MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: Romney challenging Obama is totally unconstitutional

Wait, what? Has Chris Matthews’ “tingle” moved up his leg and into his brain? These tweets from Chris Matthews already made that case.

Didn’t he get Michelle Obama’s memo? President Obama never lays blame or points fingers!

Bless your heart, Chris. Further proof of tingling entering the brain occurred last night, when the MSNBC host said that challenging Obama during a debate is totally unconstitutional.

That nefarious Romney! Running willy-nilly all over The Constitution by … speaking during a debate. How dare he? Doesn’t he know that The Constitution says that no one must dare question The One?

More from The Examiner:

ROMNEY: How much did you cut them by?

OBAMA: I’m happy to answer the question.

ROMNEY: All right. And it is — I don’t think anyone really believes that you’re a person who’s going to be pushing for oil and gas and coal. [Gestures.] You’ll get your chance in a moment. I’m still speaking.

OBAMA: Well –

ROMNEY: And the answer is I don’t believe people think that`s the case because –

ROMNEY: — that wasn’t the question.

ROMNEY: That was a statement.

After the clip ended, Matthews seemed appalled. “I don’t think [Romney] understands the Constitution of the United States,” Matthews said. “He’s the president of the United States. You don’t say, ‘You’ll get your chance.’”

What? No one dare speak in the presence of Dear Leader! He, and fellow noted Constitutional expert, James Lipton, then fretted and wrung hands over how rude Romney was. By not paying the proper deference to Obama and “looking down on him as a person.” Good grief! Did they scrawl entries about meany pants Romney in their tear-stained diaries?

Twitter users had a little something to say about that, natch.

Simpleton is kind. Hey, Chris, a village called and it wants its idiot back. Kindly arrange. And while you are at it, seek help.

  • Josephine (D)

Understanding the government is hard for liberals.

    • Keith

Yet they want more and more of it, which I guess further proves they don’t understand the gov’t or the constitution.

    • Will P.

Understanding the government is easy for liberals, understanding the LIMITS of government is nearly impossible for liberals.

      • Elaine

I don’t know, somehow they still believe that ALL that TAX MONEY is theirs to GIVE out and SPEND and WASTE. They work for US and that’s OUR OWN MONEY! Morons.

    • somercet

They understand govt. Law is their problem word.

      • Kate

Also “ethics” and “morals.” They have a problem with those, too.

      • Kate

Also “ethics” and “morals.” They have a problem with those, too.

    • reneehaigh

hats because the language doesn’t read: see dick run: see jane run: see spot run!!! put it into those terms and they can understand it then : their thinking is like that of a 2 year old and it fits the way biden carried on during the vp debate!!

      • MJ Ramberg

Yes, remember Ezra Klein told us the Constitution is old, and full of strange words. You can’t expect those words to apply to today’s high-tech fast-paced world. You need new words like “Obama”, “Hope”, & “Change” Those old words on that old paper are just too hard to understand these days…

    • Linda Wagman

They are however, really good at creating government.

      • Bob Edwards

  • Tiffini

I agree with the tweets above, how is this man still allowed on the air. Geez.

    • Christian Collins

Simple…failure in the Democrat party is cause for career advancement.

    • Kevin Krom

It’s MSNBC — competence is not a prerequisite, only blind obedience to the DNC talking points of the day.

And Chrissy has “blind obedience” down to a “T”.

      • GaryTheBrave

        Um…there isn’t a T in “blind obedience.” /snark

Sorry, just having a little fun.

        • Kevin Krom

We’re sorry, but this is not in approved fact-checking form, which requires an all-caps “FACT:” to prove that it indeed is an actual fact, e.g.:

FACT: There is no “T” in “blind obedience”

We thank you in advance for future adherence to this fact-checking standard.

      • orringtonmom (D)

competence would probably get you fired…

    • papertiger0

the sad thing is once Romney is elected Chris Matthews will get a bump in ratings, slaggin the administration, spinning the rise in household income, pooh poohing increased productivity, increased work force participation, and drop in unemployment.

