Poor Chuck. After working his tail off over the last four-plus years to shield Obama from any scrutiny, the media lapdog lamented that this was the closest he could get to the Anointed One during this afternoon’s fiscal cliff statement:
Needless to say, conservatives had no sympathy for him:
@chucktodd Aww… and the press is Obama's biggest supporters too!—
(@Rschrim) November 09, 2012
@ChuckTodd Why are you surprised Obama has contempt for the press? You've certainly earned it.—

@ChuckTodd Want to ask Obama a question? Get the morning zoo crew slot on Q101 Cedar Rapids. #PimpWithaLimp—
David Burge (@iowahawkblog) November 09, 2012
If @chucktodd wants to ask Obama questions maybe he should change his name to "Chuck With a Limp"—

Its a shame guys like @chucktodd invested so much into getting Obama elected and is immediately snubbed. #HesNotThatIntoYou—
(@Rschrim) November 09, 2012
@chucktodd I'm sure you would have had some real tough ones for him. #liberal—
Mike X (@CZKane) November 09, 2012
Aww. @ChuckTodd butthurt that press can't ask Obama questions today they should've asked 2 months ago twitter.com/chucktodd/stat…—
David Burge (@iowahawkblog) November 09, 2012
Or even 4 years ago. MT @iowahawkblog Aww. @ChuckTodd butthurt that press can't ask Obama questions today they should've asked 2 months ago—

@whpresscorps @iowahawkblog @chucktodd Why would Chuck want to ask him a difficult question – he hasn't done it in the past 4 years.—
Joseph McClure (@joemcclure2) November 09, 2012
@chucktodd If only you'd asked those q's 2 months ago. Oh right, you were busy working on his reelection.—
Charles Flaherty (@BuckleyFlaherty) November 09, 2012
@chucktodd Well, that works out well for the non-reporting you do anyway.
Is this a glamour complaint?—
Typewriterstreaming (@Typwriterstream) November 09, 2012
@chucktodd Not like y'all asked anything when you were within shouting distance.—
Darnay (@SaintEvremonde) November 09, 2012

@chucktodd What press? You have lost the respect of half the nation at least. I have stopped watching the news in favor of the internet—
mary kile (@cristobal62) November 09, 2012
@chucktodd Why do you care now? Media never holds his feet to the fire. It's called a "press" pass. Disgusting failure for Americans.—
Dottie Kuck (@dkuck15138) November 09, 2012
@chucktodd NOW YOU WANT TO ASK QUESTIONS??? That's like eating an entire cheesecake and THEN asking how many calories that was…—
Ben Brumley (@benbrumley) November 09, 2012
@chucktodd Media coddled him for four years, were blatantly complicit in his re-election, he manages you like puppets… Are you shocked?—
Tom Bennett (@molokai_trader) November 09, 2012

@chucktodd Obama got what he needed out of the press. He got reelected. If he could, he'd put your chairs under a bus now. You enabled him.—

@chucktodd you reap what you sow.—
JGMZ (@jgmroz) November 09, 2012
Indeed. With Obama’s second term a done deal, he no longer needs the media to do his bidding. Unlike as is the case for so many Americans, the president’s job is quite secure. Chuck is gonna have to get comfortable sitting on the sidelines with the rest of America.
