Hungry kids revolt against Michelle Obama’s tiny school lunches

GQ ruffled the feathers of Michelle Obama fans yesterday by naming the first lady to its list of “25 Least Influential People Alive,” but her influence looms large in the nation’s school cafeterias. Voters turned out in force to demand a second helping of Barack Obama, but Michelle’s signature effort, the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, has left a lot of hungry kids hoping for a change back to larger lunches.

It’s not the first sign of a student uprising against #MichelleOsSchoolLunchMenu, which earlier this year inspired a hit YouTube parody, “We Are Hungry.” Now, with not a Twinkie in sight as far as the eye can see, the kids are getting cranky.

Hmm… By 2016, many of these hungry kids will be even hungrier. Is this the issue that could win the youth vote for the GOP?

  • Kirisu

And all these hungry kids will be jobless thanks to her hubby… Hungry, Jobless, Broke…

    • Christopher Smith

We will be lucky if a large amount of their parents don’t end up jobless. January 1 tells the tale of higher taxes and increased strain in the middle class. This after saying the middle class would not be taxed higher.

    • Jason Hunt

You know, Queen Obama could be preparing our kids for eventual homelessness…

      • http://www.youravon.com/kelliealexander Kellie Alexander

        excellent point, Grasshopper!

    • dr44

And if the last election was any indicator, they’ll vote for Demmycrats anyway!

  • Jimmy

I have experienced this firsthand. Even the lunch ladies complain about her. They know the new food is terrible.

  • Michelle

I think Michelle Obama needs to get her own body in shape before worrying about the nation’s kids. And for the record, her arms are not toned, not by a long shot and the fact the media keeps saying they are is further proof of how delusional they are.

    • stuckinIL4now

FLOTUS first has to quit sneaking downstairs to the WH kitchen in the middle of the night and raiding the fridge and the cupboards–not like that’ll ever happen.

  • Leek

I wonder how they concentrate on studies when they’re thinking about how hungry they are. Perhaps the goal is to create more low-income adults who need a govt hand out. Well played, Michelle Obama, well played.

  • highroller2012

You little disrepect little imps like your parents. Get fat eating all that processsed garbage!

    • Grandma HeadInjury

Lemme guess….English isn’t your first language, is it?

      • Jay Stevens

        Even worse, maybe it is.

        • 6cheri6

Yup…public education is alive and well.

      • Vennoye

Sure it is….that is just public education, lefty herdthink diction and spelling! Your tax dollars at work!!

        • Russ Ramey

You beat me to the punch…

    • Russ Ramey

Your display name speaks volumes… processed foods are a major cause of obesity, no doubt. But the statist approach treats all problems like a person with only a hammer for a tool, we are not all nails to be driven…

  • Sharon Lasky

My daughter always tells me how hungry she is now with Michelle’s lunch program, but don’t worry…they aren’t hungry at the WH. Check out Michelle’s butt.

    • Jay Stevens

But she does have “toned arms”.

      • dogluvr

Yeah, but they got that way from her lifting her fork from her plate to her BIG MOUTH!!

    • Grumpa Grumpus

      @Sharon Lasky:

We Bakers know lard when we see it.

There’s a couple thousand pie crusts thete!

      • Jerry Koszut
    • Sara

Yeah, her big ass is eating thousands of tax payers dollars worth of food a day, but our poor american children have to starve at school. Sickening!

      • Grumpus mom

“let them eat cake” comes to mind

        Moochelle Antoinette? Never!

        • tredglx

          “Moosechelle”

      • torpedoman2002

That reminds me of my history classes in 1700 , 1800 Europe. The people were starving but the royals were throwing good food out for the pigs by the Michelle O butt loads. Yep Our royals are eating well

    • Isabella1709

Plus she is feeding hundreds of her friends on our dollars and taking them on her lavish vacations. What a mooch! There is a nasty phrase for this practice that even I won’t put into print.

    • http://twitter.com/andybear32 Andy Hebert

And look at Michelle’s kids…bean stalks. I think she starves her own children.

      • Grumpa Grumpus

        @AndyHebert:

Now I have to take exception to that!

The First Appetite does not starve her own children!!

        Their situation is very understandable!

They don’t don’t want to get in the way of Those Jaws when The First Appetite scents food!

