Woman who posted photo of herself giving the finger to fallen heroes at Arlington fired

Lindsey Stone, the woman who posted to Facebook a tasteless photo of herself flipping off the fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery, has been fired by her employer, Living Independently Forever, along with the co-worker who took the photo.

The photo had existed quietly online for about a month before it drew nationwide attention and outrage, inspiring a “Fire Lindsey Stone” Facebook campaign and not a lot of sympathy.

At least SOME kind of justice was done. I hope the shame eats her alive.

    • nc

I suspect if she was capable of feeling shame she wouldn’t have done it in the first place.

Now, regret over her job loss, that’s a different story…

    • TocksNedlog

I hope she grows up and becomes a productive memeber of society.

She should start TODAY by volunteering at a Salvation Army soup kitchen.

    • Lady_Penguin

Ever since the Lefties (previously known as bleeding heart liberals) did away with the concept of “shame” in this country, it has been a steady moral decline. Until the concept of right and wrong, and taking responsibility for one’s own behavior makes it back into the public consciousness, we’ll continue to see this type of behavior. It’s all around us, mostly covered up by the malignant media though.

  • Lftcoaster

I love our Countries Freedom of Speech.

Lindsey Stone exercised her freedom of speech and in response, thousands exercised their freedom of speech. As a result, she will now suffer the consequence of disrespecting the Country’s Fallen Heroes.

  • vcferlita

Representation from Gloria Allred in 3,2,1…..

I don’t care about her being fired one way or the other. That’s her employer’s choice. What continues to piss me off about this fool is to say in her apology that

“We never meant any disrespect to any of the people nationwide who have
served this country and defended our freedom so valiantly,”

The picture CLEARLY shows that disrespect was the only message that was being sent. Own up to it. The people who gave the last full measure of devotion, who were laid to rest in that cemetery are not tarnished by your action.

YOU are the one who is less for it. You continue to demonstrate your lack of judgement and honor by telling us something that we can see is an obvious lie. Grow up and maybe you will one day be able to explain to your children why you thought this was a great idea.

It amazes me after Adam Smith got fired from a six figure job for his little trip to Chick-Fil-A that anyone would want to repeat similar behavior. Sorry lady guess you just found for every action there is indeed a consequence

  • Jack Deth

    D’OH!!!

In regards to Ms. Stone, I am reminded of a phrase my Trainer (Higher ranking NCO) often used when I made a mistake when repairing and working on a multi-million dollar aircraft’s engine(s) ages ago.

    “Now! Don’t you feel ignorant!”

Reinforcing my rock solid belief that shame works!

  • digitalPimple

Maybe Obama can nominate her for Secretary of State. Just a thought.

  • snowball

    Actions have consequences!

  • disqus_Uwifk500mc

This woman works with disabled vets. She owes each of them an apology.

  • Taxpayer1234

Her employer was right to fire her b/c apparently she was on this trip on the company dime. DUH!

    • Peyton

I would of fired her even if she wasn’t on a company trip. I hope they hire a veteran to replace her.

      • Purple State

If she weren’t on the company dime though, there’s no grounds to be fired. What she did isn’t illegal.

        • Guest

As an employer you have the right to fire anyone that might cause harm to your business. OBVIOUSLY what that dingbat did would’ve reflected negetively on her business.

          • http://www.facebook.com/brian.mouland.908 Brian Mouland

Ms Einstein might have got away with it but she posted her picture on facebook. As an employer do you really want anyone that retarded working for you

          • BEISEL’S_coldsore

Oh I dunno Mouley ……..The Regional board of sphincter stretchers has you as the rectum director of the month seven weeks running now. Your retarded forked tongue has obviously come in handy for something.

        • TocksNedlog

Did they pass some new, secret law that says you can only be fired for doing something illegal? Pretty sure that employers (at least those in right-to-work states) are allowed to fire you for doing something WRONG.

          • MikeDugas

Right to Work is being confused with Employment at Will. Right to Work ONLY deals with Unionization. In Right to Work States you can’t be forced to join or support a union. The two often get confused. Almost every state in the Union is an Employment at Will state where you can be fired for anything with few exceptions. Those exceptions being your race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or handicap status. Some states also have an Implied Contract exception. Other than those exceptions you can fired “at will” and the employee is free to quit, strike or otherwise not work “at will” .

        • http://twitter.com/Cabin49 David Wood

firing someone isnt illegal either…especially if they publicly tarnish the name and rep of their employer…happy turkey :)

        • wwbdinct

But she was on the company dime. Too bad for you.

