On Wednesday night, someone took over the government-operated NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Twitter account and turned it into a Cher-like social media cesspool for anti-Romney rants and raves. Followers immediately wondered why their tax dollars were being used to subsidize lunatic partisan messages and disseminate Soros-sponsored hit pieces on Republicans.
Why is @NASAJPL shilling for Obama! This is a government agency!!—

@NASAJPL Why are you re-tweeing anti-Romney Tweets?—
Frunkis (@navyvetpc6) October 18, 2012
@NASAJPL I wonder why a gov't agency is retweeting an article from thinkprogress knocking Romney? Please keep the politics out of science.—
Andrew Brignac (@abrignac) October 18, 2012
Hah. Someone running @NASAJPL accidentally retweeted a ThinkProgress link.—
Chris Chancellor (@Chancelloriate) October 18, 2012
The guilty tweeter tried to cover his/her tracks:
Huh, this is interesting. I could have sworn I saw @NASAJPL retweeting some political stuff…but it appears to be gone now. I wonder why…—
BlackWidower (@theblackwidower) October 18, 2012
But quick-acting Twitchy readers captured some screen shots of the @NASAJPL retweets:
Looks like @nasajpl took these RT's down: http://t.co/14wSq6Cl—

Yet more @nasajpl RT's just removed: @DRUDGE @michellemalkin @TwitchyTeam http://t.co/paD0ljxr—

At 1:22am, @NASAJPL disavowed the political tweets, but did not identify the culprit or mention any consequences.
@NASAJPL Was waiting for that.—

@NASAJPL haha. thought that was odd. But who is @MarsCuriosity voting for?—
Will Durgin (@WDurgin) October 18, 2012
@TwitchyTeam My sister Lisa works for JPL. If there are any other (R)'s, they're good at hiding under their desks, w/duct-taped mouths.—
ChristineHilzer (@chilzer) October 18, 2012
@NASAJPL I kind of wondered about that……..—

We’ll see. Safe to say, the NASA employee tweeting from the far-left corners of outer space has come back down to Earth.
