Mark Levin slams Ann Coulter over Romney, Reagan

Via Levin’s Facebook page:

Really Ann?  You mean Romney’s one debate bests Reagan’s decades of advocacy for conservatism, his battles with the Republican establishment, and his building a conservative movement? Fact is Romney has done nothing for conservatism. I repeat, nothing. No leadership.  No grassroots efforts. No major policy initiatives.  Nothing. Reagan won two landslides. Romney won nothing. Cherry-picking facts Ann, in some strange cult-like obsession, fools no one. Same with your cheerleading for Chris Christie.

Levin’s post was prompted by Coulter’s column, “Romney was not the problem.

Exit question: Could Ronald Reagan win the presidency if he were running today?

The “U.S. Citizens” graduating from our colleges, and pouring across our borders by the millions every year, not only do not UNDERSTAND the concept of America, they DO NOT CARE !! It’s way past time to get militant.

I’ll have Levin’s back any day and stand by his side as a true conservative. He knows what he talking about having worked for Reagan – you lose this one Ann.

  • riddler1620

I’m glad someone finally said if. Ann Coulters support for Romney and Christie borders on insane and reveals a person unable to admit their mistake.

    • Steve_J

Mostly gave up on her when she started gushing over Christie.

  • Bart Bartlett

Mark Levin is right. Ann Coulter blew this one. Chris Christie will never get the GOP nomination. Time to campaign as Conservatives and let the chips fall where they may. Romney would have been good for America but he couldn’t sell his message over the Obama and lame stream media lies and damn lies. There are more citizens willing to work for theirs and tired of supporting the non-producers.

    • plower

That is why Mark is one of our most trusted. He absolutely is totally honest in telling it like it is .He is our Jimmy Cagney, standing on the roof, screaming at the feds. He is relentless. It is not only his uprising against Coulter, I support him fully in his war against the spineless jellyfish and ruinous Bohner.

Newt is his own worst enemy, and if he was so fantastic, why did he not win the primaries? I like Newt in some ways, but no way is he POTUS material (but then, neither is Obama).

        • FranklinWasRight

I agree with you, except that Newt won the primaries because the establishment managed to panic true conservatives into thinking noone could win but Romney. I don’t think that is true.

okay mitt is not reagan, but he would have been a great leader
what is mark levins problem with mitt anyway

    • mxkied

That’s easy to answer. Mitt Romney changed positions on issues and installed an Obamacare type law in his own state and then claims to be conservative. That’s what is wrong with Mitt.

      • http://twitter.com/girlpolitical Nadifa Ahmed

you guys are the reason obama won
and by the way reagen changed positions on issues too and he was dem too

        • Hiraghm

Not when he switched parties; he rejected Democrat ideology. Romney hasn’t.

Name the issues Reagan changed positions on during his political career, ONCE HE BECAME REPUBLICAN.

          • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

Abortion — enacted very pro-abortion laws as the REPUBLICAN governor of CA. He also enacted (by his own initiative & which passed in the CA state legislature with bipartisan support) massive increases in individual and corporate income taxes and many other taxes as well, but changed his mind on fiscal policy when he ran for POTUS (i.e., “Reagannomics”).
Ha, ha– you’re a typical pretend conservative who idolizes Reagan but doesn’t know a thing about him. The FACT is during his time as the Republican governor of CA there were whiny prima donnas JUST LIKE YOU who groused that Reagan compromised too much & wasn’t a “conservative.”
Google it & educate yourself so you can stop embarrassing yourself (but you won’t — I’ve got a feeling just like the progs who support Obama, you like to wallow in your ignorance)

          • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

Ha, ha! I cannot express how much I LOVE the negative rating my post ^^ got for stating FACTS about Reagan’s record as Governor of CA that the Reagan worshipers CANNOT FACE!! They are just like the Obots — pointing out a fact about their guy’s record that they don’t like means you’re just being a “hater.” BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

        • wwbdinct

Who’s “you guys”? What does that mean? Sounds like a racist comment to me.

    • mxkied

By the way, tell me what Mitt has done for the conservative movement??

      • http://twitter.com/girlpolitical Nadifa Ahmed

hope you enjoy 4 years of obama
by the way If you can’t understand the difference between state law passed with 80%+ Dem legislature v. a 2700 page FEDERAL law passed by a bare majority you are as stupid as any Obama supporter out there

        • Hiraghm

If you think that the real problem with the individual mandate is that it’s a State’s Rights issue, you’re even more stupid than Romney.

          • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

Oh look — another tyrant masquerading as a “conservative” — the state’s rights issue is that a State can enact whatever it wants — be it a mandate or anything else — especially when it is done with *more* than a veto-proof majority in it’s legislature, as was the case in the MA health care law (since you seem to be slow understanding: that means not merely a majority, but a vast majority — in fact, almost unanimously — of the people in that state wanted it).
YOU, however, don’t get to impose your will on that state.
Stop trying to pretend you respect the Constitution or understand the 10th Amendment — you don’t.

          • serfer62

So they left it to the politicans & not a state vote

          • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

You actually are an idiot if you don’t understand the basic concept that you — as one individual person — have more control over your local/state government than you do over the Feds & how much easier it is to implement laws and makes changes once implementation takes place locally as opposed to nationally.

