Rep. Hank Johnson slams GOP immigration reform vote as ‘the ugly head of racism’

Well, Democrats almost stopped short of calling it racist, but it seems they just couldn’t help themselves. The Republican-led House today took a step toward its version of immigration reform by passing the STEM Jobs Act, which would reallocate up to 55,000 green cards from a diversity program and direct them to foreign students earning advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM.

The bill would also cut to one year the wait for spouses and minor children of legal permanent residents to come to the U.S.

Most people would find it difficult to call such an immigration policy racist, but Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) found a way. While the Congressman said that he wasn’t accusing anybody of racism, he insisted the program was racist in its effect if not intent.

“Republicans have just received historically low votes from minorities in the past election, yet they want to create an immigration system that gives visas with one hand while taking visas away from minorities with the other,” he told lawmakers. “It is a Trojan horse, and the ugly head of racism will rear its ugly head if this Trojan horse, H.R. 6429, becomes law.” Really?

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said he was “personally insulted” by the charge.

Many lawmakers, though, including New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, praised the Republican effort to create technology jobs.

Some, though, are less concerned with importing highly skilled immigrants than with filling STEM jobs with American candidates.

  • BobC

Hank’s just mad because the spotlight is not on black affirmative action. He’s feeling left out.

  • Christian Heiens

And affirmative action ISN’T racist? Please. If anyone’s advocating the “ugly head of racism” it’s Johnson. I could do a better job at being a Representative than this moron. Isn’t this the same guy who said Guam was going to capsize?

    • Lawrence Malcolm

Yeah, just like the “American NEGRO College Fund” isn’t racist – LOL

  • cgraham77

Isn’t Hank Johnson the same idiot that thought Guam was going to capsize.

    • Andrew

Yep. Rep. Johnson thought that if too many military personnel moved to Guam the island would tip over.

    • TugboatPhil

One and the same. A blithering idiot advanced well beyond his level of competancy.

      • Zane Henry

he is THE quintessential example of the Peter Principle. Actually I think he would have hit that somewhere around the Wal-Mart greeter level.

    • Steve_J

That’s in addition to co-opting the National Guard to give him a ride to his house to retrieve $90 thousand dollars from his fridge, during clean up in the aftermath of Katrina.

      • peteee363

sorry, but that was a different democrat scumbag. kinda hard to keep all the nuts and scumbags straight in the democrat party, isn’t it?

        • Conservative4Ever

No it was Hank Johnson that thought Guam would tip over. It was Sheila Jackson Lee who wanted to see the planted American Moon flag with the Mars rover.

          • peteee363

as the poster below was saying, william jefferson (democrat) from louisiana had the cold cash in the fridge problem.

        • Steve_J

You are correct, that was W J Jefferson. I think he moved up to the Big House for about 13 years.

      • TugboatPhil

That was Rep. William Jefferson (D), LA. And to top it off, the first truck he was riding in to retrieve the “cold, cash” got stuck in the mud and he called for a 2nd truck to get him out.

It is hard to keep track of the corruption in the Democrat Party at times.

    • LordLieutenant

Just when you think you’re starting to understand American politics… I remember watching that clip on a friends phone in a pub years ago. We thought it was a comedy sketch.

Somebody please tell me that I’m missing something here.

      • TexSizzle

What you’re missing is the fact that leftists don’t care about intelligence or integrity in their candidates; they just want someone who will promise them free stuff.

        • LordLieutenant

Same all around the world, Tex. When the government stops taking money from a guys pay packet, the Leftist will claim you’re giving him a gift. When Government stops handing the Leftist unearned money, he’ll claim you’re stealing his possessions.

    • WinstonOrwell

Here’s a history lesson for all the brainwashed Marxist leftwing totalitarian sheeple, the democrat party invented the k k k as the terrorist wing of their party along with the racist Jim Crow laws of the south. The democrats are also ideological brethren to the -n a z i s. The acronym N a z i is short for the nationalist SOCIALIST workers party of Germany. Own your legacy of racism and fascism, leftwing hypocrites.