  • Ingrid Cherry

Has Tweety McTingles had a stroke?

    • Bonnie Long

      good one!! lol

  • JGMZ

One more explanation for why Chris Matthews tanked on Jeopardy. The man really needs to take a very long vacation.

    • David

A permanent hiatus for Chris from America is in order.

      • HappyHarriet

And one for Candy Crowley as well, please.

        • Rabble Rouser

Lets boycott all the actors that think they are so special and know better than the common people.

    • Matt Robinson

he is senile, there is only one explanation. he wasnt this bad in the past, in fact he was a really good journalist. he fell in love with the lies though, and cant seem to flip the light switch to “on” and exit the dark

      • JGMZ

I know. Before I got Fox News on my cable (back in the 2000 election) I used to watch Chris all the time. He wasn’t this bad during the Gore recount debacle and I always thought he was a little left, but nothing like he is today. I think Olbermann’s success on MSNBC made him think that being a moonbat was the way to go.

      • TitzyFritzensimmons

Wet brain, not senility. Maybe that “tingle” up his leg was actually “Jakeleg.”

  • Marks2Cents

This may be the most magnificent irony of the year.

    • Garth Haycock

I don’t know if it’s irony because we expect Matthews to be that stupid.

  • pairadimes

What is the over/under on how long Chris Matthews continues to be seen on television? Not only has he lost the plot in a big way, but he is now knocking on the door to dementia.

    • Zane Henry

I think we should be laying odds as to how long after Obama’s defeat Matthews pulls an R. Budd Dwyer on national television.

      • Don odom

I had to google that. As much as Matthews sickens me, I hope he doesn’t resort to that. Suicide is about the worst thing a family can be subjected to.

      • Garth Haycock

That is cold. But I can’t stop laughing.

  • ObamaPelosi

Obama doesn’t know what is in the constitution. He wants to get rid of it!

    • Steven Feil

He KNOWS what is in it is EXACTLY why he wants to get rid of it.

  • J.N. Ashby

I think Chris Matthews misinterpreted the Constitution. It’s not a declaration of your rights. It’s a treatise on the limited rights of the government (i.e. the government can ONLY do these things, much to the government’s chagrin). The people can do whatever they want unless it’s explicitly limited, which the first amendment says it isn’t. That said, it goes without saying that Chris is a horse’s ass.

Edit: Princess Bride reference: You keep using this word, “unconstitutional,” I do not think you know what it means…

    • JRu4Life

Excellent. That made me laugh – esp. the Princess Bride reference.

    • StupidDogOfADog

Candy Crowley said in fact: “it is in the constitution”. There you have it, argument over. Move on, nothing to see here!

    • Brian MacGregor White

Hello! My name is Mitt-ia Romney! You’re killing our country, prepare to lose!

  • Kevin Krom

Chrissy must be referring the the liberal fantasy constitution, which outlaws any form of dissent from the party line.

  • Garth Haycock

    The Constitutional Scholar.

That would be Chris Matthews superhero name. Stan Lee needs to jump on this quickly.

  • James Atkins

What is going to be the best thing in the world (well, close to the best), is watching MSNBC call the election for Mitt Romney on Nov. 6th. I would PAY to watch that.

    • Steve Fox

I bet a hundred bucks he cries on live TV when it happens..I have heard him more than once ask an interviewee to retract a statement because they referred to the president’s lies. thats funny to watch. and to remember how MSNBC treated GWB.

      • Jazzee

oh no boo hoo wouldn’t that be a hoot to watch

    • JohnnyL53

Actually, the only thing better than that is a Romney landslide that is apparent as soon as they start posting results and watching Chris and company have to sit there for hours reporting on a foregone conclusion.

    • TitzyFritzensimmons

From your lips to God’s ears!

    • Jazzee

      YOU and me both

  • grais

Maybe he was talking about his own delicate constitution.

  • Marcy Cook

    SMH…you just can’t make this stuff up…..

  • Marcy Cook

Hey Chris….The Constitution isn’t one of those “we have to pass it to see what’s in it” thingies…We know what’s in the Constitution – the question is…Do You?