In fact, you deserve what’s coming as much as those who actually pulled the lever for Obama.

          • TheOriginalDonald

Clearly you don’t live in Connecticut, a state so blue it’s violet.

Now go man a Jeb Bush 2016 booth.

          • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

Thanks for proving what an idiot you are as that response makes NO sense — NONE — in the context of the 10th amendment, unless you are trying to say the MAJORITY of people in CT are NOT liberal Dems & yet liberal Dem policies are enacted anyway.
If you can’t keep up with the conversation, keep your 2 cents to yourself. Moron.

        • TheOriginalDonald

If the Mass legislature overrode the veto at least then Willard could have said I think it was a millstone on The Bay State economy then and I think it WILL be a millstone of the American economy NOW.

Instead he signed it into law, ergo the biggest weapon we had on Obama stayed on the shelf.

          • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

Shows exactly how much you know — Romney vetoed many parts of Obamcare — but when something passes with a veto-proof majority there is only so much you can do. You can’t accept that because you are a moron living in some kind of fantasy land. Furthermore, you are not a conservative because you want to impose your own beliefs on a state that you aren’t even a citizen of & don’t understand that a state– with an 80%+ Dem legislature — elected by citizens of that state — can decided for itself what it wants to do — it doesn’t need your permission.

    • Steve_J

I don’t think Mark is slamming Mitt. He is just calling out Ann because she is startinng to make a fool out of herself. Levin has not been a Romney guy since ’08. He was an ABM during the primaries. Romney, during these times of fiscal crisis would have been the right man at the right time. Better than Reagan on fiscal issues. Reagan, in his response to the Cold War, was also the right man for the right time. The sad thing is that we now leave in a nation where the morons outnumber the patriots – sad times.

  • scientifico

Ann Coulter is further proof that Conservatives are just ignorant suckers, exploited by media-savvy clowns.

  • http://twitter.com/Daisy761 Daisy76

Ann Coulter made a lot of good points in her defense of Romney. She is not the only one who is mentioning Reagan when talking about Romney. There is something about Romney that reminds people of Reagan, although the comparisons, deserved or not, can only go so far. After all one was a POTUS twice over and the other was just a wanna-be. Nitpicking her argument in the context of Reagan is really lame. She was making a case for Romney being the best candidate the party could have had, not that he is on par with Reagan.

    • http://twitter.com/sundooboy LeeMannyChristopher

I thought Ann Coulter said that we Republican pick Romney as it’s Presidential can
      didate, he will loose.

  • CombatDiver

I love the Great One and not a big fan of Coulter. She has nothing for Levin on any level.

  • VL123

Can’t stand Coulter. Complete RINO. Levin is a conservative. Anyone that kisses Christie’s ass like Coulter did should be kicked out of the party. So should Christie for kissing Obama’s ass. The battle is between Big govt RINOs and small govt libertarian conservatives.

    • asok14215

But why does the small govt libertarian conservatives have to carry the baggage of the social conservatives? Fiscally conservative, socially progressive…I voted for Gary Johnson and would have voted for Ron Paul.

      • FranklinWasRight

Because now you will have to carry the baggage of Barack Obama. Enjoy.
I lean more libertarian myself, and I have supported Ron Paul in the past, and Romney was not my choice either. But any vote against Romney was a vote for Obama. Voting for Johnson may not have been “wasting” your vote, I don’t think their is any such thing, but it definately was a vote for Obama, which is my definition of self destructive stupidity.

  • http://www.vatican.va/ Rulz

Are people even reading what Ann wrote? From what I saw, it was more of a comparison to show readers that Mitt Romney wasn’t as moderate as people labeled him.

    • http://twitter.com/TheAngieNC2 Angie (D)

THIS. It is obvious that people — including Levin – didn’t read Ann’s piece. She in NO WAY said Romney was “superior” to Reagan — she just pointed out the FACT that the Reagan who ran in 1980 is not the *same* Reagan that everyone remembers after his successful 2 terms as POTUS. Reagan *did* have some issues (mainly on abortion) that would FOR SURE be problems with many of the self-declared “true conservatives” today.

  • http://amandakmelson.wordpress.com/ GreenEyedGal

I disagree with Ann. I tried to comment on the article and tell her why, but for some reason DC won’t let me post.

Having said that, dear Michelle Malkin and the Twitchy staff, I’m SO tired of seeing you run her down. We conservatives are not all going to agree all the time, but I really wish you would quit with your criticisms of her. I like Mark Levin too, but isn’t it possible to disagree with Ann without publicly claiming “she’s embarrassing herself”? There has to be a way to speak to one another in ways that aren’t perceived as “slamming.”

    • Delroy_Monjo

Maybe Coulter should stop ’embarrassing herself’ then, ya’ think….maybe?