        • MikeDugas

Doesn’t matter. If her FB page states where she works and her actions caused problems at work as the outcry did they can fire her. This is NOT the same as Right to Work which it often gets confused with. Right to Work only deals with Unionization. In Right to Work states you cannot be forced or required to join or support a union. You can join freely if you want but in most states with out forced Unionization Unions don’t do well.

        • Lady_Penguin

Maybe not illegal, but amoral, something you obviously have no problem with. But for your mean little way of thinking, the employer actually was at legal risk once this came to light because of the type of job they had, caring for impaired individuals. They could not be trusted. Employers don’t hire people they can’t trust.

You must have been an Obama voter too, since you support classless, crass, and vulgar individuals who care nothing for others, even to the point of anti-American values and traditions. Yep, vphilly explained the deductive reasoning perfectly, we’ve been surrounded by people like them and you for more years than the country can cope with.

Gotta agree. 1st Amendment & all, remember? What she does on her own time is her business. Good ol’ common sense says don’t do stupid things even if you think no one’s looking, even if not illegal. If she hadn’t posted on a public FB page, & also posted where & when the pic was taken she’d still have a job…but still be a private douche for doing it in a totally inapropriate place & while on Company business. Once the word got out it’s a reflection on their business.

So YES What she did WAS illegal

      • lainer51

or to beat the crap out of her

  • Peyton

I’m gonna guess that she voted for O.

    • Purple State

      Proof?

      • Peyton

Just a guess based on behavior.

        • Purple State

          So none. Got it.

          • vphilly

What Peyton is trying to say is that liberals, who generally voted for Obama, are crass, classless, unscrupulous, tasteless, disrespectful cretins, as is the woman in the photo. Since she is also a crass, classless, unscrupulous, tasteless, disrespectful cretin, it’s a safe bet that she voted for Obama. Simple deductive reasoning, but perhaps a little too complicated for you to grasp.

          • wwbdinct

            Bingo!

          • Purple State

Not deductive reasoning — baseless stereotyping.

          • Grandma HeadInjury

Hey kids, just for fun, let’s click on Purps’ name and see how many examples of baseless stereotyping we can find….

and I would say she’s probably a nutjob right wing tea partier or one of those Westwood Babtist Church types of picket the funerals of our military spewing file remarks and holing disgusting signs.

He said he was going to guess. He didn’t say it definitively. Why are you so defensive?

  • Peyton

The company should hire two veterans to replace her.

    • Vennoye

Company said they had veterans on their board of directors.

  • George Washington Mclintock

Sound business. If you can’t respect the nation’s honored dead, how can you be counted on to respect paying customer?

  • Darrell G. Walton

Cool and fool sound awfully much the same. Bet she isn’t so cool now!

  • scalzo

The woman is a class A idiot.

  • Lady_Penguin

When all else fails to stop these degenerates, the “court of public opinion” can get the job done. In fact, in the old days, that’s the way it was done. The community acted with a social conscience, something disappearing today with the amoral, leftist anything goes mentality being pushed to the culture at-large.

At least in this case, appropriate (not false or feigned), public outrage won. The wonders of technology…oh, and every time they look for a new job, a google search is going to show what kind of prospective employee they’re going to be.

  • Steve_J

    Ha-Haw

  • Jim Denney

Check back with the two douchebags in 99 weeks. Their unemployment “entitlement” will be ending and they’ll be forced to start looking for a job. That assumes A); the Dims haven’t extended UI to lifetime status, and B); these two haven’t dropped a kid just to go on welfare for life.

  • scubaski00

I’m wondering if she’s planning on “living independently forever” on the government roles since her attention whore stunt has basically ensured her a long career of unemployment. Serves her right!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/brian.mouland.908 Brian Mouland

Why do facebook and twitter attract so many effing idiots

  • Alex Pelton

The company fired her because of the amount of attention this was getting, not because she did an idiot thing. Look, I’m an Iraq vet and clearly what she did was idiotic and a mistake. If I were railroaded for every mistake I made, I’d been in a mental hospital. I think she should just SINCERELY apologize and let the matter go. Just my two sense. And for idiots that say I’m a retarded liberal, nothing could be further from the truth, can’t stand Obozo and I will throw a party when he’s gone. I’m just someone who believes in freedom of speech.

Yeah, I agree. She did a dumb thing. Don’t we all do stupid stuff when we’re young?

On the other hand, the company was tarnished and I would have fired her, too. Stupid things still have consequences. Hopefully she’ll learn from it.