    • 1CatEye

And actually has people vote him back to Congress. The stupid leading the stupid. BTW, isn’t assuming all immigrants are minorities RACIST?

    • Thomas Collins

yeah, BEFORE he was re-elected! In the same shameful you-tube, you can see him ask the size of Guam, reciting it’s dimensions(I got a rough idea figuring it in my head as he asked) it’s widest point, it’s LEAST WIDEST point. etc.

  • Steve_J

In order to fill skilled Americans the schools are going to have spend more time teaching math, science, etc. instead of why Johnny had two mommies and why Susie has to daddies. They will also have to begin fostering an atmosphere of competition and less time on self esteem.

    • TugboatPhil

C’mon, Steve! Sure the US has fallen in student’s understanding of math, science and engineering. But at least they know how to recycle and that gubmint spending on food stamps stimulates the economy.

      • Steve_J

That’s true and they feel good about themselves.

  • peteee363
    • Jim Denney

      Bad pun alert:
So Hank has reached a “tipping point” in the
debate on immigration? I thought his area of expertise was more fiscal in nature, i.e. specializing in cap size.

    • Dan Thorpe

The stupidity in that clip just boggles my mind, how did he get elected?

      • Grandma HeadInjury

Most likely by the same braintrust that thought 4 more years of Obama was a good idea. I am guessing skin color MAY have played a part….

    • gr82cu2

Oh my goodness!!!!!! I had seen references to this here and there but never actually bothered to go and look at what it was about. Holy cow!!!! Did he go into hiding after this unbelievable display of ignorance? Truly pathetic! Thanks for sharing the video link.

    • Emily B

      Yikes. I’m speechless.

    • Seewetoldu

Haha, thanks for the link. I don’t know how the people talking with him can no burst out laughing. He and Biden could take that comedy show on the road

    • JackBlair

      Yes! That was priceless.

    • SpinMeNot

Watch the civilian adviser sitting behind the Admiral … she’s squirming like a 4 year needing a potty break on a cross country drive. There is a momentary flash a of “Did he just say what I think he said?!?!” smile on her face, just visible.

  • Finrod Felagund

And yet Hank Johnson is still smarter than who he replaced: Cynthia McKinney.

    • Scott

And that ain’t saying much!!! Sad to say I live in ga. Glad it isn’t in that district

    • TugboatPhil

I forgot about Cyndi Moonbat, or as Neil Boortz used to call her, “The Cutest Communist in Congress.”

Bitch, please. In 1976 it cost me half a years pay ($7,000) and a year of my life fighting Immigration to keep my LEGAL husband from Greece from being deported when he came here on a visitor visa. He had two masters degrees and a PHd. THEN, his brother and cousin were deported for working without papers in a Greek restaurant (doing jobs Americans couldn’t do), while legitimately attending medical school on student visas, and they both had masters degrees, too.

He also had a cousin who literally jumped off a Greek ship FOUR TIMES and got deported 3 times, then the last time, he LIVED IN A BASEMENT of a restaurant for TWO WHOLE YEARS before getting an arranged marriage to stay here. He THEN became a lifer as an officer in the Air Force.

Now a days, these Anti Americans raid legitimate American businesses to make false accusations about what kind of wood they make guitars out of while sanctioning illegals in freaking sanctuary cities. The corruption is staggering.

    • $22091572

I see it both ways.. we need to stop it at the boarder.. but if your a child brought into this country and you go to school. then they should beable to stay.. as for the rest of them? I dont know what is going on but each case is differnt..

  • dwsmokin

Like many of his ilk, Johnson panders to the victim mentality of his base to get re-elected. Nothing positive out of this Dem-it’s all about stoking the hatred. A sure-fire way to get re-elected forever. Shame.

  • J.N. Ashby

It’s interesting to note that Hank Johnson bears a striking resemblance to Hank Hill, sans hair, of course.