They lose two or three handlers a week by that sort of carelessness!

Well! Here’s to another four years of watching the breakfast caravan of semies bringing The First Pestilence™ her first breakfast!

Second breakfast.is usually at SeaWorld’s whale tank… tell me– missing more than two whales-a-day lately? I hear moooooooshelle’s a nervous eater.

    • okihadit

no, michelle is not hungry, but her daughters look hungry!

  • louisiana_mom

My son not only blames Michelle but also every Democrat in Congress for passing this bill… I made sure he knew exactly who to blame. He has told everyone he can at lunch.

    • sybilll

There was no bill, and there was no vote. This was an edict by Mrs. Obama herself. No one had a say but her.

      • Michelle

Yes, there was a bill. It is called the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010” Congress passed it. It addressed many things regarding school lunches, one of them being a mandate to get school lunches down to 850 calories or less.

      • louisiana_mom

        Yes it did…

Policy Pick: The House of Representatives Passes the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010

From the article: The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, approved by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama on Dec.13
        http://www.first5la.org/articles/policy-pick-the-house-of-representatives-passes-the-healthy-hunger-free-kids-act-of-2010
One of those little bills they passed without much fanfare it seems…

        • sybilll

Please re-read that bill you attached. That was a feel good bill, with a feel good name that was passed to expand meals served in schools to include dinner. It mentions nothing about calories/serving sizes of school lunches. It reinforces my position that all school lunch guidelines were an edict by Mrs. Obama. And yes, taxpayer dollars are now being used to feed kids breakfast, lunch AND dinner…..at school.

          • sheshell801

She spent 19 million tax payer dollars for a chef to redesign the lunch menu at an LACali. school district. e kids started a blck market within the school so they would not be hungry. Kids cannot concentrate if they are hungry. It is also done to dumb down our youth even more than they already are.

          • BobM001

Just like Jim Jones did at Jonestown. Remove certain nutrients in his followers diets to affect the brain. In a sense, “dumb it down”.

          • Michelle

sybilll – the bill gave the USDA authority to do to school lunches precisely what they are doing – making them smaller and lower in calories. The bill, turned into law, then turned into a Federal guideline mandating schools to make lunches 850 calories. Yes, this was done by Michelle Obama AND Congress. Yes, it was initiated under the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010”, yes, it gave permission to the USDA to mandate the schools follow these Federal guidelines. Yes, these guidelines went into effect August, 2012.

          • Michelle

Here sybilll – Since you don’t believe what’s being said to you on here, maybe the NYTimes can better explain it to you. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/06/nyregion/healthier-school-lunches-face-student-rejection.html?pagewanted=all

          • sybilll

No offense, but your timeline, and your reading comprehension, are wrong. Congress passed the dinner at school initiative, then Mrs Obama set the guidelines that encompassed school lunches as well. Bottom line, Mrs Obama is controlling our children’s food intake, as well as us adults. Try to find a KingSize Snicker’s bar. You can’t. She strongarmed the Mars Candy company into discontinuing them. If you are OK with that, carry on.

          • Michelle

You’re unbelievable. You were given a few links explaining that the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 resulted in Federal guidelines for smaller, lower calorie LUNCHES at schools and you still argue with the facts. Talk about reading comprehension problems…

Oh. my. wow. OK sybilll – I’ll help you follow the bouncing ball:

            1. Lousiana Mom said her son blames MO and every Democrat in Congress for passing the bill.

            2. You then said there was no bill, there was no vote.

            3. Louisiana Mom provides you a link outlining the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010” and in that outline is, “Requires the United States Department of Agriculture to revise the nutrition standards for food and drinks served through the CACFP program to make them consistent with the most recent national dietary guidelines.” In other words, In August of this year the guidelines mandated in the 2010 bill were put in place by the USDA – thus the tweets from kids that they are hungry. I also provided you with a link to an article in the NYTimes about the bill and it’s current effects on school lunches, once again – the topic of this entire Twitchy discussion.

            4. You continue to argue there was no bill, although you were provided two links about it, but instead suggest I am the one with reading comprehension problems.

            5. I provide you with more links to show you that the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 is indeed what mandated Federal guidelines for lower calorie lunches (the bill you claim never existed), you continue to ignore the facts provided to you and go on to call me a liberal/fascist (for reasons I’m sure make sense to you, although an entirely false assumption). I didn’t vote for Obama, not once, not ever. Cannot stand the man on any level.