      • http://amandakmelson.wordpress.com/ GreenEyedGal

“Embarrassing herself” is pretty subjective, ya’ think….maybe? I disagree with Ann. She, like so many in the GOP today, seems to have absolutely no idea when it comes to why they lose. And they keep doing the same thing, expecting different results. But I do not understand why, instead of engaging on issues, people like Levin and Malkin attack instead. This is not the first time Twitchy has raced to publicly castigate Ann. Why? We’re all supposed to be on the same team here, are we not? On most issues, don’t she and Michelle agree: taxes, size of government, entitlements, abortion? And no one is right all the time, either. So let’s cut each other a little slack, shall we? It makes Michelle look petty. I’ve always thought she was a sharp, brilliant, tough as nails lady, but posts like these aren’t any of those things.

  • blueniner

Romney loses so Coulter goes into bash mode and codemns Ronald Reagan and the Tea Party and Jenni Beth Martin. The day after the election she got into with her twisted sister Laura Ingraham and bashed Reagan, Ingraham called her out on it.
Coulter loves liberal Repbulicans and RINOs i.e. Christy Cream. Coulter has been a sore loser, she needs to back to the friendly confines of her friend Bill Maher.

  • GaryTheBrave

I don’t like Levin. He’s egotistical and arrogant. He calls other talk radio hosts who are not his “friends” back-benchers. He has an ad hominem name for every group and individual who doesn’t look at the world the same way as he.

IMO, Levin, Coulter, Hannity, Ingraham and so many others have been stuck in NYC and DC for so long they forgot what makes one a Conservative. If NJ was a Midwestern state you would’ve never heard of Christie. But what about Governors Jan Brewer and Susannah Martinez? Would you not say either is more conservative than Romney or Christie? Yet you only hear about them under VERY SPECIAL circumstances. Martinez was introduced at the RNC and Brewer decided to enforce Federal immigration laws.

I challenge Ingraham or Hannity or Levin to move to the Midwest or West for a year and maybe get re-introduced to Conservatism that is not diluted or corroded by the I-95 corridor.

Prior to Romney our last two GOP candidates came from KS and AZ. The people in those states are proud of them but do not consider either to be conservative. They are both considered middle of the road. I’m not certain if Reagan was very close to Dole.

Enough of my ranting. I gotta go to work.

However, the Muslim Destroyer in Chief apparently is God’s hand of judgement because the nation has turned against Israel and become Sodom 2000. God help us.

One of the biggest problems that we Conservatives have is that the men and women who can articulate and debate for the cause are on the radio and rarely found in the political arena. I say, “RUN MARK !” I’d work night and day for that man, he could play his Patton music in the headquarters !

  • stevethird

No rocket science. I just see it as a numbers game; Had Repubs and Conservatives simply hit the switch for Romney than stayed home with sour grapes we could’ve postponed this pending nightmare. It doesn’t matter if you liked him or loved him. Just hitting that switch in the privacy of the booth for a simple decision could’ve helped changed this country’s wallets, ethics and morals back a new path. It’s apparent now that we’re never going to have the numbers to swing that again. Instead egos and political philosophical purity bull derailed reason and common sense. Never have I more resigned that Conservatives truly truly deserve the pit libs give them.

Would Reagan win today? I hate to break it to those waiting on Zombie Reagan to run before deigning to get off their butts & go to the polls, but the real Ronald Reagan is turning over in his grave at all this infighting on the right — and really, not even infighting, but actually going on TV to trash each other & air dirty laundry. Reagan was *always* highly critical of the 100% “purity” test — he said time & again, if you agree with a candidate 70%, you support him. And the fact is, as the Republican Governor of CA the self-name “conservatives” of the time were highly critical of Reagan for compromising too much with the majority Dem. CA legislature & enacting — through his own initiative but with bipartisan support — high state & corporate tax rates. And the self-named “conservatives” back then were a lot more polite than the whiny prima donnas we have today bashing everyone who doesn’t meet their 100% purity test & throwing temper tantrums by threatening to not show up to vote. In sum to the “true conservatives” re: Reagan admiration — you’re doing it wrong.

  • Teresa Davis McCormick

I like Coulter and I like Levin. No one knows more about political history than Coulter. So i tend to lean towards her a bit. So do I think Romney was better than Reagan? No I don’t. I grew in the 80s, we loved the man. I wanted Newt. Having lived in GA for a while, I saw what kind of leader he was. I thought Romney could have been a lot tougher. But as Coulter said he won the republican primaries and that’s who they put up to run. Of course I voted for him. I don’t think his own party should get on the air and bitch about him. He’s a good man. Quite frankly, I think the effed up media is responsible for Obama’s win. They were tough on Reagan, and even now they don’t want to give him credit for the good that he did. I heard one of the talking heads call that time in history the “decadent” 80s. But the media assault on the Romney’s was like nothing I have ever seen before. I’ve never seen such vile disgusting ads ran against any presidential candidate. So I don’t know if Reagan could have fought through that or not. We live in a different time.

Ann’s point was that all the Republicans except one, Romney, were for amnesty for the illegal invaders. Our U. S. Bolshevik government says there are “12 million”. Insiders who were involved with the Reagan amnesty said the bureaucrat storyline back then was there were “1 million” illegals, but actually the number of processed illegals was “over 3 million”. The U. S. Bolshevik government is concealing that the number will actually be “40 million” illegal invaders suddenly being given voting cards.