  • orringtonmom (D)

oh, man… “toady douchecanoe” totally made me LOL! still laughing… it is now part of my vocabulary.

    • NRPax

Agreed. I shall file “douchcanoe” just before “douchehammer” in my list of insults.

    • Melody Canterberry

I am so stealing that word. Now I just need a place to use it. Fortunately, with all the libtards to choose from, I don’t have to look too far.

    • Frank DiSalle

I’m still laughing. Of course, Urban Dictionary comes through ::

      douche canoe

Not just your run of the mill douche. A total
douche! This douche will kill you with his non stop douche baggery.
Avoid the douche Canoe at all costs.

    • Bob Edwards

i also thought the toady douchecanoe was a great line

  • William J. Miller

In that forum, Pres. Obama is just a candidate, just like Gov. Romney. They are equal in stature.
Saying that, even if he was in the official position of President at that time, it still would not be unconstitutional.
    Nice try, Tingles.

  • Marty Luther

I hope he can get 16trillion for it

  • Todd Hill

It seems like Chris Matthews is advocating (by implication) for the return of the Sedition act. Perhaps he’ll want it to remain in effect until the day before Obama’s term expires next January…

  • eztalk

    Matthews is certifiable.

  • Jack Deth

    “A swing!…… And a miss!!”

Thanks for playing. Better luck next time!

  • Stupid Republic

    Memo to Tingles:

The Constitution calls for three co-equal branches, of which the Executive branch is headed up by a President. Not a single mention anywhere of a King. Nor an Emperor. Nor Il Duce, Field Marshal, Generalissimo, Glorious Leader of the Revolution or any other grandiose title common among third world failed states.

    • Brent Guthrie

Obama will accept Comrade der Fuehrer.

      • Darth_Venomous

In the Rottie neighborhood, we prefer “Il Douche”. :-)

        • orringtonmom (D)

          ll DoucheCANOE

    • Guest

o we have an Il Douche

  • JTwig

This cracks me up! Now I could understand making the arguement that he was disrespectful towards the office of the President…..if they weren’t in a debate. A debate is meant to be confrintational. Can you imagine what a Presidental debate would look like if it was illegal to argue with a sitting President!
I would also like to point out that if being disrespectful to a President is unconstitutional, then their are a lot of lefties that should be wanted for crimes committed during Bush’s Presidency.

  • Grumpa Grumpus

We now have proof Mr.No-Balls,(softballs, nerfballs, smurf-balls…) is a refugee from an alternate dimension…

Anyone else would disappear w/embarrassment after making such a blindingly, gargantuanly, stupendously, mortifyingly stupid statement!

The humans in his dimension must not be capable of self-assessment, embarrassment, intellectual understanding, or cognative processes in general.

    Or their constitution says that.

    I’m glad ours is better!

    • Steven Feil

The serious problem is the 47% will hear his comments and say, “Yeah, what is up with him violating the constitution?”
They do not teach the constitution any longer, NOTHING.

      • Ritchie The Riveter

No worries about them hearing his comments … seen MSNBC’s ratings lately?

  • innereye

At this point it might be really hard to stop teamO ball rolling down and down. And desperate Chris Mathews is kicking that ball even further down. It’s hard to face the facts, when they don’t fit his agenda.

  • Scruffy

Maybe Matthews is quoting from the super secret constitution that Obama and company want to replace the existing U.S. Constitution with.

    • SAndrews

The libs (or progressives or whatever they’re calling themselves these days) have always thought The Constitution should ‘evolve’. They’ve just never told us what it should have evolved into. I’m sure he was referencing the 666th amendment from their version – “Debate Decorum for Democratic Incumbents”.

  • papertiguer

seriously worried about old Chris – could be porphyria

  • drbob456x

You expected, maybe, coherent thought from Tip O’Neill’s puppy?

  • CarolK

These comments and the tweets on #ObamaLoveSongs are hilarious! Couldn’t tear myself away from reading them even tho i had to get up early today…obviously there are a lotta bright people who are conservatives. Hey! Maybe that’s because conservatives actually have read the Constitution! 😀

  • blueblood12

Chris just loves getting those tickles up his leg? Maybe he should see a doctor this time…It might be serious!

