NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Twitter account retweets anti-Romney propaganda

On Wednesday night, someone took over the government-operated NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Twitter account and turned it into a Cher-like social media cesspool for anti-Romney rants and raves. Followers immediately wondered why their tax dollars were being used to subsidize lunatic partisan messages and disseminate Soros-sponsored hit pieces on Republicans.

The guilty tweeter tried to cover his/her tracks:

But quick-acting Twitchy readers captured some screen shots of the @NASAJPL retweets:

At 1:22am, @NASAJPL disavowed the political tweets, but did not identify the culprit or mention any consequences.

We’ll see. Safe to say, the NASA employee tweeting from the far-left corners of outer space has come back down to Earth.

  • CalCon10

Probably getting a promotion and a medal, if what we’re hearing about the Civil Service is true.

    • SonofaCV15

Someone found a really good way to get an early retirement…. Another great launch for NASAJPL! Up in flames on liftoff.

    • SonofaCV15

Ok… so now that I’ve had my sarcastic “fun” (it’s really not that fun in the first place) and that has had time to soak in… I will let NASAJPL (proper) off the hook.

It’s not the mistakes that we make… It’s how we recover from them that makes us who we are. Without the mistakes… we are accident’s waiting to happen. That goes for the individual… as well as the whole community and nation.

Kudo’s to NASAJPL for identifying the mistake… and hopefully, recovering from it with the gracefulness of what makes America and real Americans great.

As for the past four years… we will correct that mistake come November 6th.

  • Ralph Thayer

Guess they should change their passwords more often, before someone launches a missile or something.

    • SonofaCV15

      Now that’s funny right there.

“And I think it’s gonna be a long long time
Till touch down brings me round again to find
I’m not the man they think I am at home
Oh no no no I’m a rocket man
Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone…”

Maybe Elton can donate some of his wealth to help keep NASAJPL up.

  • DavidKramer

Hmmmm, should NASA be added to the list PBS is on?

    • $30423294

      Of course.

I was going to say, you know, as much as I’m all choked up about Li’l Duce pulling funding from NASA, it’s no longer all that high on my advocacy list.

Fend for yourselves, bureaucrat rocket scientists.

Henceforth you are known to me only as…

      Big Bird in Space

      • SonofaCV15

        “Sunny Day
        Sweepin’ the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet

Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame Street….”

Yeh… I can tell NASAJPL how to get there… go two blocks east, turn right at the stop sign, strap a rocket to your azz and light the fuse. You’ll be there in no time.

  • $7421226

the obama sycophant hiding in NASA is probably waiting their chance to murder some Americans- – remember obama changed NASA to MUSLIM OUTREACH now.

    • NPete

      Great memory, I had forgot

  • JeffWRidge

Come on NASA, stay clear of politics. It’s not rocket science, you know.

  • rivers

Oh that is so sad. Just two weeks ago my kids and I had the most awesomely unifying American moment after waiting in the hot sun for two hours with a groundswell crowd from all walks of life, about 200 people, to see the space shuttle fly down the Arroyo after passing over JPL. We have always been so proud of JPL and the work that they do, so proud that they are part of our community, the open house that they hold every May is a fantastic event. Please don’t ruin a uniquely American institution by becoming partisan.

  • Terika

We traded in our Shuttle program so we can pay Russia to allow us to hitch a ride…oh, and now NASA is “pivoting” to FEDucate us on the awesomely awesome awesomeness of all that is MuslimWorld Science. JFK is NOT digging alot that this WH is doing. (Teddy, maybe – not John).

    • YoloCalVet

I’ll bet “Jack” bitch slapped “Teddy” on a regular basis in the formative years.

    • driveswift

Muslimworld science? Where do you people come from?

      • Timothy Noonan

Not of this world for sure. Maybe Curiosity can find a clue on Mars, or even Voyager someday.

