the machine.

Go ahead. Fall for it! Enough keep falling for it that it’s probably too late anyway!

But, for once, just try to look at people’s actions and see what they’re doing!

There’s no possible way an honest man could think that doing this again will have a different outcome.