You are all kinds of extremely special. Have a good night and I hope things get better for you.

We sell King-sized Snicker bars. I sold one last week to a guy who was making ‘snicker-doodles’ with them.

          • GaylePutt

So people who like their King Sized Snickers just buy two instead…voila! King size Snickers Bar. And not everyone who buys a King sized candy bar eats it all at once.

          • Aranna Vallotton

buy two lol, Question, Do you think if we let them to tell us what size is allowed, they will start denying a sale? If the person buying the snickers is fat or has acne? What if your short and they refuse to sell you a coffee cause it will stunt your growth? The possibilities for regulation and control are endless. Once we start letting the government Take over they never stop!

Hmmm, I’ve never seen dinner at the high school where I work. Are a lot of schools serving it? We shoo the students away at 2:15…

My son’s school lets out at 2:30 and I don’t think the teachers want to eat dinner at school since most bring their own lunches.

  • digitalPimple

This 17 yo the other week said the HS kids were singing in the hallways something like, “eat it Michelle…” they got their cheese-sticks back. They seemed very excited about it.

    • stuckinIL4now

Good for them. And while I know what they meant by “eat it Michelle” I’m sure she doesn’t need to be encouraged to eat anything–it’s automatic.

    • Russ Ramey

Our daughter said same thing, she voted against ObamaSnare BTW. Moochelle is not very popular in my area…

  • http://twitter.com/BlissDesignz Tabitha Taylor

Yeah they’ll be hungrier! News today said Obama was going to tax fast food the way cigarettes were taxed because it’s just such a bad thing for us.. The luxury tax tyranny begins soon, so I bet they’ll be HUGE fans after that! Even more so after they graduate & are unable to make a living with which to feed themselves. Welcome to ObamAmerika

    • GaylePutt

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why doesn’t he just concentrate on the important things…foreign policy, the budget, yeh, stuff like that.

      • 6cheri6

Cuz he’s still campaigning instead of meeting with Congress. He knows how to campaign, but not what to do when the campaign is over.

And this is another reason why I’m happy to be home-schooled.

Maybe if enough of my generation gets teed off at her socialism, they’ll come over to the good side. Not only do we have cookies, we’ll let you eat them!

    • Christian Orpinell

Funny thing is I’m homeschooled now. Tons better than any public school I’ve been to.

      • Vennoye

GOOD for you, Josephine and Christian!! You will both have a better education than public schools, have better lunches……and actually be able to think on your own..instead of herdthink. Congratulations to you and your parents!!

        • Mr. Grammar/SpellCkr

AMEN to that! I second your comment.

    • Emily B

This is so refreshing to hear! I just started homeschooling my two younger children this year and we LOVE IT!! No tiny lunches for us!!

      • http://amandakmelson.wordpress.com/ GreenEyedGal

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have fat kids than kids who can’t read, write, perform simple math and think for themselves. I homeschool my three boys (two teens and a four year old). They eat when they get hungry and they are always learning. My two older boys have something of a mythological status with the people we know. They’re funny, compassionate, just, can differentiate between right and wrong, and actually spend time thinking about things many adults haven’t tackled, i.e., Calvinism, pure capitalism as defined in Atlas Shrugged, third parties and their effect on elections, and so on.

And on top of all that, even though they work at Chick-fil-A five or six days a week and eat at least one meal there, they’re not fat! So put that in your pipe and smoke it, Michelle Obama.

But back to my original thought: Better fat than stupid. You can fix fat. You can’t fix stupid.

        • Emily B

Agreed. And none of my children are fat either. They even eat junk food sometimes *gasp*! But, then, I actually have the ability to use my brain and limit junk food/provide healthy food for them/teach them proper nutrition. I even pay for it myself!

    • Betty Jones

Love the way you think Josephine. Home schooled my children. Only way to go. A Good conservative voters.

    • Guest

The school I went to didn’t have a cafeteria – thank goodness!

  • Wikiworf

My grandson says everyone at his middle school hates Michelle O. He says that every other day they have yams that are not cooked all the way through. They all go in the trash. No corn, no potatoes, no green beans, no jello with fruit and a tiny carton of skim milk. He may be only a 6th grader, but he is 5’9″ and needs enough food to keep him focused in the afternoon.

