Jubilant Labor Secretary Hilda Solis hands out candy to celebrate 7.9% unemployment

7.9 percent unemployment! Yippee!

Update:

She’s celebrating because she probably views it as a socialistic success.

  • BeyondPolls

What if she was a Republican (for the umpteenth time)?
When Romney’s elected, I can’t wait to see how the media suddenly pivots and begins complaining about these same numbers.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=23909475 Ivan Alvarez

Then Romney can remind them about the “mess” he “inherited.” I’m sure they will accept that as a response….

      • BeyondPolls

Yeah, well. Who knows if he will or not.

      • http://twitter.com/ObamaLies2Much Obama Lies

I expect him to simply roll up his sleeves and get to work FIXING it.
If Obama had spent HALF as much energy fixing the economy as he did blaming it on others, we would be at 4%…

        • L Gray

If he just spent the time that he spent on air force1 we would not be In as Much trouble!!!!!! He Thinks that air force 1 Is His personal plane. Graylion11

    • Azheet Madrors

if Romney has similar success as relates to Reagan post 1980, there’s not much the maddened media could say. let us pray that he has even that opportunity to fix things that oboziodo hath screwedeth up.

      • BeyondPolls

Yeah. I think Bush gave them too much opportunity to criticize him. Besides spending, one of the biggest areas he failed it was energy independence.

        • AZWarrior

And not being more pro-active about illegals

          • BeyondPolls

            Very true.

        • strat77

Yes, Bush went along with too much of the Dem Congress spending decisions.

          • BeyondPolls

IKR? Then they blamed him for the recession.

          • joanc

Bush tried to stop Bwarney Frunks on many occasions, but dealing with a hostile democratic majority in both chambers was not possible. Please place the blame where it is due, and stop using Obama’s favorite blame game, It is getting old and stale just as his failed administration is. Has anyone noticed how the Pelosi group complains about being in the minority, now they know how stonewalling feels. Lets hope, November 6th sees an entire GOP win in both Senate and the house, which will send Pelosi and crew along with Reed packing. Can anyone say Good Riddance etc?

I remember the Idiot liberal media bashing Reagan back in the day too. We really need to stop watching anything that comes from those channels that are biased. Maybe even start contacting the Product companies that advertise on their channels. So sick of the bullshit!!

    • PatriotOne

Oh, yes, they will rail on him over the numbers within 6 months or less. But just watch how fast these companies start investing & hiring when Romney gets in, it’ll be a huge turn around.

      • BeyondPolls

        IKR? Here’s to a landslide!

    • Terry

When Romney is in, they will bitch that 5% UE is too high.

      • Kate

Bush had an unemployment rate of 5.4% in 2004 and was compared to Herbert Hoover and the Great Depression era.

      • BeyondPolls

They did it with Bush. But Romney’s BLS needs to use workforce participation rate rather than unemployment claims rate, because this is more accurate and reliable.

      • DUH

the press will be too busy interviewing O about Mitt over on Jimmy C’s peanut farm

  • http://www.facebook.com/kent.vig Kent Vig

What has happened that 7.9% unemployment and 23 million unemployed is to be celebrated? Unemployment has gone from 7.8 to 7.9% in 4 years after the govt spent 5 trillion more than they took in and we are happy? We are doomed when Obama wins a second term

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1322922771 Jeff Via

Their goal is higher unemployment and more dependence on big Government. Once they achieve this, they will control every aspect of lives. They are almost there, and 4 more years will ensure that this is accomplished.

      • http://www.facebook.com/kent.vig Kent Vig

Govt unemployment is down to 4.3% however. Wow

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Meyers/1472792811 Jim Meyers

This is how absolutely clueless this moron Solis is…3 days before the election and she trots out with a pumpkin full of candy to celebrate the rate going up!!!! Fire them all…go Romney!!!!!!

    • Matt Baker

She is celebrating that the number is below 8.0% … No president has ever been reelected with an unemployment rate above 8.0 in our history

      • GetReal

Or above 7.2%, for that matter.

