We’re not worried about Big Bird’s future as much as we are the future of that other PBS fixture. Jim Lehrer’s phone won’t be ringing anytime soon with another offer to moderate a debate. Liberals in particular seemed to have counted on the usually reliable Lehrer to act as their surrogate on stage, but even Obama’s deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter admitted that Mitt Romney was steering the ship Wednesday night.
I feel badly for Jim Lehrer tonight.—

Even those not counting on Lehrer to sway the outcome were wondering if an empty chair would have been a step up.
The loser of this debate is Jim Lehrer. Dude is like a meek substitute teacher trying to break up a brawl in the lunchroom.—
