Pastor who spoke at inauguration believes all white people going to hell, stimulus was ‘genius’

Racially charged comments made by the Rev. Dr. James Lowery at a “get out the vote” event in Forsyth, Ga., on behalf of the president are making the rounds on Twitter today. According to the Monroe County Reporter, Lowery, who delivered the benediction at President Obama’s inauguration ceremony in 2009, told an audience of voters that level of “hatred and bitterness” coming out of the election had him returning to his views as a young militant that all white people are going to hell.

The Reporter also quoted Lowery as saying, “I don’t know what kind of a n—– wouldn’t vote with a black man running. All that he did with the stimulus was genius. Nobody intelligent would risk this country with Romney.” Contacted by the Daily Caller for comment, Lowery said the line about white people going to hell was clearly a joke, and he didn’t remember making the second statement.

Opinion on Twitter is split between whether Lowery’s comments represent the “new tone” in Washington or the “post-racial” America of the Obama administration.

The comments raise questions not only about the spiritual company the president keeps, but also about the souls of mixed-race individuals.

This guy is a “Pastor” ?

If this person had ANY faith in God he’d be worried about his status in Hell for being a false prophet ! Not to mention that he steered his congregation to Hell too.
THIS guy isn’t worried about his “afterlife” as long as he gets “bucks” on this side.

Wanna bet that his monetary contribution to his community is less than zero (drawing a salary on the backs of the unfortunate).

    • http://twitter.com/AmyLSonger Amy Songer

Pastor of what? He is leading people, but it is pretty obvious it is not to draw near to God. It is to his way of thinking.

      • TJCrane_NCC1701

Hey Amy, my response would have been the same as TundraThunder (below),

“I wonder if he’s related to Al Sharpton or Jeremiah Wright. They all might sit at a table and think of ways to piss people off.”
What’s the address to “Rev” Al’s “Church” that he’s been in “Minister” of since before he was a teenager ?

Could people be anymore INSANE to believe this ?

I would love to see a love nation tired of the hypocritical doctrine offered by these “pastors”. I mean where does an ordained pastor get off throwing these racial comments.

          • TJCrane_NCC1701

AMEN ! Bud. Let’s just be people first !

    • Garth Haycock

I think Obama is saying that the guy is a pasteur. He wants to scorch everything to death, then bring back only those with black skin.

  • TundraThunder

I wonder if he’s related to Al Sharpton or Jeremiah Wright. They all might sit at a table and think of ways to piss people off.

  • Love of Country

Overt racism has been the common bond that has binded the DNC together for the last 200 years.

Nothing to see here, folks ….. please move along …

and what color people run the dnc?

  • cfcscott1905

    So….we get the tequila, then?

  • Shawn Smith

Yeah, just a joke. I wonder how it would go over if some white conservative publicly made the same “joke” about black people. Would that guy palling around with Romney be A-OK?

To call this a double-standard is insufficient. To call this hypocrisy does not convey the extent of the madness. This hateful racist is a friend of our president. But, I’m sure that, just like with Wright, Obama doesn’t share this guy’s racial views.

  • Judy B

He’s going to be real surprised when he gets there!

  • NCRelite

    Rude!

A pastor who is leading people away from God and to his self-centered views.

Why did Obama leave our Navy Seals to die in Libya? Left them without support for 7 hours. Takes credit for Seals killing BinLadin then turns his back and lets them die in Benghazi Libya. What a COWARD MR OBAMA IS.

  • Lara (LAIR-A)

Methinks he’s another Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. Same modus operandi.

So much for Obama’s slogan of “Forward…”

It would be nice for a reporter to ask the Obama campaign if they disavow the preachers comments.

Take no notice of this fool. He’s merely projecting.

  • Silenttype78

I always knew that there were people who hated white people. I had no idea that there were so many until Obama was elected.

    • Tish

Well they learned from the most virulent white hater of them all.. Obama, the great divider.. he brings out the worst in everyone

  • Thomas Byron

If this Pastor was a true Christian Pastor he wouldn’t have made such a crude assertion. Color has no option when going to hell.

  • emaleroland

Wonder if “Rev. Dr. James Lowery” is another self-proclaimed “civil” rights leader, that gave himself the title of Reverend, due to affirmative action, and obtained an “honorary” or faux doctorate based upon plagiarism like Michael King?!

  • Donna Jackson

With that statement, it makes me wonder if Obama stopped and thought about why his parents and grandparents were much more spiritual and not religious.

  • radjahshelduck

Reverend Lowery is 91, as such he is old enough to remember a time when a black man saying such things in Forsyth County risked losing his life. I regard it as a highly favorable commentary on how America has improved in the Reverend’s lifetime that the worst he will experience for his harsh words is harsh words in response.

    • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

And what does exactly that have to do with the fact that he is a racist H8er? Are you saying it’s a good thing he will suffer no worse repercussions for expressing his vile beliefs? No loss of job, no loss of prestige, no public denunciation by anyone affiliated with him?

  • Emily Barnell Mixay

This guy makes Christians look bad. It drives me nuts, because I am Christian and some people think that ALL Christians believe the way some pastors do.

  • stuckinIL4now

The pastor has a point–we’ve all just been through 4 years of hell living with Obamuh as prezuhdunce, watching him ruin our country and putting limits on our freedoms at every turn while bankrupting us. That’s been pure h-e-double-hockey-sticks.

  • bonnieblue2A

Obama surrounds himself with the false prophets of Black Liberation Theology. Knowing that he sat through 20 yrs. of Rev. Wright’s hate sermons should this be of any suprise? Race based religion is not rooted in the Word (the Torah); but rather is a tool of evil to lead its followers astray.

Jay Carney: Clearly the Reverend Doctor Butcher Baker Candlestick Maker James Lowery, Esquire meant to say was “All white people are going to HEAL…
Why anyone would think otherwise confounds me….Now if you’d all look at this shiny object….”

  • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

Why — HA HA — it was just a joke! Here, allow me to offer this ripping jest about white robes and burning crosses in reply . . .

Yeah, I don;t think that would go over so well.

  • TocksNedlog

So . . . which half of the president is going to hell?

  • TocksNedlog

He says that saying all white people will go to hell was “clearly” a joke? Ha ……………………………………. ha.

  • bill detwiler

he is going to spend eternity with alot of whites

  • TocksNedlog

Now, you just stand still, Pastor Lowery, and don’t you worry none about those bus wheels approaching — it’ll all be over real soon.

  • http://crev.info/ bondmen

Mike Vanderboegh at Sipsey Street Irregulars has an interesting analysis with respect to the right Rev. Dr. James Lowery’s comment condemning all white people to hell. My guess is the reverend hasn’t thoroughly thought through the implications of his racial hatred for white people but this does not surprise me either when considering the intellectual font from which such thoughts arise. Let’s hope he ‘do’ better in his next address to a public assembly.

    Isn’t Obama half white?

  • DorothyGrissom

Obama’s lifetime association with racists of all sorts, including racist pastors, explains that smoldering anger he often cannot stop from seeping out of him. We need a President of all the people: Black, White, Brown, Yellow! Most of all, we need a president who isn’t ANGRY all the time.

  • RealityBitesBack

Hell – isn’t that just another spin on the same threat of “global warming”?

Joke is on him. Stimulus created ‘hell” and he’s too ignorant to notice. ANOTHER liberal who doesn’t have to work for a living, who isn’t personally responsible for a payroll, who wants to tell the rest of us how the economy works.

  • $32032709

Jesus is neither black or white. Obama is of mixed race….his mother white.

  • dwsmokin

So, he makes no special dispensation for the whites that support Obama? All white people are going to hell. Hmm, and I thought all the religious intolerants were supposed to be Republicans.

I’d like to see somebody ask the President if he agrees with Mr. Lowry’s position. Personally, I’m tired of these racists assholes who end up as the most prominent black leaders. Black folks, how about you pick some upstanding, intelligent non-racist folks to lead? I can think of 5 or 6 blacks who would qualify off the top of my head- downside is, they’re all Republican. Tired of it.

    • MoxieLouise

Guess this guy never heard that song “red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world.”

Your candidate Mitt Romney not a surrogate Mitt himself was a Bishop of a religion founded on racism. You’re candidate Mitt Romney not a surrogate Mitt himself had no problem being involved in a religion that didn’t allow blacks UNTIL 1978. This is who you are voting for,yet Rev Lowery somehow diminshes Obama’s Administration. Again you mock the new tone Pres Obama asked for, but want it for Stacey Dash ,Mia Love Allen West Bobby Jindal. etc.

    • milt1007

Democrats have so much respect for minorities: Democrats fought Abe Lincoln when he freed black people from slavery. A Democrat drove the “Trail of Tears”. Democrats came up with Jim Crow laws. Democrats opposed women’s suffrage. Democrats developed abortion and birth control as a way to lower the population of minorities. A Democrat threw the Japanese in internment camps. A Democrat ordered the Tuskegee experiments. Democrats filibusters civil rights bills in the 1960s. And today, Democrats keep blacks and other minorities from reaching their potential by enslaving them in economic disparity and government dependence. Need I say more, it’s easy to see who the real racists in this country are!

      • michael s

You get no argument from me on your statements. And what color were all the Democrats you mentioned?
