Tea Party News Network endorses ‘none of the above’ for President

The Tea Party News Network — a new conservative website that got written up by Politico the other day — has announced that it is endorsing neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney for President:

WASHINGTON D.C.– The Tea Party News Network (TPNN) today announced its editorial endorsement for the 2012 presidential race: None of the above.

“We have watched the candidates closely over the past year and are convinced that four more years of an Obama presidency would be disastrous for this country’s economy and for the cause of small government,” Todd Cefaratti, editor of the Tea Party News Network, said today. “We considered an endorsement of Governor Mitt Romney, but concluded that his record raises too many questions about the level of his commitment to conservative principles and limited government. The Tea Party has been burned too many times by Washington politicians who promise change but don’t deliver once elected. As the voice of Tea Party conservatives across America, we are not comfortable endorsing either major party candidate this year based solely upon hopeful rhetoric. Our approach echoes Ronald Reagan’s advice on the Soviet Union: ‘Trust but Verify.’”

TPNN’s non-endorsement didn’t go over well on Twitter:

Ditto. When Romney gets elected, we’ve got rid of Obama. Then we can continue our quest to take back the Republican party from the RINO establishment. Romney can either come along with us, or we can kick him to the curb in 2016.

      • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

I believe it was Glenn Beck that pointed out that the GOP establishment didn’t fully endorse Romney either, case in point being Christie. The more I hear about Romney the more I think he is exactly who we need.

Does anyone know WHO is running that website?

    • Discontentwliars

Maybe it’s Michael Moore-on. The Tea Party has some great candidates, and people who love the US. I hope they don’t support the Teaparty Network News, because it’s moving in the wrong direction already.

That’s a shame… a Tea Party (self-proclaimed, granted) organization declares reality, and the “OHMYGAWDWEMUSTGETRIDOFOBAMA” crowd goes nuts.

You people are no different than Obamabots. You believe what you want to believe, trust what you want to trust, and when faced with the REALITY of Romney, you don’t get mad at Romney, no, you get mad at those pointing to his lack of attire.

Vote Romney, if you’re so determined to get rid of Obama. But, if on January 21st, you’re not (rhetorically) beating hell out of Romney for not being conservative, YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

My problem is, once we get Romney in in 2012… how the hell do we get him OUT in 2016?? ‘Cause I’m not waiting til 2020 for a conservative in the White House. I’ve waited over a quarter century already.

Looks like the Ron Paul’ers hijacked it, the way they seem to hijack everything they get involved with. Can’t help themselves.

P.S. I’ve heard of them and thought it was ridiculous. Who are they going to attract, anyway? They can only lose Tea Partiers like me disgusted with their phoney-baloney ideological “purity.” Or maybe Obama bought ’em off somehow.

    • Ntr

Don’t blame it on the Ron Paul supporters as a whole. Blame it on the phony left-libertarians.

Shocker! Romney isn’t conservative enough for the Tea Party… Couldn’t see that one coming half way through the primary season last year… 😛

“the Tea Party” – No, apparently he isn’t conservative enough for one website named “Tea Party News Network.” They don’t speak for all of the Tea Party, because the Tea Party isn’t an actual organization. This is just one small website, probably from disgruntled Sharon Angle or Mark Neumann supporters.

The really scary thing is that some of the people who post here don’t know Romney is barely to the right of Obama. It was Romneycare that Obamacare was based off. Romney is by far the lesser of 2 evils but seriously you need to see what Romney stood for in Mass

    • http://twitter.com/Gingernlw Gingernlw

Romney was working in a very blue state representing his constituents. He did his job and has stated that his healthcare law was good footer his state and what his people wanted but he does not support it on a national level.

      • http://www.facebook.com/kent.vig Kent Vig

Lets say I will be amazed if Romney is elected and in 4 years we aren’t battling for our constitutional rights. I know with Obama they will disappear

      • Calcat36

I live under his plan in MA. We didn’t want it and illegals are exempt from the 2K fines for not having insurance while continuing to clog up ER’s as primary care.

OK, scratch that site off my list of places on the Web that I’ll ever visit again. Sheesh, what a bunch of do-do’s. Romney is light-years ahead of Obama on any measure of “commitment to conservative principles and limited government”.

Whoever is in charge of this tea part network isn’t intelligent enough to be taken seriously.
    Case in point:
“four more years of obama would be ‘disastrous'” and yet they are such complete nitwits they seem to not realize a non-vote is an obama vote. Apparently they prefer disaster to the “questions about Romney’s record”.
    Fools

    • http://www.facebook.com/kent.vig Kent Vig

Once again, they did not suggest no one vote. They just aren’t endorsing anyone. I thought the lefts reading skills were lacking. We on the right can’t wait to rip anyone to shreds who doesn’t toe the party line. And yes, Christie deserves all the abuse he’s getting because you don’t kiss your parties opponents ass and piss on your parties candidate 1 week before the election.