I’d like to see FLOTUS eat at his school and not go directly to Whataburger when she leaves.

    • ceyanne

I hear you. My daughter is in 8th grade and almost 5’11 and she’s an athlete. These school lunches are pathetic. Any day she buys lunch she is either left ravenous by the time she gets home or having to spend extra money to get more food at lunch, She had a great lunch lady last year who would always load up her tray as much as possible, though. My daughter is one of the few students who will eat any vegetable you put in front of her, so she’d load her up with veggies. My daughter would usually be one of the last in the line, so the lunch lady knew how much food she still had left to get rid of and could take care of my daughter. :o) Unfortunately, that lunch lady left after last year. 😮

    • http://www.righthook38.com righthook38

1/2 cooked yams? Gross. I just noticed “kale chips” on my daughter’s school menu. I never heard of kale chips, so I looked them up. They may taste good, but they look totally disgusting. I can’t imagine any 6th grader would eat those.

  • nosyjme

My Kids are always STARVING when they get home from school now… and they know who to thank for it!!! Moochelle needs to worry about her own kids, if they even are, and leave ours alone!!!

    • ImTheNana

And the stupid thing about this is that kids will come home and gorge to make up for it, eating more at a later part of the day when their bodies don’t have time to work it off. SMH

  • Christian Orpinell

Hahaha wow take a look at the food in El Paso TX. It’s pathetic! I had to pay 5 cents for a spoon even though I was on a “free” lunch at the time? Eating small crap got old after a few days so everyone goes across the street during lunch break to eat at McDonald’s or anywhere else other than the cafeteria. What a joke Michelle is.

  • Michelle

I would like to see Michelle Obama go an entire school year eating exactly what these kids are eating at school. I bet her own kids eat better during the day.

    • Russ Ramey

The private school menus are available, and yes they eat much better. The calories are the problem, you can eat a lot at 850 cal, but you have to provide better protein and slower carbs that they’ll actually eat. This cold turkey process demanded by the food nazi’s is not working. But welcome to the statist approach to problem solving, the motive is right though not the Feds responsibility. The parents are the problem for letting the state control our childrens’ education. What has been the result? The 2012 election of progressives and their santa claus approach to mob rule.

    • msmtl

  • sheshell801

Paula Deen had Michelle Obama on her show and stated Michelle ate like there was no tomorrow during breaks. Stated Michelle said they all likeeat fried shrimp. So she is doI say and not as I do kind of gal.

  • stuckinIL4now

Maybe it’s time to bring back an element from the 60s–kids should have an “eat-in” at school where everyone brings to school all the sandwiches, chocolate milk, sugary drinks, snacks, cookies and whatever else they like to eat and have a picnic in their school cafeterias.

    • ceyanne

Except that some schools have the lunch monitor Nazis who will actually throw out “unapproved” foods that you send in from home.

  • medicinewomantwo

I pack extra protein drinks and snack bars on top of sending about 20.00 a week per child so they aren’t hungry, they are both in school athletics and karate afterwards. I am lucky to be able too do this, but they have both been told if some says they are still hungry to offer a dollar or two so they can get something extra. No child should be hungry in this country, there is no excuse, politics aside.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1383919533 Alex Summer

While our children go hungry, hers are full. While we tighten our belts and purse strings, her family lives and vacations in luxury. While we Americans do without, they live in unabashed excess. The first family mocks us, “live as we say and not as we do”, seems to be their motto. They have done nothing to build up America, in fact they seem intent on breaking every last one of us, kids and adults alike. They are UNAmerican, they are pathetic.

    • Russ Ramey

Fair, just, fair share, sustainable, eco-friendly…who decides? The state, we are on the slippery slope. Wake up folks, time is short.

      • 6cheri6

Not only on the slope but nearing the bottom!

      • Finrod Felagund

Not only have we gone down the slope, but we’ve gone over the cliff. The only thing left is whether it’s going to be a hard landing or a crash landing.

    • GaylePutt

I am sooooooooo sick of everyone trying to make life fair. It never has been, isn’t, and never will be. Quit whining and EARN it if you want it. I’d have ripped that teacher a new one.