  • Gmama

Hmmm, I don’t remember the “king” part of the constitution? I guess I didn’t attend public school.

  • dave lewis

I guess Mr Matthews believes in a monarchy like in Dune.

Obama == Baron Harkonnen works for me.

  • Dan Kennedy

I expect to hear the president’s voice at the end of his reports saying: “I’m Barack Obama, and I approved this message.”

  • Nedarc

The only thing I find here that is ‘Unconstitutional’ is you Chris not being ‘Aborted’ as an unviable tissue mass, as you Lib’s Love to call it.

  • somercet

    • TocksNedlog

I will have you know that Chris Matthews has NEVER wasted a single drop of carbon!!!

      Or bourbon.

  • Ben Monroe

“TOADY DOUCHECANOE”? Oh my God, I nearly lost it right there, and I’m in my school library. I’ve heard of ‘douche bag’, ‘douche lick’, ‘douche nozzle’ and ‘douche rocket’, but ‘douche canoe’ is one I’ll remember till the day I die.

    • Corey Dennison

Even better than the arcane yet effective “douchecicle”

  • frank5ngls

Thats what they say in China and North Korea too!

  • GoSellCrazySomeplaceElse

Is the new “Communist Constitution” out? I must run and get one.

  • PJRodman

I wonder when Obama will start referring to himself as the Royal “We”? Of course that may not be the ultimate goal…being stoned for Blasphemy may be the punishment desired by Matthews for “unconstitutional” questioning of His Immaculateness.

  • Robert Hersh

Chris Matthews has no business being on TV where he might corrupt the mind of an unknowing child flipping through the channels. Leave it on sponge Bob, he has much more to offer. Believe me!

  • TocksNedlog

The only surprising thing about this is that Matthews didn’t accuse Romney of interrupting the President because he’s black. Fear not, though, ’cause it’s early in the day and Touré — after he wakes from his weed stupor — will surely come along to pick up that slack.

    • r_coplin2001

Where does MSNBC get people like Ed Shultz,Toure,Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews from an insane asylum as i think they are all crazy.

      • TocksNedlog

Keep an eye on Lawrence O’Donnell. Within a week of the election he WILL go on a virulent anti-Mormon rant — guaranteed.

      • lainer51

They came from the TV show American Horror Story… that is in the setting of an asylum..

      • Oskee

        MSNBC is the asylum Robert.

      • Oskee

        MSNBC is the asylum Robert.

  • RioSam

1.03 Trillion spent on 83 welfare programs in 2011. NOT including Social Security, Medicare or Veterans benefits…now THAT is unconstitutional!!

  • David

Those darn facts that Mr. Romney presents are very confusing for democrats, liberals, progressives and their boy-king Obama.

  • flyboy

Tingles wouldn’t know what is or what is not in the Constitution if it were read to him word for word. He’s a complete lunatic libtard that is incapable of decoding complex information that does not channel through his emotionally wired libtard brain.

  • RebeccaH

Actually, the most impressive tweet for me is Slone’s for “toady douchecanoe”.

  • Belial Issimo

A Prince, whose Character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Ruler of a free People.

  • Socal71

Hardball is the equivalent of me yelling out of my window… no one listening or in his case watching. He should be happy to have Romney win, it will keep him employed another 4-8 years.

  • Danny Wheeler

Yeah, I guess Tingle Time Chris is having withdrawal symptoms and needs more Kool-Aid!

  • G.C. Bishop

He must be thinking of the communist constitution

  • r_coplin2001

I like Chris Matthews to show where in the United States Constitution that can back up his statement?

  • CalCon10

So, Chrissy Mathews: you’re saying (?) Mitt was supposed to drop to bended knee, and say, “As Your Excellency wishes.”

  • Owen007

At what point will Matthews start wearing a brown shirt and opening every show with a certain arm raise?

