David Shuster, the know-it-all liberal who used to host some show on MSNBC, tried to give Twitter user @brento76 a spelling lesson about the word “asinine.”
“It’s ‘assinine,’ with 2s’s… not one,” Shuster smugly (and incorrectly) tweeted.
Naturally, friends and foes alike were quick to point out his error:
@DavidShuster I've loved you since your days on Countdown, but it's "asinine."—

Did you get an Emmy for covering a Spelling Bee? “@DavidShuster: .@brento76 Brent, it's "assinine," with 2 s's… not one.”—

Hoping to cover his tracks, Shuster deleted the tweet before we were able to capture it. Pretty sneaky!
Fortunately, we have @brentlo76′s screencap above, which is more than adequate. We’ll save it for posterity.
(Editor’s note: In the initial version of this post, we managed to misspell Shuster’s name. How “assinine” of us!)