    • http://www.righthook38.com righthook38

Let that happen to my child. I’ll be in there so quick, it will make their heads spin. What a crock!

The problem with “fairness” is poverty.

I thought children were “at risk” for hunger across the USA?

That study, used by Proggies to meddle in our lives, was from pre-Stinky America.

It is as phony as everything else Proggies say. If you look as the definitions, “at risk” means something on the order of they “might have a possible delay in procuring a snack or meal, or forego a snack or meal, sometime during a month”.

I used to have the exact wording, along w/a link, but an FC on my Droid that caused a bug to put the OS into endless reboot necessitated a “factory fresh” reformat of my Droid Incredible…

If anyone has an URL to the study analysis I would appreciate it.

If anyone can help w/that, thanks in advance!

If their parents cared they wouldn’t be at public school suffering Moochelle’s lunches anyway

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_43LQE4VYDAPYKV2UV2JIHEKTD4 Sig

I really resent that comment. Yes Public School isn’t a panacea, but my kid was in a Catholic School until October of this year, when we pulled him because of a horrific bullying problem that the school refused to address. My child, yes, a nerd, was getting more and more depressed and despondent, and began talking about suicide. When your eleven year old starts talking about suicide, you have to listen. I know that not all private schools are the same, and there are many good ones out there, but ours was not meeting my son’s needs. He was getting a good education at the expense of his self respect. Rather than remove the problem kids from the school, the school is allowing the other kids to leave in droves, wringing their hands and wondering “what to do”.

We made the right choice for our child. He is thriving at his new school, making a ton of friends, meeting other nerds, joining nerd clubs, and doing nerd things. He hasn’t mentioned offing himself in weeks. He comes home happy, and he is a pleasure to have around the house.

There is good and bad to any educational institution. Our Catholic school gave our kids a great value based education, and backed up the morality that we teach them at home, through some very important and formative years. Now, I feel confident switching them over to public school that they will have their morals and values to draw on as they move through the system. All we can do is the best with what we have, and good parents raise good kids regardless.

James, not everyone can afford to send their children to a private school, and some cannot afford to stay home and home school. Not everyone has that option. To insinuate they don’t care about their kids is pretty ignorant.

They will also have les chance to score a pell grant to help fund college as Obama cut that. Media would not expose until after election. Colleges just sent notices to students this week. Thanks to Obama, these kids will be competing for college financial aid with millions of illegal aliens that just received the DREAM Act amnesty. Sin verguenzas.

If Moochelle had any sense – or experience raising children – she would restructure the cafeteria to make the leafy greens etc. bottomless (i.e. they can go back for more). Limit the processes carbs and provide one serving of meat that must be eaten before you get seconds. It can be done, we do it in our house all the time. As for school lunch, we pack. What they serve is so lacking in quality. I don’t want my kids eating stuff that is coming out of cans and packages.

  • Sara

This is disgusting. That bitch has no right to say what kids in school are eating. Some children don’t have much at home, and rely on the food served at school as their major source of nutrition. I say ALL PARENTS boycott this B.S. and pack your kid’s lunch. Don’t allow them to eat at school. That will show that old jersey milk cow– and by the way, wonder if her big ass is eating low calories????

  • disqus_s3jEoRrsQy

most of the kids get free lunch,at alot of schools.
I guess this is 1 place we could cut Gov. spending

  • George Murrey

Before the least influential person pushed her agenda to push $4billion into the school lunch programs, $2billion was already into play. Now the kids get less for lunch and pay more, leaving kids hungry. This is our gov’t that has taken over our kids lives and they aren’t happy. Another gov’t program that hasn’t worked. Now, where have we heard that before?

  • Garth Haycock

I’m glad my kids are in private school. I’ve had to increase my time working to be able to continue to afford the cost of private school, but it’s worth it for two reasons: my kids are not being brainwashed in public school by the revisionist curriculum of the Obamabots in charge of public education, nor do they come home from school hungry.

Mrs. Obama cares not one bit about the health of the children. Her only goal – which is the goal of all progressives – is to control the lives of the people. She can take her alleged healthy school lunch program and shove it up that fat backside of hers.

  • megandrewsmom

Unfortunately, this might be the only meal a lot of kids have all day. This was the only thing keeping them from starving and now they have even less. It’s just like taxes!