  • BeeKaaay

The fact that US Government policy says “No jobs for Americans, and only for H1B visa holders”

    THAT is racism.

So many minority US Citizens can’t get a job in IT thanks to H1B visa holders being imported.

  • Elizabeth Burtch

They just can’t drop the racist card! How is doing ones job & protecting the security, financial & economic stability of the US racist?

  • Alex

Michelle, you’ve been one of the most outspoken voices against amnesty over more than a decade. Please don’t call it immigration reform, it’s amnesty and cynical pandering’s not even going to work. I don’t know a lot about this bill, though. We should remember not to cave an inch on amnesty.

But Hank Johnson is an idiot. He thought Guam was going to capsize. Now the moron thinks this bill is white supremacy.

  • Michael Rice

How is this for a solution? COme to the US legally. Seems simple to me.

  • George Washington Mclintock

Check Hank Johnson’s efforts on hooking minorities up with sub-prime mortgages. I think he’s t he one that hates black people

  • blueniner

Enough of these racist race pimps. Obama has done more to set back race relations, than any other President, its on him.

    • Grumpa Grumpus

Well, a really excellent argument could be made the Wilson— the President who segregated the entire U.S. government, including the military, did more to damage race relations.

Of course, Wilson one of the Charter Members of the Progressive Movement and a model DumperCrat, naturally!

Margaret Sanger, Woodrow Wilson, FDR, LBJ, and the current crop of DumperCrats all are united by the belief that Blacks are inferior, and therefore require different treatment than whites.

Their actions say things need to be easier because Blacks are either too lazy or too cretineous to overcome adversity.

Their actions say they feel Blacks are incapable of mastering themselves and practicing self-control so they need to be excused for uncivilized behavior.

The DumperCrats actions say they feel blacks are reproductive animals, unable to channel the urge to procreate and keep it within the bounds of marriage, so therefore need the DumperCrats’ to be Uncle Sugar so the Baby-Daddies can continue – like animals – to rut with any LadyPart that struts by. And offer birth control– both before & after implantation– b/c they can’t think of anything but sex and rioting.

I kept underlining “actions” because lying words come easier to Progressives than breathing, but in the long-term actions are impossible to falsify.

By their fruit shall ye know them…

  • Hiraghm

While I’m not entirely opposed to these so-called “reforms”, I’m with Huffington. This is for white collar what the 19th century was for blue collar. To hell with the people we have here; import cheap labor. There’s always another one stepping off the boat.

First, coming to the U.S. is not a right. We have no obligation to allow one, single foreigner to immigrate.

Second, we don’t need immigration reform. We need immigration enforcement.

Third, we don’t need to import foreign *students* to go through our universities and learn the very skills we supposedly want them here to implement.

If we’re going to *train* these high-education workers, well, that takes us to the fourth point.

Four – the problem isn’t a choke point in allowing foreign high-tech students into our centers of higher education… the problem is that our own citizens are not being adequately educated and motivated to take those positions in our centers of higher learning. Immigrants, once upon a time, were expected to *bring* a desired *skill* with them. Not come here to learn the trade, and then nose their way into our economy.

And, quite frankly, I don’t give half a squirt if Acme, Int’l can find enough physicists. I have the mental capacity to learn some of these “high skill” jobs; at $1,000 an hour, I’d have more than sufficient motivation. 30 years ago, if I could have gotten the sponsorship of one of the companies now weeping for high tech workers, *I* could have filled one of those jobs. And so could have many other Americans.

Ah, but American employers must be made exempt from the very laws of supply and demand upon which they themselves depend for their survival.

  • medicinewomantwo

Gee, did the liberal blacks who voted for him not see this coming………

  • Peyton

I don’t want unskilled workers, I have no need to import people who need welfare.

