Lib boycott fail redux: Citizens stand with targeted Papa John’s, plan National Appreciation Day

Did the Left learn nothing from the attempted pathetic boycott of Chick-fil-A? Apparently not, since the party of “no bullying” is now trying to bully Papa John’s for the crime of trying to remain in business. Oh, the horror!

As Twitchy reported, they called for a boycott when Papa John’s joined the growing chorus of businesses that are responding to the crushing effects of Obamacare by mulling cutting workers’ hours. Applebee’s was also targeted, after a franchisee contemplated a hiring freeze. In the deluded and wilfully ignorant minds of liberals, this calls for boycotting the business to try to make it go totally under. That’s helpful!

Papa John’s was also attacked as racist, natch. Race-baiting is always the go-to response by the Left. Thankfully, many are no longer falling for it. The boycott? They are doing it wrong. Again.

Huh. People still seem to be eating delicious Papa John’s! And, like after the pitiful Chick-fil-A boycott attempt, citizens are rallying around Papa John’s with plans for a National Appreciation Day.

Don’t forget to take pictures, all! We are still grinning widely at the memory of these amazing photos from Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day!

This Twitter user has a fabulous idea.

Yep. They still don’t understand that elections have consequences. Do they plan to boycott everyone? Based on the growing number of businesses, large and small, that are being forced to lay off workers, cut their hours or institute hiring freezes, they’d have to.

Of course, they can’t boycott these small businesses: They, sadly, are closing up shop. Elections, they have tragic consequences.

We stand with Papa John’s and every business that is struggling in the wake of Obama’s business-crushing policies. National Appreciation Day? Heck, yes. Y’all built that.

So the following day there will the Kiss-In Day correct?

    • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

I’ll eat Papa Johns the day before and that day as well, then bring my Hubby to the Kiss-In. Food and making out! Yeah!

  • conservativechick

If we do this then they will be able to retain employees! Good plan. :)

    • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

That is sadly funny how the Liberal idiots misunderstand the easiest logic and although they want people to have jobs, they would boycott a company doing a hiring freeze (because they can’t afford to hire) and make MORE people lose jobs. That makes no sense. Thank goodness for us Right Wingers who see the logic and will help the companies out.

Excuse you, but small businesses AREN’T made of money and can’t afford to hire. My Husband can’t afford to hire. How insulting you are about something you don’t know about. You assume money just falls out of the sky each month when you get your check, but it doesn’t.

Group health care is CHEAPER than Obamacare and that is what Employers DO pay for.

My wife turned 40 today and just a week ago we had our second child (a daughter). When I asked my wife what she wanted for dinner this evening to celebrate, she wasted no time in saying “Papa John’s pizza!” So we’re going to get at least one large pizza and possibly some sides to go with that.

Love their stuff! My wife wants to thank the hysterical libs for providing her with the inspiration for tonight’s meal.

    • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

Congratulations on your second child and Happy Birthday to your wife!

Omg! PJ is going to fire people because of “racism”, so let’s boycott them so they have less money to pay their employees and fire more of them. #LiberalLogic404

Exactly my thought when I heard the same on Applebees. Liberals are just too stupid. Similar to their legislation, they give no thought to the actual effects.

“stupid”, you are too kind… it is BEYOND stupid!

  • Liberal Hater

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m glad when libs boycott places. I know when I go there the smell of shit won’t permeate the air. Papa John’s for dinner tonight, indeed!

Boycotts are dumb. I just choose not to spend my money at places like Papa Johns and Applebees, because their food is horrible.

  • Eric Boyer

So Papa John can afford to give away TWO MILLION pizza’s but can’t figure out how to insure his employees? Right. There are lots of places to get some decent pizza.

    • Todd Hill

Eric, there are indeed a lot of places to get merely decent pizza. But if you want to have great pizza instead, you should go to Papa John’s (in my opinion, of course).

    • Turning Leaves

One is a onetime expense that comes out of the promotions budget (and is offset by encouraging more purchases) and one is ongoing expense that increases the personnel budget with no offset. Slight difference.

      • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

Also sometimes they get people to donate money to help with promotions. Talking about budgets confuses Liberals, though, you know. See Obama and the Senate for more.

        • Danny Meeker

You have to realize — Democrats are the ones that haven’t passed a budget in three years, and they think the world runs on unicorn farts. Don’t use those pesky things like….oh, I dunno….facts, common sense, basic math, business sense, or good judgment…..THEY GET IN THE WAY OF THE POSITIVE VIBES, MAN…..

          • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

Haha! Unicorn farts. Love it. And you’re right, man.

    • Gallatin

And I’m sure you will have no problem bellying up for one of those free pizzas.