Typical after school conversation between my son (who’s 7) and myself…Son: Mommy I’m hungry. Me: Did you eat your lunch? Son: Yes Mommy but it only had 2 things that tasted good and I don’t eat salad. He will then want to eat the equivalent of a second lunch and then eat dinner two hours later. They are given salad every day as one of their vegetables (they get two) and two choices of fruit and a protein with a whole wheat roll. I don’t know of a lot of elementary kids that eat salad much less want it five days in a row. Every Friday they do get pizza, which is a 3.5 x 3.5 square. (Yay) And the price has gone up this year as well. (Rant off)
The school that my son goes to was given some sort of “Good job at changing the lunches” award by Michelle O last year so they’re not going to change back to giving a bigger, better tasting lunch.

  • Peyton

          • Isabella1709

I sympathize Lisa, some schools and teachers feel they are the ones that know what is best for our children, and it can be a real struggle. My “H” has to use ALL her negotiating skills at times and does get weary of being “Switzerland” in order not to alienate people. 15 years in the investment & commercial banking has helped learn these skills! My wife was telling my son what they were having for lunch the next day at school and out of the blue he said “I hate Michelle Obama.” I just thought it was funny because even though we talk about her husband a lot, we don’t talk about her. Maybe childhood obesity wouldn’t exist if parents didn’t have to be afraid to let their kids play outside and not be molested, raped, murdered, or given drugs. 200,000 people a year die from Diabetes. 6.5 million people a year die from tobacco products. I think the kids should do a protest everyone bring their lunch for a month but go outside and eat it on the lawn or in the school parking lot. Or have a parent pick the kids up or go to the school and bring lunch for them to eat. Where are the veggies in this photo ?? Why are they eating PRE Processed Chemical filled meat and white bread ? And a preservative filled cup of fruit ? Schools don’t have the money to purchase all the fresh veggies, they no longer COOK at a school All they do is microwave or open a box / can. When I was in grade school they actually COOKED FRESH every meal. Heck they hadn’t invented microwaves yet because we hadn’t been to the moon yet. FLOTUS has more junk in the trunk than most hippos and looks like a friggin Amazon next to other first ladies of other countries. She is FUGLY and so are her kids.

This is a tax plain and simple. it is about generating funds rather than nutrition. If a child wants more then they CAN buy it. Where is the concern in nutrition if you are ALLOWING them to purchase more in order to have a full stomach. As a Chef and parent, this disgusts me.

I’m not going to insult the POTUS or the FLOTUS… I believe this is why we should have less federal involvement and more local involvement. This should be handled on a state level. The problem is the libturds voted this type of “we know better than you” progressivism into power and then voted again to keep it in power. You can’t have your cake and eat it too… Why? Because there are too many calories in it….

  • http://Twitter.com/jkerrysforehead John Kerry’s Forehead

All three of my kids (2 now grown) used to love getting the “hot lunch” from the cafeteria. Now, my 11yo refuses to eat at school. She makes sure we pack her lunch from home every day. One day she forgot her lunch bag. Called me at work and made me bring iher lunch, even though she has money in her lunch account at school. Another shining example of GOVERNMENT FAILURE!!!

  • 1smartunlazymom

Here’s a thought: Pack you’re own damn lunch if you’re so hungry. The most healthy way to eat is 5 small meals/day. Why should we have or children gorging themselves halfway through the day? Pack them a healthy freaking snack!

    • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

I’ve never been to a school that allowed you to eat in class, which is what would happen in order to eat five meals a day. College is a different story but it depended on the professor.

    • gekkobear

It used to be the free school lunch goal was:

“At least the poor kids will have one good meal a day”.

      Now the liberal mantra is:
“Buy your own food, we won’t give you anything with any calories”.

Let me guess, you’re still really really compassionate? Just starving the poor “for their own good” right?

  • Kelly Johnson

and yet they brew beer @ the WH…. wtf….

  • Gtrjag

Not everyone needs the same amount of calories. When I was in high school I played football and had to consume enormous number of calories just to keep weight on. If other people ate what I ate they would weigh 300 lb. When the Government starts mandating things like this they treat everyone the same. They don’t take into account peoples differences. Government does not know best. They should stick to doing what their supposed to do and leave us all alone.