  • LL1885

More amazing thoughts from Genius Hank Johnson…

  • stuckinIL4now

Isn’t it interesting how racist Hank points out that the Republicans just got historically low votes from minorities this election–so, then it’s really all just about buying votes and he’s just another greedy politician who cares more about keeping his elected office than he cares about any minority or about any of his constituents cuz this guy’s so stupid he probably can’t get enough votes if he doesn’t buy them.

  • $1014973

Hank Johnson is a marginally functioning retard who only got elected to congress because he’s black. He makes Forest Gump look like a genius.

  • Jack Deth

When exactly was the last time something coherent came from Hank Johnson’s lips?

    • mickeyco

      That would be never.

  • Rulz

“nice you r committed to foreign STEM grads but what about citizens & your own constituents who need #HR3032 to keep their jobs?”

They tried, but Harry Reid and this administration aren’t interested in pro-growth policies.

DOA just about every time in the US Senate!

  • HannahJK

Hmmmm. Most of these imported PHD’s are Asian, Indian, etc. Not the hated white males so how is it racism? If anything it’s proof of the opposite.

    • La’Milton

Thats the mos rasis thin iv evr herd

  • JackBlair

Isn’t Mr. Johnson the gentleman who worried that Guam was going to capsize due to overpopulation?

    • $1014973

      Yes he is.

  • Nina Costa Perruccio

I wrote on Hank Johnsons facebook page that he was himself a Racist. Now , I cant leave a comment anymore.. It seems Hank Johnson wants to amend the Constitution when it comes to free speach for corporations. Because he says corporations are not people..This congressman is a total disgrace to the office, and should be voted out of office. I think I will move to Georgia and help remove this Racist..

    • moonsbreath

We need all the help we can get. Georgia’s districting is all screwed up. I live in another county (Gwinnett) which is completely Republican. Just a sliver of my county goes into his district, which is where I live. His district is primarily Democratic (DeKalb County). He will never be voted out. FYI, it’s the same district that gave you Cynthia McKinney.

    • WinstonOrwell

Of course he disabled your ability to leave a comment he disagreed with. All brainwashed Marxist totalitarians need to try and silence anybody who disagrees with them. They can’t help it, it’s their inner fascist trying to break out. Free speech is a two way street, Marxist hypocrites.

    • $22091572

      Good for you!!!!!

  • moonsbreath

We have enough low skilled illegals in this country. Hank’s own district is drowning in them.

  • Oscar Furter

Just another racist covering up his racism by calling others racists. It is people like him when they can debate the issues they call people racist – just to heat up the racist arguement in the USA.

  • patmich99

It must be horrible to live with such psychosis on a daily basis and think anybody who disagrees with you is racist. Such a disgrace to Congress.

  • Lawrence Malcolm

We already have a “diversity” program – it’s called L.I.U.P.I.F.M.T.V.F.D. (Let Illiterate, Undereducated People In from Mexico To Vote For Democrats) – so why not spare a few “green cards” to those who actually have a productive way of contributing to our society instead of being an automatic burden?

  • judy w. miller

All may thank Johnson’s equally moronic constituents.

  • Obama Lies

So if we want people that come to this country to actually be of some value TO the country, we’re racist?

  • toreilly

    racist, racist, racist…. tiresome people

  • sgb1

Since illegal immigrants come from every country on the globe, I don’t see how a policy to regulation illegal immigration could be called “racist”. It seems to me that is really a stretch.

  • Ralph_Gizzip

The only “ugly head of racism” I see is Rep. Hank Brown.

  • lana ward

How do these people get elected? I can’t believe so many Americans are clueless

  • DorothyGrissom

Oh. No. Not the race card. Again. *sigh* *yawn*

  • cindy nowicki

This is the same idiot who thought Guam could break off and fall into the ocean if too many people lived on one side of the island! Typical democratic representative!!

  • Jer

Does anyone take anything Hank “Capsize” Johnson says seriously? Don’t worry Hank. All the racists will be on one side of the Trojan horse, causing it to tip over.

  • RalphTheCat

    UGly head of racism?
    Look in the mirror lately?