You wanna know why the left keeps winning? Not because their ideas. We destroy ourselves and then try and be nice to the left so we are liked. I’m sick of it.

      • soJa

You really shouldn’t be talking about anyone elses comprehension of anything. There is a large tea party movement and some of them may look at this as a reason to not vote, which might as well be an obama vote.

I know thinking is hard, but try looking at the big picture. #Stay small

Anyone who admits obama will be a disaster for our country and then decides to be non-committal is a joke and might as well have just stayed home, said nothing at all, and hoped for the best. We see what that hope got us four years ago.

        • http://www.facebook.com/kent.vig Kent Vig

And my point is proven. If the Tea Part network doesn’t endorse Romney then they must kicked out.
If you think the people in the Tea Party are so stupid they will not vote because of what a media outlet says then you are no better than the left who calls the Tea Party a bunch of backwoods hicks who can be led around by the nose. The election isn’t even over and the right begins eating their own.
Conservatives win on the issues with ever poll ever done yet we can’t seem to hold power. “I hate the Tea Party Network because they won’t endorse Romney”. “I hate Romney because he won’t eliminate 90% of govt.”
And it goes on and on and on. We keep pissing on ourselves and wonder why we are wet and stinky all the time

          • soJa

You really believe people aren’t dumb enough to vote, or not, based on what they hear in the media? Wow, keep proving how ignorant you are. Look at the world around you sweetpea, it’s happening.

(here comes the reading comprehension schtick again, wait for it…..)

          • http://www.facebook.com/kent.vig Kent Vig

No, I disagree with your premise that Tea Party people are so stupid they will read that a media outlet is not endorsing Romney and they will not vote because of it. The only ignorance being proved here is yours. You really believe that Tea Party people are that stupid.

And again you prove my point. The right eats their own if they don’t fall in lock step. You can call me all the names you want as does the left when they run out of facts but it doesn’t change the fact that you believe Tea Party people are ignorant hillbillies that can’t think for themselves.

If we on the right don’t ever get past this then we will continue to lose to extremists on the left and it will be over. The shift is already happening. No way in this day and age would JFK be nominated by the Dems. He would be labeled a right wing nut by the moderates in the Republican party.

But you keep insulting us on the “extreme right” and call us idiots. Eventually we will leave and take care of ourselves and you will be that much weaker

They aren’t suggesting people not vote for Romney they just are not endorsing him. Just look at how the Republican Congressional leadership has had to be pushed, kicking and screaming, to stand up to Obama and the Democrats. Given half a chance they’d fall back into their favored position of loyal opposition and just suck from the public trough. I think the TPNN is correct in wanting to “trust but verify”. That said, Vote Romeny/Ryan 2012 as they are the only viable option.

I call self-serving hypocrisy by one of the would-be kings of a decentralized movement.

Todd Nefertiti was one of the Tea Party speakers at Herman Cain’s unity rally at a mega church in Tampa during the RNC.

When claiming unity behind Romney would get him a spot on stage, he had no shame- now he has no principles.

He who knows not what he knows not is a fool, SHUN HIM!

  • http://pinterest.com/j0s1395/ Josephine (D)

I know this is going to get me criticized, but in their defense, Romney is essentially being supported because the GOP establishment wanted it that way. I personally would have preferred Santorum, but the push for Romney was to attract more moderates, which is great, but you still worry about applying true conservative principles in the White House.

The Tea Party doesn’t just go after the Democrats; it also criticizes RINOs and Republicans who don’t mind big government. Keep that in mind.

  • Joe W.

I would endorse Attila the Hun before I would endorse Barack Obama…Mitt Romney was not my 1st choice either, but he is leaps and bounds favorable to the Muzzie from Kenya.

  • Kiliman

To paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld. “You go to [the polls] with the [candidate] you have–not the [candidate] you might want or wish to have at a later time.”

Romney may not be the perfect candidate, but who is? The only way you’ll get the candidate you agree with 100% is to run yourself.

Given the choice we have, who is better to lead our nation? I know who has been a disaster for this country the past 4 years.

Mitt Romney is a good and decent man. He has a proven track record. He will lead America and get our economy back on the right track. That is why I’m voting for Romney for President.

    • my preciousss!!

well said. he wasn’t my first choice either. but to the victor of the GOP primaries, my vote!

TPPN is not new. It is TheTeaParty.net news twitter. After their absurd announcement today just 4 days short of the election, I have just contacted the TheTeaParty.net and asked them to remove me from their mailing list and to never again call me for a donation. Trust me, I had donated a lot to them. I would suggest any of you that are as angry about this as I am to do the same. >> email: [email protected]