    • gekkobear

One size fits nobody is the only policy you get from bureaucracy.

Liberals still don’t know this… I’m not sure why.

  • Nancy Lester Fontenot

O.K. so I am older. When I was in school in the 60’s, there was not one overweight kid in school-not one. It wasn’t because we were starved to death either. We had a mandatory phys ed class everyday, every year. Dressing out, showering and playing organized events. There was no choice to be exempt. We had a full lunch, not a salad line, pizza line, or processed soy burger or chicken line. Everybody got the same thing. Sure there were days that some things were not appealing to everyone but there was always an option to trade or bring something from home. We never, never, no not ever had soda or snack machines to eat garbage and guzzle sugar drinks all day. Recently I had lunch with my grandaughter at her school. For $2.50 I had 1Tablespoon of baked beans, 3 chicken strips with gray filling and 1 milk. Was not edible. Not only have the calories been cut but what is being served is hardly being eaten because it is actually garbage. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, milk and fruit would be better than the toxic gray stuff the kids are getting now. Michelle is disgusting if she thinks this is acceptable. I’m sure she would’nt eat it let alone even smell it.

@facebook-1703181085:disqus – you’re lucky that it was $2.50 (sarcasm) that costs us $3.25 and that’s up from $2.75 last year.

My kiddo had a school lunch once. That was enough for her. Bagged it after that.

Home schooling like home cooking is far superior to the government alternative to both. Homeschoolers here too.

The kid who says s/he is bringing her lunch may find a nasty surprise. Remember the story about the turkey sandwich lunch that was confiscated and swapped out for some crappy school food totally devoid of nutrition (some nuggets or something)?

I watched a movie that was made in 1938 and the women were talking about how many carbs were in a meal that was on the table. Back then women had home economics because they were thought to be the ones that fed their families in the future. They understood about calories and fat, so they had proper portions and they had their kids run around outside and play all day. My daughter at age 23 is about 30 to 50 pounds lighter then the girls she knew in Jr. High, I made her play outside unless the weather was bad and she was never allowed to own a video game system. I kept junk food out of the house as well. Hard for a kid to get to a store to buy junk food when the nearest one is several miles away.

Voting has consequences–now we have 2 dumb monkeys screwing us instead of one.

I know of children who are lactose intolerant who the school forces milk on.

Btw, a Dr.’s note makes no difference, the “principal of color” said “doctors lie all the time”— of course, this is the same person who had a school wide assembly in October to tell the children how important a black-heartedskinned prezzy was and implied white people hated him.

My Granddaughter’s a teacher there. She’s “on warning” for allowing the poor kid to substitute soymilk, which she bought for him out of her own pocket.

She’s a “person of color” and loves to mock that phrase— she always asks if there are “‘persons uncolored” or “persons of transparency”!

When she was given the warning she got a lecture with it about “siding with the crackers and haters”.

When she pretended not to understand, she was told that siding with “them !%#$&!$ hating white devils” over Der Dingleberry &The First Appetite would make it difficult to dismiss any “problems” that might develop in the future.

She was told it called my Granddaughter’s intelligence and competency as a teacher into question.

The superintendent reminded my Granddaughter of the incident w/her car. My Granddaughter had put pro-conservative bumperstickers on her car.

    About that incident:
The parking lot patrol said that the subsequent vandalism was committed by “some students”, but they “just weren’t” able to catch them.

She noted to me that her excellent sound system was untouched, the $100.00 cash in emergency money was still in bright red envelope in the glovebox. Her 50 CD “driving music” case and her Quad were still on the passenger seat.

In fact, nothing was stolen– but “oreo”, and other nice things were carved into the paint– all the windows smashed out and the windshield stove-in. The interior was slashed and the entire inside smelled strongly of urine.

The damage was extensive: it obviously took a long time to vandalize the vehicle.

When she went to file the report the principal called her in. After the principal spoke in generalities concerning “provocative signals and behavior”, the principal went on saying that it was in my Granddaughter’s “own interest in herself” to just forget it. She was also told she needed to “get her mind right and be a team player”.

My Granddaughter didn’t really appreciate the reminder about her car, nor the sudden questioning of her competence as a teacher when she always had only the highest ratings when evaluated. But enough background.

