Irony: Obama urges Burma to adopt system where law is stronger than any leader

Oh, yes, he did. President Obama said that in Burma yesterday. He also said this.

Stop! Our knees hurt from slapping them in fits of giggles! Could he possibly have said that with a straight face? Hey, Obama isn’t just a leader, though. He’s a Sun-God, what with being the “light and the future” and all. Totally different. Putting law above leaders is just for pesky mortals and stuff.

Maybe you need to run roughshod over the law, to find out what’s in the law?

Twitter users call him out on this “practice what you preach” irony, and rightfully so.

  • Lord Foggybottom

Who is he kidding? He’ll only support Burma if they announce their hatred for the United States and then blow up a bunch of Jews.

  • b_truit

    Not irony. Think of it
how Obama does. Make the law so liberal and anti-constitution that no conservative leader will be able to change it. Therefore law is stronger than any leader other than him. He’s not inept, just dangerous to our liberty.

    • world’s greatest orator

His general strategy has been to make the law subservient to the ruling party, a cudgel for the purpose of “giving him more flexibility.” Remember when with much fanfare he signed that Executive Order to cease the operation of CIA black sites? The “not-while-I’m-President-and/or-inapplicable-to-Libya” clause was implied there

  • MoxieLouise

Wait, what? Who said this? Obama? USA Obama? The Obama who sends people to jail for making videos? Are you sure???

  • Maria

    He’s such a damn hypocrite.

  • world’s greatest orator

They just smile & politely nod their heads while this lightweight prances in with the canned spiel. If he had any balls he’d try that speech during a visit to Zimbabwe

  • RightStuff

he more I see this Barack Obama, I’m certain his a little light in the loafers.

    • TugboatPhil

      Larry Sinclair concurs.

    • Burt Zerker

Light??? His loafers are made of helium

  • BeeKaaay

” law is stronger than any leader.”

    We need this here.

  • moonsbreath

Who knew Obama is a closet comedian?

    • TugboatPhil

Not surprising since he’s in the closet on that “other thing.”

  • orringtonmom (D)

just because he said doesn’t necessarily mean that he means it…

    • yahneverknow

No one can argue with that statement. :)
      Well, except maybe the Prez.

“I mean what I say.” -bo

He’s faced criticism for four years, no matter what he does (or doesn’t do). He’s got thick skin, and, oh yes, one other thing…….he won again!!!

    • TugboatPhil

Yes, he won again, but thick skin he ain’t got. He’s a pansy that has never had to endure criticism from the throne-sniffing, rump swabs in the press corpse.

    • Garth Haycock

Thick skin? Are you serious or stupid?

How about advising Burma to accept that the will of the people is stronger than the leaders and the law, and that leaders should always recognize that they are the public servants of the people?

Our executive branch is responsible for enforcing the laws. Unfortunately, sometime in recent history, the executive branch decided that not enforcing the laws it doesn’t like is also a form of enforcing the law. Perhaps Barry thinks this doesn’t make him above the law but more beside the law. It’s still wrong.

  • Phelony Jones

Man, such hypocrisy. Didn’t this a-hole say in 2011 he couldn’t just waive his hand and change immigration? Then, in 2012, waive his hand and change immigration when he needed a few more illegal votes?

  • $30423294

He has to be careful because when he engages in this charade, he unintentionally reveals the deceptive aspects of his twisted little governing philosophy.

Like when he says, in America, “all people are equal under the law.” How precious, Mr. president!

This is manifestly not true in America. This foolish nation has been mal-educated for about a hundred years to SUBVERT this principle. We FAVOR race, gender, etc. based on whomever happens to be in charge. The goodies (and the punishments!) of government are precisely targeted by race, class, gender, etc.

I believe we will realize too late that we have our own little Rawanda situation in the works here. Who are the hutus? Who are the tootsies? It doesn’t really matter. We know for certain that the race hustlers and the tenured marxists have been salivating for this moment in history.

Well then, back to Dancing with the Stars, I guess?

  • TugboatPhil

Pres #Obama: To protect the freedom of all voters, those in power must accept constraints… Everyone in America is “equal under the law.”

And under Obama’s Department of Justice, some are more equal than others.

  • Burt Zerker

If 0bama said this in Burma,…..he must have had a really really good time in Thailand.

Romney’s first foreign travels would have been a tour of his off shore accounts.

You GOP/Bagger critics always say the President is either too soon or too late on every thing he does or you say he is wrong in what he does. You need to wake up to the real world and get off of your total negativity about our duly reelcted president

    • Back 4 More

Romey? Still? Well, I guess we’ve already figured out who the cult members are going to blame for Obama’s failures for the next 4 years. I guess you people got so tired of blaming Bush that now you’re gonna switch to a guy that had the gall to run against the messiah. Don’t know if you heard the news, Obama is the president, not Romney. Maddow, is that you?

    • Zane Henry

and the reason the media didn’t press the offshore accounts issue? Kerry, Pelosi and the rest told them to stfu before it blew back on them.

    • Garth Haycock

To hell with Obama and to hell with his bleating supporters. It is our right as American citizens to criticize him. Remember how you dumbasses attacked Bush? Yeah, it works both ways.

  • People Corporation

And then he and the Burma dictator looked at each other and broke out laughing.

  • Clearhead

If they ever adopt a policy where law is above leaders, obama will never, never, NEVER EVER return to Burma.

  • Back 4 More

Wow, the hypocrisy is strong with this one. I wonder if his trip will have a happy ending.

  • mhojai

    What a pompous, disingenuous ASS!

  • dwsmokin

Wow! Maybe someday we will do the same thing.