    • Catchance

Yup. And if the number of people in the labor force (those working plus those actively looking for jobs) were the same as when Obama took office, the figures would actually be over 14% unemployment. It’s only down because so many people have given up.

    • Azheet Madrors

what has happened is that oboza and his minions in the media have so lowered the bar of realistic expectectations, that its almost criminal. and the lemmings continue to follow them to the sea of woe…(not the tree, but the beautiful sea!)

  • bicentennialguy

These people are such jokes. She ought to be embarrassed at the unemployment numbers rather than celebratory of her own incompetence.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JIBE3OATATHRVG62ZGZXOG75XA JMY3000

    This is insane.

    • Azheet Madrors

      completely.

  • Fire and Adjust!

Yay………..7.9%……….here is one piece of candy for every 100 people we signed up to the government dole this week…….cheers!

  • https://twitter.com/pmseever Pam

Hello, it’s redistribution of candy wealth, someone in her office had more candy than someone else so she in all her wisdom is using redistribution so that everyone can have their fair share of someone else’s candy! Really people, get a grip. This has nothing to do with numbers and all to do with sharing.

She must have seen Stephen Crowder’s video. It gave her ideas.

She needs some “all day suckers ” to pass out to the dolts!

  • Harry Myers

Praying that it will be her last Halloween as Secretary.

  • TundraThunder

Any guesses what she’d hand out if the true unemployment numbers were released? My guess: Government job applications.

  • Marcy Cook

WTF??? We’re heading back up and she’s celebrating????…I’m beginning to believe we really have been invaded by space aliens.

  • http://twitter.com/fleadog99 Matt Johnston

I think everyone forgets that Dems controlled congress from 2006 through 2010. If Obama was stopped from “passing his policies” due to Rep. controlled congress, then Bush can not be at fault for economy decline through 2006-2010 using same logic.

  • MoxieLouise

The only candy appropriate here is Snickers. Or maybe $100,000 Bar.

    • Kate

      How about “Air Heads?”

      • MoxieLouise

        Definitely not PayDay…

  • http://twitter.com/onewhocansee Jon

Give me a break!…..of that kit-kat bar. No, wait! I changed my mind. GIVE ME A JOB!!!!

  • RDPortland

The spin of the lefties this morning trying to sell these numbers is insane. 7.9% unemployment, with real unemployment over 14%, is simply not acceptable. This is what you get when you vote for an anti-business, anti-energy president.

We need Mitt Romney. We have businesses WAITING to invest, WAITING to build until they can be sure Obama is out of office. We need someone who can bring responsible spending into place, while encouraging small businesses and corporations alike. That simply isn’t happening now, and it needs to.

  • Jeffrey Olah

did the taxpayers buy that candy or was it stolen from the kids that worked hard for it to redistribute to the lame stream media

  • chuck146

IF THE TRUTH WAS KNOWN, IT WOULD BE MORE LIKE 11%, BUT YOU WON’T HEAR THAT TIL AFTER THE ELECTION.

    • r_coplin2001

In my state the offcial unemployment rate is close to 11% and i live in California and if prop 30 is passed the unemployment rate will even go higher.

  • http://twitter.com/johnwquinn John W. Quinn

The Administration probably counted Trick or Treaters as members of the employment force.

    • MoxieLouise

      LOLOL

  • Paul C.

You can’t believe NOTHING coming out of this WH.

  • Andi

Get over yourselves folks… it was Halloween Candy and had nothing to do with celebrating anything but Halloween

    • PatriotOne

You dumb ass, yes it was in celebration of the DISMAL jobs numbers, a mere 126k give or take a few hundred. That is NOT sufficient at all. Actually, it’s pretty damn horrible given all the people out of work. Why don’t you get a clue and leave the Barry candy & juice alone, it’ll fry your brain. Oh, wait, guess it’s too late for you!

