No, Twitter did not suspend the official IDF Twitter account

Some Twitter users are celebrating the supposed suspension of the Israel Defense Forces’ Twitter account this morning.

And “real journalists” are helping the rumor along.

One problem there, guys: The IDF’s official account is @IDFSpokesperson, not @IDFSpokesman. The IDF was not sent to Twitter Gulag.

HuffPo’s Ethan Klapper quickly corrected his error, as did BuzzFeed’s Zeke Miller.

And the IDF continues to tweet:

But unfortunately, the false rumor persists, especially among those who would love to see the IDF silenced:

Didn’t hear POTUS say anything in reference to current Israel situation

You won’t either, unless it’s for publicity. He sides with Hamas like a good little Islam.

    • lalavz

It’s still being investigated and he can’t comment on it. (joke)

    • TugboatPhil

He’s hoping “his side” will make a comeback against the Israelis.

Those people above ought to be ashamed of themselves. Israel is only trying to defend itself and its land! You know, I noticed they don’t think the Hamas Twitter account should be silenced. I guess we know where most Liberals stand. They stand with Hamas/Palestine. Well of course they do, because Obama does.

Would be nice if @twitter could suspend the AlQassam Brigades twitter account