    • lainer51

He doesn’t HAVE to insure his employees or anyone else… it is HIS business, remember? Oh wait, that’s right, he didn’t build that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • NRPax

Insuring his employees to the degree required by the law will run up expenses to the point that the product they make has to be more expensive. You see, businesses won’t look at this situation and say “Hey, we should just operate in the red for the greater good.” They are going to look at ways they can save money or pass the cost along to the customer.

Or to put it in more simple terms for you: Magical money unicorns aren’t going to swoop in and pay business owners back for the money they now have to spend on health care. And yes; there are other places to get decent pizza. Feel free to take your money there.

  • http://pinterest.com/j0s1395/ Josephine (D)

Hopefully Mom and I will be able to take part on Friday; we have a newspaper route which can be quite a handful. But there’s a Papa John’s on the way to where we pick up our papers, and we pick them up in the morning, so we should be able to do it if we get there early enough.

  • RightThinking1

There is a subtext here. The left’s first instinct, is to shout down opposition, or use strongarm techniques if possible. All in a good cause, you know. Ends justify the means, etc.
When neither of those will do the job, they try the boycott ploy. While it might work where an isolated victim is concerned, it never works on a nationwide basis, because most folk are not really steered by political persuasion. Thus, the majority will not care what Pappa does, so long as the pizza is good, and the price is right. Lefty’s can’t grasp that.
On the other hand, I’m thinking that Penneys may well have suffered for their pro-homosexual agenda, conservatives being sufficiently offended as to avoid the place.

    • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

And with us it wasn’t a boycott, it was just a “I don’t really wish to spend my money here” kind of thing.

      • Maria Seeger

And that’s perfectly fine. Nobody should try to force anybody to do anything that they don’t want to do. (What I try to tell my kids when they try to make my grandson eat mashed potatoes, which he hates with a passion). I sure don’t hold it against you. I enjoy a good Papa John’s pizza myself, but I can’t afford to buy one now, so I stand with them in spirit.

        • lainer51

I doubt if you understand much

    • Maria Seeger

Yeah, especially since ObamaCare guts Medicare by about 384 trillion dollars in the coming years while only reducing the deficit by a mere 4 trillion. (got that off Forbes who got it from the CBO sometime back).

Okay, so you accused the Republicans of trying to cut off Medicare and throwing Grandma off the cliff, but it seems to me that cutting Medicare to the tune of almost $4 trillion is a pretty steep price to pay to keep ObamaCare going.

      • salvagesalvage

Ah, wingnut facts! They’re like real facts only not actually true. I also think it’s so adorable the way wingnuts howl about the deficit that they cheered on when Bush was in power. I guess it’s better to spend billions on blowing up Muslims rather than taking care of sick Americans.

        • lainer51

how predictable… I knew it was just a matter of time before Bush’s name came into it….. always does.

          • salvagesalvage

How even more predictable! So that would be yes, you did cheer the rampant government spending under Bush and now despise it because Obama is President?

Gee, goofy speaker with goofy music and goofy graphics, real helpful: “What happened to the imaginary $6 trillion surplus projection which nobody in their right mind believed in?”

            Facts:
$ 5,727,776,738,304.64 (debt when GW Bush took office)
$10,626,877,048,913.00 (debt when B Obama took office)
            $16,248,293,041,003.50 (debt as of 11/13/2012)

            Bush Debt increase: $4,899,100,310,608.36
            Obama Debt increase: $5,621,415,992,090.50

$5.6t is greater than $4.9t. Obama increased the Federal Debt more in four years than Bush did in eight.

Simple arithmetic is delusional to you. I guess we’ll need to start a Department of Teaching to go along President Obama’s Department of Business to help you out.

          • salvagesalvage

Yes, the deficit and budget’s cause and effect are “simple arithmetic” and that’s why it’s all Obama fault because there wasn’t a President before him who cut taxes for the rich and started an expensive pointless war to pay for it.

And by pay for it I mean dig the hole deeper.

It’s so weird that you hate the Democrats for doing the thing that you scream at them for not doing.

          • Turning Leaves

Um, we’re talking about the increase in the Federal Debt during two administrations. You don’t want to admit that the increase has been greater under Obama’s <4 years than it was in Bush's 8 years (when we had those "evil" tax cuts in place and during the most expensive periods of both wars). Why can't you handle simple arithmetic?

          • salvagesalvage

Wow, you really don’t understand stuff do you? Okay, it’s like this, Bush is driving the car, he steps on the gas and points it towards the edge of a cliff just before it’s about to go over the edge he jumps out and Obama takes over the wheel, it goes over the cliff and you lot are looking at the wreck screaming that it’s all Obama’s fault!

You understand that policies take time to have an impact right?

        • Turning Leaves

Gee, and here I remember Republicans calling into Michael Medved’s talk show in GW Bush’s first term complaining about the deficit. Granted, Michael would defend it on % of GDP grounds, but many listeners weren’t having it. But, even in Michael’s case you think that not complaining about $300-600 billion deficits means he should be happy about $1.2-1.6 trillion deficits? Makes no sense.