Beyond the ridiculously stupid leap in logic that the Constitution somehow prevents someone from talking back to the President, let’s not forget that it was a debate. Fun fact: interruptions and challenges happen at a debate.

  • afvet4america

Don’t panic Chris Matthews dumped a load from his brain when it blew up at the last debate he surely hasn’t recovered. The tingle has gone to his mouth! I hope when I’m his age I don’t whine like that.

Americans if ROMNEY is publicly disrespectful to the PRESIDENT, what makes you believe he’s going to RESPECT you?

    • Corey Dennison

Because Obama has shown ZERO respect to us for the last forur years. And all things being equal…I’ll vote for the guy who’s not a Marxist, thanks.

    • marcellucci

Romney, and you, for that matter, are private citizens.
      O’Bama is a public servant…….we rule them…..
Public servants need to humble themselves to us and earn any bit of respect we feel like throwing their way……

“We rule them” Mitt Romney, that you?
The Commander in Chief is given respect by patriotic Americans.

        • Todd Hill

Yeah, right… A new precedent was established after 9/11/2001 where the president of the US was open to ridicule and bashing (see the endless examples of Bush bashing while he was in office for further details). Questioning the president in such a way was considered patriotic back then, right Nancy Pelosi?

        • marcellucci

          Is that you, François Hollande….?

          • GEORGE_W_TUSH

            Sara Palin, that you..?

        • BDGator

Ummm no, the OFFICE of the Presidency is afforded respect. The man (or woman) in the office must EARN personal respect. And trying to intimate that somehow it is unpatriotic to question our leaders or to demand that they earn our respect, is simply moronic.

    • Richard Jefferies

Ohhhh, you mean the way everyone on the left was SOOOO respectful of President Bush, right?

      • Lilybelle Brown

    • Rabble Rouser

Romney was completely respectful of el presidentay. He never once called him out for being a low life douche canoe. In fact when he got to the point that he was going to point out that Barry was a complete liar, The fat pig moderator jumped in to save the day, Get over it Romney is going to win.
Also Respect is something you earn you don’t get it because you can buy a bunch of gold jewelry and teeth.

This is the only time of year I watch MSNBC. I have loved every meltdown, every stunned expression, every fearful smile – they are coming unhinged and it’s the best reality show on tv right now. Heck, I can’t wait until the finale on November 6!!

  • DANEgerus

if you watch MSNBC you can feel your IQ lower

I can’t make myself watch that lunatic Mathews.

  • Lovetorun2

Respect for the office is a given for most Americans…respect for the person holding the office is a totally different story.

  • Brian P.T. Blake

Mathews is pathetic, a joke. “Pravada” has openings for ignorant peasants like Chris. Dress him in a fur hat and black boots, with red and gold epaulets on the shoulders of his double-breasted great coat, and send him to review the troops goose-stepping in front of the Kremlin on May 1st.

  • Red Fred

    What a dullard.

  • LightSabre

I think it’s almost time where you’ll see Chris have his Robert Duvall moment, that is, he’ll be wearing a straight jacket being hauled off in a jeep.

  • bruce mercer

you mean the 1st amendment does not apply to romney?

    • $5326605

Not according to Little Prissy Tingles, who has disparaged GW bush for almost 12 years now.

  • TonyMitch

Matthews i would swear having your head up a presidents ass was unconstitutional as well.

    • $5326605

Obama needs to install a plexiglass viewing port in his naval, so Little Prissy Tingles can see the world with his head so far up Barry’s keister.

This clown wouldn’t know what was in the constitution if it hit him in his round pumpkin head…
How does he still have a job, with all that spitting he does into the camera?

  • Bobby E. Simmons

Do you mean Chris matthews is still running around loose . Put him back in the mental ward. He might start thinking clearly.

  • Brett McMicken

just waiting for chris’s “heeere’s johnny!” moment (from the shining) to begin

  • Buckshot LeFonque

    Chris is a fart in a skillet…

  • PincheMexico

C Mathews would fit right in on a permanent visit to North Korea. Have him start with a few years at Camp 14. There is a government where you don’t question the Great Leader, or have a dirty picture of him and his dad and grandpa, or take pictures of his statues in an unflattering way….. My god, is this guy for real????? Honestly! This has to be a F’n joke!!

