OWS celebrates Sandy aftermath: ‘No subways. No electricity. No chains.’

At least 35 people are dead. Family homes have been destroyed and condemned. Hospitals and neighborhoods have been evacuated. And millions remain stranded without power in the brutal wake of Hurricane Sandy. The crisis is far from over.

So how does the official Twitter account of Occupy Wall Street respond to the devastation? Despicably, natch.

Occupiers are celebrating the glory of a city “unchained” from the capitalist oppression of  transportation and electricity.

Revolting, but pretty much expected from a movement with so little self-awareness that it rails against capitalism and celebrates the loss of electricity via Twitter.

What obscures community is a culture of death that depicts human beings as having no intrinsic value, but merely gender, race, and social class. That’s what human beings are to marxists like you, OWS.

What has obscured community is the collapse of traditional values.

You, OWS, fight to eliminate traditional values. You are an expression of the culture of death. It is no coincidence that your movement was punctuated by murder and rape.

And how many of those posting about organizing looting parties also follow @Occupywallst ?

  • TocksNedlog

Attention, Occupy Wall Street, your communities are NOT ‘flourishing’ — they’re floating and floundering!

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/3WF2ZV2NYXMNXZEY3SXMA3T6KI Lefty

And probably have an “odor” about them..

  • Rhogue

When capitalism retreats people become slaves of the state; standing in bread lines, carrying water in buckets, wearing rags, walking (often shoeless), without emergency services, communications, etc. Often ‘sharing meals’ means digging in the same trash heap for scraps. OWS should go occupy a third world country for a few years. Idiots.

  • http://twitter.com/UNHuskerMom Charlotte Gregersen

I guess you don’t need transportation to get to work (they probably don’t work), you don’t need capitalism to buy your food (they must grow it on the streets), and the electricity they are using is imaginery. What a bunch of idiots. Once again, not sure what they actually support other than the government should do everything for them, including wipe their you know what.

  • timx

“Go outside. Meet your neighbors. Talk. Share a meal. When capitalism retreats, our communities flourish.”

With the annual shower/bath via Sandy – at least they might smell better…..for a few hours anyway.

  • TocksNedlog

Just today, Mitt Romney has done more for the victims of this storm than OWS will EVER do.

  • Fire and Adjust!

“When capitalism retreats, our communities flourish”……………….what an utter crock of BS

There is NO real capitalism in:

Afghanistan, Somalia, Rep. of Congo, Libya, Sudan, Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Yemen, Venezuela, Cuba (among others)……….. and these are real bastions of communities flourishing aren’t they you OWS morons?

    • MrSubtle

You forgot that worker’s paradise North Korea!

    • Beth

Forget those other countries, that’s obvious. What about New Orleans’ Ninth Ward? What about that “community,” how did that work out when “capitalism was in retreat?”
I hate these “occupy” kiddies – they are so sheltered and naive it is repulsive. I think they must be mentally ill.

  • Shawn Smith

When government does more and more for us, we do less and less for ourselves, and (perhaps more importantly) for our neighbors. It is when socialism advances that a sense of community dies, not capitalism.

If the government is going to take care of my neighbor across the street, I have no need to check on her. In fact, I’m just going to sit home waiting for that same government to take care of me.

    These people are beyond useless.

  • bicentennialguy

No subways? No electricity? They think that will help them? Let’s round them all up, deposit them in Death Valley or the Badlands in Montana where there’s no electricity or capitalism or anything else….and watch them “flourish.”

    • MrSubtle

Put the hippies on a reservation where no capitalism is allowed yo interfere and see how much they like it. Spoiled brats!

      • Lady 12

Some idiots tried to go without capitalism in WA with the “Home Colony.” The thing naturally fell apart in a very short time, and when it fell apart the “colonists” were quarreling bitterly over who owned what. The judge who was tasked with sorting out ownership just about summed it up: “These people simply cannot get along!”

Agreed! Let’s see how well their iPhones and iPads work out there without electricity or anything else. I’m sickened by these idiots who believe they understand what drives communities. As one poster stated, it is traditional values that drive communities, not the OWS brand of communism.

Go outside. Meet your neighbors. Talk. Share a meal. When capitalism retreats, our communities flourish.

    Yeah. Great idea! Wonderful!!!

Try going outside and meeting your neighbors along the streets of Zimbabwe, Johannesburg, or some other Third World Shit Hole where communism and tribalism has taken root. And see how long you last!