        • Terika

Maybe you should get informed by the FACTS and not insult the people who are trying to provide you with them. Makes you look kinda… oh – looky – what’s this? —>

          • Timothy Noonan

If you made your point in English instead of juvenile Twitchy slang one might know what you are talking about…Now go educate yourself on why NASA is in the state that it is in by reading Neil drGrasse Tyson’s book, Space Chronicles. Hell, since you like YouTube, search his name and listen to what he has to say how we have failed NASA and, ulitimately, all Americans because we have pinched relative pennies with NASA’s and all federal science programs. It is a travesty.

          • Terika

Nice “pivot” off the subject/point I was making. If you are going to jump in and attack a point. Stick to it. Is NASA NOT concentrating “probably the primary objective” to use our tax $ to placate muslim feelings? Did Obama NOT stop the shuttle program thus making us have to BUY a seat from Russia? These are the facts. Digging back & over & sideways to other topics – so typical. Seen alot of that with this admin, too. Hope they pay you well. If that, too, is with our tax $$, you’re welcome. Not.

          • Timothy Noonan

I had no idea what point you were making because of your choice of slang…The final shuttle extension of life was signed Bush 43. Get your facts in order, my friend. If you really believe NASA’s pimary objective is to placate Muslims then there is no hope to change your myopic opinion. Go read and listen to what Dr. Tyson has to say about NASA and how it has been used the last 50 years.

You know we should learn from the Muslims, they were a great science and mathematics culture but succumbed to religious ideology. They stopped using empirically derived data to make decisions and relied upon blind faith. We are tracking that way with how folks are maligning science and using faith as sources of facts. Scary.

You are welcome. I have enjoyed defending our freedoms aboard.

          • Tera Blair Kirk

I don’t think I see any slang in her posts James…..I am not the best at “twitchy slang” as you put it, but I am very good at recognizing words that belong to the english language, and she’s using all “real” words. Maybe it’s the shortened sentences that are making it sound slang-ish. There’s a couple abbreviations……I dunno maybe try taking a high school ENG course if you need help distinguishing real words and slang…… (btw, dunno is slang, and so is btw)

          • Timothy Noonan

Words that do not exist – FEDucate, MuslimWorld. Say what you mean, do not invent juvenile words or catchphrases.

      • Terika

No – more llike where do THESE people come from? (The guy you obviously voted for & his buds) —> You’re welcome.

      • Stian Brinch

pay no attention to driveswift; it’s another lying Democrat who claims to be Republican. No honesty, no integrity, just an addled brain full of narcissistic emotions.

  • Mackie72

I once tweeted some comments about ObamaCare from my company’s account by mistake. It hit me about 2 minutes later and I deleted it fast. Whew! After that, I used a whole different browser for the work twitter account. I suspect this idiot did the same thing.

  • Dodie

I thought NASA was now just a Muslim outreach program..

    • Terika

Yep – pls note my enlightening convo w/ “James Mc C” & “Driveswift” below, I figure one or both will be visiting their Soros funded brilliance upon you, shortly, also. (Then supply them w/ facts (video even), and they go off-point to argue something quasi-related – it’s stunning!)

      • Timothy Noonan

My friend, here was your nonsensical comment – We traded in our Shuttle program so we can pay Russia to allow us to hitch a ride…oh, and now NASA is “pivoting” to FEDucate us on the awesomely awesome awesomeness of all that is MuslimWorld Science. JFK is NOT digging alot that this WH is doing. (Teddy, maybe – not John).-

I told to you read Dr. Tyson’s book and view his comments on Youtube as to why NASA is in the state that it is in. You are distracted by a comment made two years ago when the problems at NASA started decades ago.

As a science based organization, there work will benefit ALL humans, even the holy rollers who dismiss science despite benefiting from the work science has given us. Now you have been enlightened.

      • Timothy Noonan
  • thetawake

Guess any nitwit can have his finger on the Twitter switch over @nasajpl. Seems they did catch their rogue-bozo-mistake soon enough. For the record, I still don’t get why ‘binders full of women’ is a thing.