  • Kelly England McDonald

Chris Matthews is either on some heavy-duty pharmaceuticals, prescription or otherwise OR has a brain anomaly!!!! Chris get some drug counseling or an MRI!!!! Chris you are definitely NOT right in the head!!!!!

  • Lesia Youngblood

Someone need to have Mr. Matthews committed….he has totally lost it.

  • brian kemp

Ms Malkin, Not that Romney isn’t doing a great job, he is totally dismantling Obama’s agenda piece by piece. What makes it worse is his entranced followers help him by divulging Obama’s hidden agenda at every turn. I cheer them on when I see them making speeches at rallies or when addressing the nation. Now, when Mr. Romney, our next president, said “i’m still speaking”, everyone watching with a brain knew that a man who is capable of leading this country is now speaking. Romney stood his ground and let the nation know that the B/S ends here. Obama had no choice but to sit and listen. Bravo Mr. Romney !!!!!

  • Robert Loveless

Chris Matthews is a hack sleezeball.

  • Bob Edwards

@chris matthews does the constitution give you the right to have your tingling up the leg feeling?

  • Bob Edwards

wow King Obama is on ANOTHER TALK SHOW….THIS TIME HES ON stooge lettermans show WHEN DOES HE HAVE TIME TO RUN THE COUNTRY?

  • Green Energy

MSNBC seems to be a zoo for idiots.

  • Todd Amend

Who in their right mind listens to that blubbering ass kissing dumbass or for that matter anyone from that trash channel mnbc. If you do your head has to be full of bullshit, that’s all they shovel. They would’t know how to report the real news and real facts.

  • Bob Edwards

can you believe Oclown is trying to explain his case on Letterman with no opposition because he got his ass handed to him twice in debates what an ass clown

  • Mike Haskins

Personally I think November 6th will be Chris’s Last day on TV, as they announce that Mitt Romney will be our next President they will be dragging him out of the studio kicking and screaming in his little white “I love me” jacket

  • Nothing2seehere

Chris, You mean the constitution O keeps stepping on?

  • Bill Bradham

Strange. This reminds me of Chris Crocker saying, “You leave Britney alone!”

  • RSF1

Don’t believe Matthews has ever READ the U.S. Constitution. Too distracted by the tingles going up his leg!

  • Guest

The statement he really meant was, We are the Media and we do not place any bad light on Obama.

  • Guest

The statement he really meant was:
We are the Media and we do not place any bad light on Obama so why should anyone challenge him on anything. Just keep it quiet forever and see if anything happens.

  • Nonya

The statement he really meant was:
We are the Media and we do not place any bad light on Obama so how dare anyone challenge him on anything. Just keep it quiet forever and see if anything happens.

  • Anna E

LOL … that’s hilarious. The constitution forbids people from challenging the President ?… No, Chris, the Constitution exists to give people the power to do just that.

  • Jazzee

chrissy is sooooo unprofessional and clueless
now he cares about the Constitution??? which has nothing to do with telling obama to answer a question
golly chrissy you really are stupid

  • Richard Carpenter

Chris Mathews and the rest of the gang at that channel are fanatics. They have a lot of nerve talking about the Republicans and and the Right.. They are hell bent and will do whatever it takes to win… Isn’t that the Democratic party way?

  • Karry Foster

That reminds me of the teacher that went nuts of a student saying he didn’t like Obama. The teacher screamed for 3 minutess about how he could be arrested for saying anything bad about Obama.

  • Wulfheard

Mathews is off his rails, again! He is an example of how you can’t fix stupid. The is as clueless as the day is long and no matter how big of an ass he makes of him self, he just can’t seem to shut his big fat ignorant mouth. He’s more like an obnoxious party clown than a journalist.

Did I hear the President saying last night that he gave Tingle’s leg a stroke? I bet Chris was twitching like a puppy having his tummy rubbed…