          • salvagesalvage

Gee I don’t remember that at all, certainly not from all those screaming about it now.

But answer me this, how has this deficit hurt your income or affected your life in any way? You do understand a national economy being in debt is nothing like a person or a household being in debt right?

          • Turning Leaves

Well, I can’t help other folks’ memory problems. The fact is there was an undercurrent of dissatisfaction with Bush’s spending on the right going back to 2001. The fear was that if you can’t get real paydown on the debt going when Democrats didn’t control the WH or either branch of Congress when can you? The answer we discovered is, you can’t. For the record, the debt grew even in Clinton’s last year in office when there was ostensibly a budget surplus. Sad, but true. There hasn’t been a fiscal year for the US government where the debt has decreased since the 1950’s.

Why don’t you ask the folks in Greece how their national debt is impacting their lives. It’s stupid to wait until things get to that level to begin doing something about it. One should address problems like that before they get too big to handle.

          • salvagesalvage

            >undercurrent of dissatisfaction with Bush’s spending on the right going back to 2001

Oooh an undercurrent! Wow! I guess that’s why Rush and Fox never said a word.

Yeah, part of the problem in Greece is that the rich stopped paying taxes to their horrifically corrupt government who crafted all kinds of loopholes to make it legal.

So yes, it could happen in America but fortunately Romney lost.

          • Turning Leaves

“Rush and Fox” are your sources for the truth? Interesting.

And what level of taxation on the rich do you suppose will close a approximately $1,200,000,000,000 deficit given that IRS gross collections from all individual income taxes in 2011 were $1,331,160,469,000?

          • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

Addressing problems..hmm..so that is why Obama is calling for the debt ceiling to be raised again..interesting.. Too bad Romney didn’t win. At least he knows that you can’t spend the same money twice and can do math over a 7th grade level. Something Obama hasn’t figured out yet and can’t do, by his own admission. lol

By “get(ting) Americans health care” you mean tearing down the Taj Mahal that is the greatest health care system in the world and replacing it with a parking lot? You sheep always want to divide up the pie rather than making more pies. Ok serious question, no sarcasm… you honestly think you and everyone else will NOW have health care? You either 1. ignored your history lessons on totalitarian regimes (they are all the same), 2. were taught their methods by their former arbiters, 3. Really think 320 million people will be taken care of, by LESS doctors, and with equal the quality of today. Conservative criticism of liberalism holds true once again, then ends don’t need to justify the means to satisfy a liberal just that the ends were achieved. Everyone has healthcare, my work here is done, I’m the greatest president ever *cheers.* Surely you know how insurance rates work right? Surely you what rationing is? Surely you know death panels WILL be utilized? Surely you know pre-existing conditions WILL be a major factor? Surely you know millions of people will have to die before ANY socialist utopia can be achieved? After lying about how much it would cost, and lying about “you get to keep your plan” what makes you think he has any obligation to tell the truth about Obamacare going forward (lol). Does America really have to be completely destroyed (as with every other totalitarian regime) in order to prove one side was right (and executed) and the other side was wrong (and enslaved)? By favoring evil in the hopes of currying their favor you make one the oldest mistakes in human history, evil has no obligations to anyone but itself. Do you think Satan would divide his kingdom with you? Would man?

      • salvagesalvage

        > Taj Mahal that is the greatest health care system in the world

Yes, it is like the Taj Mahal; a palace that only the very rich can fully enjoy.

See, that’s the problem, it’s not that America’s health care is lacking it’s that too many Americans can’t afford it so they get sick and die.

I know, I know, it’s their fault for being poor and sick and they should be left on the street to die because freedom but still.

In a separate piece, Fox News reported that Papa John’s John Schnatter has threatened his workforce with reduced hours as a result of the president’s health care reform law. The CEO of the country’s third largest takeout and delivery pizza chain — and a vocal Romney booster — said his franchise owners will likely be unable to afford to insure their employees.

However, according to Politico, Schnatter vowed instead to pass those costs onto customers — to the tune of $.11 to $.14 cents per pizza.

“We’re not supportive of Obamacare, like most businesses in our industry, Schnatter said. “But our business model and unit economics are about as ideal as you can get for a food company to absorb Obamacare.”

It used to be that when a business in a community was facing hardships, the community would come together to support the business & help it make it through. But now people want to boycott certain businesses because they are having to make tough decisions due to hardships, or worse because someone said they might have to do that because they are facing hardships, to punish them?

    This makes no sense!

liberals are supposedly standing with the employees of papa johns by boycotting papa johns, conservatives are standing with Papa johns by buying more of their pizza so that they might not have to take austerity measures. Read that several times… let it sink in… get all moisturized and what not. Where is that liberal logic meme? MUST… MAKE… THIS… A… MEME.

Leftwingwackos are now boycotting a PIZZA joint? This will be a fun BUY-COTT to do :)