    • Guest

It’s only a “thing ” to libs because when your candidate has an awful record you have to pounce on small things and turn them into something. It’s really quite pathetic. It is funny though watching them in their makeshift Big Bird costumes, vagina costumes now book binders. What they really need is a dunce hat.

      • thetawake

😀 So true! The left can only think in politically-correct-speak. If the Governor had said, ‘an entire file of prospective female applicants’, no one would have noticed. I myself prefer abbreviation to bloviation.

        • TexSizzle

In that case, they would probably be dressing up as file folders or file cabinets.

      • Terika

they can wrap their dunce hats in tin-foil & get a solar tax rebate – maybe even charge some neurons… nah – never mind…

    • Bryan Williams

I don’t know either. You’d think they’d love a governor who recognized there were so few women in high positions and sought to rectify it.

      • driveswift

A governor who was TOLD by women’s groups to put women in cabinet positions, so he gave them the least important roles in his office doesn’t impress me as a woman. He didn’t know ANY qualified women? Not one? Is it because he surrounds himself with women who are submissive, unempowered, and unable to perform in the workplace?

        • Murray

          Yeah… what a scumbag!!
          LT Governor
Consumer affairs and business regulation (X2)
          Housing and community development (X2)
          Business and Technology (X2)
          Workforce development
          Elder affairs
with jobs like those, they may as well have been fetching coffee.

          end sarc.

          • Tera Blair Kirk

@driveswift did you look at the positions he gave to women before you opened your dumb mouth, or just like every liberal, assumed you know exactly what the truth is without any shred of real evidence or research? par for the course I’d say……..

          • Ken Alan Draper

Judging from her twitter handle she Drives for Swift. Swift is known in the trucking industry for hiring yahoo’s who shouldn’t be allowed to drive a car, let alone an 18 wheeler.

          • driveswift

Higher up positions went to campaign donors, isn’t that cronyism?

        • Stian Brinch

driveswift, if you admit that you are a partisan Democrat who never votes for a conservative, I’ll admit that you are also likely a “feminist,” and therefore sexist by definition. If you spoke directly to the women that Romney appointed and described them the way you just did to their faces, they’d laugh at you. You wouldn’t do it anyway, because they’d intimidate you with their strength, assertiveness and intelligence.

    • Bryan Williams

If it were a Democrat who contacted women’s groups to help search for viable female job candidates, he’d receive the “Glass-Ceiling-Breaker of the Year Award” from the NOW.

      • driveswift

He didn’t contact them, THEY contacted HIM.

        • YeahWeWill

Yet our POTUS has women employees with a median income that is 18% less for women than men but shhhhh; Don’t tell!

    • CNB78

I agree Chad.I’m a woman and took no offense whatsoever. The Obama team has nothing else so anything to do with race, gender, scare tactics, etc… is all they have left. Also,Obama got binders full of Muslim Americans in the beginning of his term to find “qualified Muslims” to hire. They were obtained through the Chicago Sun Tribune. I’m also puzzled why NASA workers would be so pro-Obama. He cut off their funding for space exploration.

  • Macker

    NASA =
    Astronauts in
    Submission to

That is…when they’re not busy Submitting to Allah!

  • tsecoy

This is a clear violation of the Hatch Act. NASA’s IG needs to get involved.

  • Jack Deth

    Check the cafeterias!

The Muslim loving liberals are probably tainting the QuattroTritticali and softening minds. The higher ups in NASA have near always had a liberal bent. While its nuts and bolts, slide rule and computer, cubicle and hive drones are more conservative and lean right.

Not surprised though. This stinks of desperation and will no doubt, blow up badly in several union reps’ and stewards’ faces!

  • Supertx

    Occupy NASA??

  • $7465067

Sad to see how far NASA has fallen. It’s new mission: “to make Muslims feel good about themselves.” Just one more government agency packed with leftists.

  • yebbid

It would be too bad if everything “blew up” in their faces. Mmm, not really.