If you are not shot dead on sight for being ‘different’. Everything of value you have will be taken from you. Including your Passport. Then you will have nothing! Yet, you will be just like everybody else.

  • http://twitter.com/Cammy573 Cammy Abbott

These are simply people who want to do nothing for themselves, but instead want government to do it for them. That way they are responsible for nothing. I am so sick of this mentality in America!

My daughter will be taught to work for what she wants. I want her to be grateful! Not ticked off because the government won’t give her what someone else has.

  • NCRelite

they rail against capitalism but what happens when they get a tooth ache? do they just grin and bear it?

    • MrSubtle

Don’t worry! Magical communism fairies will arrive right on time to fix up that tooth! It will happen as soon as we smash America to dust with our mighty turd hurlers and rude talk. Just watch!

  • CalCon10

I guess you OWS types dig cholera epidemics, too. Because when you lose water supply, that’s what happens.

Are we sure this isn’t really another misunderstood gag, like Romney banning Instagram (see elsewhere)? Surely these halfwits can’t REALLY be so . . .. halfwitted.

  • kbielefe

Uh, capitalists are the ones who encourage spontaneous charitable giving, in voluntary, personal, mutually beneficial transactions free from coercion. It’s you socialists who want to involve a large faceless bureaucracy to seize and redistribute wealth using police power. You can’t superimpose your experience with your neighbors onto a government of over 300 million people. It doesn’t scale like that.

  • ConradBaylor

Using the modern Internet technology to damn modern technology. A fool and his irony seldom meet.

  • Joseph Schmoe

You mistake sarcasm for criticism. Your hyperbole is as bad as theirs.

Some of OWS comments were hopeful and encouraging us to build a caring community from the experience.

When you get your panties in a bunch over one comment and miss the whole picture, you make yourself look stupid.

    • GTFOBigGovt

Considering people WERE/ARE helping each other instead of “HAVING A MEAL” it just shows how selfish and immature the OWS tweeter is. Why wasn’t/isn’t HE OUT HELPING his fellow man and getting off the machine juice?

    What’s so virtuous about “community”?

When the nihilist upraise the banner of collectivism, the critics respond by upraising the banner of collectivism.

Those who find virtue in the crowd, claim “community” the ideal, speak dreamily of villages raising a child, find vice in the proud, independent and self-reliant individual–the true enemy of gods and despots

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or will follow the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and ego.”

“It is thus necessary that the individual should finally come to realize that his own ego is of no importance in comparison with the existence of his nation … that above all the unity of a nation’s spirit and will are worth far more than the freedom of the spirit and will of an individual….”

“This state of mind, which subordinates the interests of the ego to the conservation of the community, is really the first premise for every truly human culture…. The basic attitude from which such activity arises, we call–to distinguish it from egoism and selfishness–idealism. By this we understand only the individual’s capacity to make sacrifices for the community, for his fellow men.”
-The Moral Philosophy of Nazism, Adolf Hitler, 1936 Bucheburg, Germany

And those who seek virtue in tending to the suffering of others–bluntly, those who feed off the suffering–will insure there is always suffering in order to be virtuous.

Neither grasps that capitalism is moral because it recognizes each and every flesh and blood, real life individual as autonomous.

“Community” is an abstraction; it doesn’t really exist. Only individual human beings exist. Perhaps if we started speaking in terms of individuals, we might begin to realize that our political ideals and our self-righteous gods are anathema to human life. To life as each man could and ought to live it, man qua man.

Perhaps then we might stop paying lip service to individual rights and to freedom.

And perhaps then we might find that benevolence towards each other–as individuals– isn’t for disasters but for every day living.

What translation of the Bible are you using? All the ones on Bible Gateway that actually translate “mammon” render it as “money,” “wealth,” “riches,” “possessions,” or something similar.

    This stuff isn’t new, folks.

The New Left: The Anti-Industrial Revolution
    (c) 1965

“In the tumultuous late 60s and early 70s, a social movement known as the “New Left” emerged as a major cultural influence, especially on the youth of America. It was a movement that embraced “flower-power,” [feminism, ecology] and psychedelic “consciousness-expansion,” that lionized Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro and launched the Black Panthers and the Theater of the Absurd.

“In _The New Left_, Ayn Rand, bestselling novelist and originator of the philosophy of Objectivism, identified the intellectual roots of this movement. She urged people to repudiate its mindless nihilism[–its primitive, tribalist, anti-industrial mentality–]and to uphold, instead, a philosophy of reason, egoism, individualism, capitalism, and technological progress.”