The child’s parents are v.scared b/c the principal’s threatened dire consequences if they rock the boat.

The superintendent said it would do them “a favor, for the kid’s sake and forget to report that they (ie the parents) were trying to override the school’s judgement on what’s in the child’s best interest.

But if they persisted either by seeing a lawyer or removing the child – even for Home School – the principal, backed-up by the superintendent would “in the best interest of the child” be forced to report to State Child Protective Services “evidence and indications of child abuse”.

When the parents pointed out that they didn’t abuse any of their children, the superintendent laughed and said that it would “take years to determine that, if there ever is a determination!”

The superintendent went on to say that all manner of abuse usually comes to light in these “quiet cases”.

When asked what was meant by “quiet cases” the superintendent observed that social workers often find that “overly religious families are hiding sexual abuse” and later asked if there are firearms in the home.

During any investigation, the children would be removed from the “dangerous environment” for the duration— for the sake of the children.

I can understand why the parents are cowed. I’m angry that these bureaucratic ticks are unaccountable. The First Tick is a great office to pass things through you don’t want to have input on.

That is truly scary. God Bless you and your family.

Yikes. You need to contact someone with a bigger microphone and get this story out. It sounds like this whole school system needs to be shut down.

You should check out all the youtube videos, made by students, complaining about the lunch changes. Here’s just one made by some students from a school by me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyLWubu-Z7E

well with the size of her ass she is the one who should be watching what she eats…but as always out of DC it is do as we say not as we do….

  • Noreen

you an bet the Obama kids are eating well in their private school ! my grandson is hungry,, he’s 16 and playes sports.. growing boy … !

  • Seewetoldu

We had decent lunches and competent intelligent teachers who would not tolerate anything but hard work. And consequences for those who didn’t respect that. And great childhood memories of the public schools .

  • TWG2A

Here in Montana, our schools are fighting with these new lunch programs. Our kids here work on farms, are athletes and country folk. They eat meat and they have HEALTHY appetites. They need more food, yet obama has commanded that they get only FOUR tater tots, and NOT FIVE tater tots. The school cooks are now trying to wrestle more money from the communisy just to be able to give more food to our children. It’s a friggen joke. I’m tempted to start a kitchen for kids on their way to school to stop in and grab an extra lunch bag, full of good food to keep our kids healthy. If obama has their way, our kids would all be scrawny midgets. As it is, they’re drugging our children up, which will keep them out of the military services, and promoting irresponsible behavior in the so-called “schools”. If I were a parent, I’d tell those “schools” where to shove their communist ideologies. “Teach them to eat less” bullshit.

    smart kids

  • Lin Jarvis

They can still serve those greasy, salt laden Tater Tots. They just can’serve enough to satisfy the kid’s hunger. Where are the vegetables? Where is the whole grain. She knows less about nutrition than I know about the dark side of the moon.

  • Lin Jarvis

It’s not enough that they are trying to indoctrinate the kids by revising history and promoting promiscuity, now they are trying to starve them into submission.

  • okihadit

she probably wants us all to get use to eating way less, it’s probably in our furture anyways. sorry to say, well, no i’m not, but their girls look way too dam skinny, while michelle has a big fat as-.that pic of the food on that tray, looks disgusting.

  • BeeKaaay

    Marxists love to starve kids.

  • Semper Fi

“Give them smaller lunches,” says the woman with an ass the size of a drive-in movie screen.

  • Laura Thompson

Now is the time for parents to think seriously about homeschooling! It is happening more and more and these kids are getting great education leaning by doing, participating and experiencing the world while they learn. Though now past childhood rearing in my life, if I had it to do over again in the cultural and political climate of today’s teaching and revisionist history, I’d home school in a New York minute!

  • Troubleshooter

There is a substantial and significant difference between having an “Influence” on the lives of many people and having an “effect” on the lives of many people. When Michelle Obama knocks about 40 pounds of fat off of her own ass, then maybe I might be interested in her comments about things relating to what other people should eat.

  • lainer51

when is the last time SHE missed a meal??? I can only imagine what she is dining on in Hawaii (on my dime).

  • Richard Carpenter

Meanwhile, her and her crew chow down at $300 dinners of chicken and ribs. Typical Democats — do as I say, not as I do… you lowly peasants