  • Tunes59

Looks like a violation of the Hatch Act. Where is the Justice Department? Where is the NASA IG? Federal employees publicly mention Romney in a positive way and the IG shows up with threats of Hatch Act violations.

  • Cosmo

I’m starting to think all these tweets are no accident. We’re supposed to believe that these rogue employees take over the twitter account, then get muzzled. Then the organization says that the tweets don’t represent them, blah, blah, blah. Seems to me that these are sanctioned by the organization and the disclaimer is just for show. Let’s cut their funding too!

  • driveswift

That article it retweeted wasn’t far left, it was Romney on TAPE advising employers to tell employees they’d probably be fired if they don’t vote for Romney. Anti-American activity from the least Republican candidate we’ve ever run. Ugh.

    • GaryTheBrave

The source is Think Progress. Creative editing alert.

      • Timothy Noonan

As are all ideological blogs, this one very much included.

    • Jules

You didn’t even read the quote.

  • tony greene

    down spot

  • Flinhir

Maybe someone at NASA JPL should actually be working rather than tweeting Anti-Romney propaganda. Next excuse: Our account was hacked!

  • This is why big govt is bad

Shouldn’t they be busy recognizing the signficant contributions of the muslim world?

  • shane hudson

Didn’t Obama kill the nasa program???

    • Timothy Noonan

Read Neil de Grasse Tyson’s book, Space Chronicles, he outlines how and why NASA was built up and whittled down over the last 50 years. A travesty that we have allowed NASA, and all science programs, to decay.

  • TwpMom

    Someone needs to get fired.

  • Guest

How do we know that the person who tweeted the apology isn’t the same person who retweeted that binder garbage? Not to mention, Why are liberals talking about binders?? It doesn’t even make sense!

    • Tera Blair Kirk

It was a comment made by Romney in this past debate, he said he sought to employ women in his cabinet as Senator and some women’s groups provided him with “binders full of women (applicants)”
It’s a seriously stupid take on what he said, they are just after attention.

      • Guest

Thanks Tera. I seen the debate, but how they think this is funny or an issue – I don’t understand. haha

  • Guest

Is Hilary in charge of their security also?

  • Tom Creamer«

One has to wonder just how many other moronic ObamaStepfords are sitting at the consoles?

  • Chip

All that money to send a rover to Mars just to see what really happens to a planet after liberals take over….. makes sense now.

    • Tera Blair Kirk

  • It’s just me again

The more disturbing issue is that @NASAJPL is following a political group, ANY political group should be off limits, other than maybe the White House.

  • jkendal

The ‘twits’ who tweeted this cr@p should lose their jobs!!

  • Ken McPherson

JPL is still following Emily Lakdawalla, but not Jessica Valenti.

  • Tera Blair Kirk

“Please keep the politics out of science.” says one tweet response…….. since when has politics loosened it’s grip on science? They are embroiled in battle on a constant basis.

  • Ken Watkins

NASA we expect ‘HIGHER” things from you!

  • News Reporter

I don’t believe they were hacked for one second. I fully believe someone at NASA was involved in those Tweets. All of this can be traced through IP addresses. NASA and Twitter, please release the IP addresses.

  • RW Reagan

Obama did say he wanted NASA to become an outreach group to muslims. Should we be surprised they have hacktivists/terrorists working there?

  • Timothy Noonan

Folks the problems with NASA are not what they retweet and who they follow….

It is “We Stopped Dreaming” and this was eloquently spoken in the following videos by Neil deGrasse Tyson

“We went to the moon and discovered Earth….For the first time.”

  • Mike Cornelison

Not very smart that folks at NASA would be shilling for Obama when Obama had $831 billion in stimulus to hand out and not a single dime or an inspiring dream for new exploration in space. (Fits his profile as a person who despises American Exceptionalism.)

We have to hitch a ride with the commies just to get into LEO. Awesome. Gee thanks, Obama! HOPE. CHANGE.