    • TocksNedlog

It’s amazing how the optics of a particular situation never mean anything to liberals. Then again, when you elect Vice President Gaffe-o-matic you kinda have to throw up your hands and say “Que sera sera”.

  • sb36695

    Only democrats celebrate failure.
    Vote Republican for Recovery.
    Vote Democrat for Depression.

  • Rod Heinemeyer

Seriously….Why would you celebrate going up a tenth of a point, which didnt include DC or NY….Send out the sacraficial lamb and say everything is great…No its not..BS

  • TheGrimCreeper

Hands in the air for the preezy!!!

  • obathos

    Where’s MY celebratory nobama crunchbar?

  • tjp77

How is 7.9% unemployment a reason to celebrate?

And how is she qualified to be secretary of labor? She looks like the woman I pay to clean my apartment every week. Perhaps she should consider a career change, for all our sakes.

  • http://twitter.com/Pageyuri54 Pageyuri

I thought the last days Bush was in offices, that 7.8% was bad, but 7.9% is good. I don’t get it?

  • r_coplin2001

I like to see what the media says about this because if this was a Republican administration you know the media would be saying that the administration is heartless to celebrate the unemployment rate going up.

  • Joey B.

    Che would be proud

  • rjlahr

She has a job, she is not part of the 7.9% Maybe that is what she is celebrating?

    • http://www.facebook.com/joshua.sumner.52 Joshua Sumner

she is about to be part of the 7.9…

  • scubaron

I GUESS THIS IS SOME OF THAT CHANGE I HEARD ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO..!!

  • http://granitegrok.com/author/mike Mike Rogers

She seems to be celebrating the number of jobs added. Trouble is that’s way below population growth.

  • Gallatin

When Romney becomes President the questions from the libtard media will be along the lines of; “Keep your candy we want to know what you’re doing about unemployment being under 5% for the last 4 years?” “Does President Romney believe that 5% unemployment is a good enough record to be reelected on, we sure don’t”

  • pendit1

Buckets of candy?! I thought Halloween ended a couple of nights ago.
Then again, with this administration…it’s ‘Fright Night’ 24/7.

    • TocksNedlog

That’s our current administration! They’ve been serving up buckets of stale, pre-packaged crap for the past 4 years.

      • Catchance

LOL. No, really. I laughed out loud. Thanks.

  • TocksNedlog

She handed out candy to the reporters, and then gave the rest of us a bag full of rocks.

  • TundraThunder

A miner should send her a large piece of coal “candy”.

She is giving candy that she didnt let her children eat on Holloween , what better way from a liberal standpoint to take from your children and grandchildren , like obama did on the $16 Trillion deficit.

Only fools would think an increase in unemployment numbers are a good thing.

    • rbtpowell

Particularly since the real Unemployment rate is still at 14.7%….hasn’t changed for sometime now. Statements from this administration don’t have to beneficial or even true, the cattle will keep right on walking up the shoot.

Only fools would think an increase in unemployment numbers are a good thing.

Just yesterday the Preezy displayed his Halloween costume. He dressed up in a brand new (taxpayer funded of course) bomber jacket and pretended to be a Commander in Chief.

    • littleones

with all that smoking going on (don’t you think it looks like he’s smoking again? a little pale and drawn…) I was surprised how far he jogged from the plane!

If Romney’s elected he will own this economy from day one. The media will be brutal but the good thing is we know he can handle it.

I’d check that over REEEEEL close before you let your kids eat it…

  • traffic_robot

Only in this administration is utter failure to be celebrated. Maybe when it creeps back up over 8% she’ll give everyone a gold star.

  • Purple State

The conclusion I might draw from an orange bucket with a black cat’s face on it full of CANDY two days after Halloween is that it had something to do with Halloween…

  • Cesar Alvarez-Castillo

And how are the unemployment numbers for her home state of California? Or would that be an ‘inconvenient truth’?

  • tim62

she’s just happy that she can count ill. aliens working instead of Americans .

What the hell happened in the last 4 years,it’s like someone went to a insane asylum and let the inmates out and put them in charge of washington.
