Game change? Even liberals admitting Obama against the ropes in first debate

Here’s something you probably didn’t expect to see during tonight’s debate — consistently leftist celebrities and journalists wishing their president had some Greek columns to hide behind rather than a podium, where he appeared to be struggling against Mitt Romney.

Alec Baldwin had sworn off Twitter for a while, but he’s back, and he’s not happy.

Andrew Sullivan’s live tweet of the debate is perhaps the best chronicle of liberal disappointment out there.

  • RblDiver

Wow, when even Tingles says “What was Romney doing tonight? He was winning!” you know that Obama is screwed.

    • TugboatPhil

Tingles will have to console himself by imagining Bill Clinton procreating with Martians.

      • Brett McMicken

        thought bill already did that

      • jeffunde

Now, that is funny and pretty disgusting at the same time!

  • Rafael Eduardo Peña-Rios Riber

    ladies and gentlemen:
    The beginning, of the end.
    I’ll get the champagne

    • BeautifulAmerica

      Love it!

    • MileHighinAZ

Save a glass for me, Rafael. Cruising the lib news sites & Twitchy reports, the libs are whining that the only reason O biffed it so badly is because Mitt lied. Do these people not realize that rushing to defend their dearly beloved Leader with that excuse, reveals volumes about his character?

      • SammFan

It also reveals that they’ve been “smoking their own weed” in regards to what they believed Romney’s message was. After reviewing MANY sites, posts, my sincere belief is that many didn’t know what Romney’s positions were – either misinformed or didn’t care to know – so they assumed the ones they heard – that made sense tonight – were new and/or lies. I seriously think many don’t realize his 59 point plan has been up for many months.

        • scorp13d

Not what they have heard, rather what they have made up: LIES

        • Gil Jo San

O probably smoked before he went up there or maybe even snort a little…. He is a liar and fake!

    • pragmatic

don’t start partying until Jan 20. this cretin can do a whole lot of damage before then.

      • GaryTheBrave

Actually it’ll be January 21st. The 20th is a Sunday. That;s right, folks. The Choomster gets an extra day to screw up the country and Mitt will have one day less to make it right.

        • Jamie Myers

Read the 20th Amendment to the US Constitution. No allowance made for Sundays. President Romney’s term begins on the 20th of January at noon. With or without the oaqth of office (a formality, irrespective of the beginning and ending of authority).

          • GaryTheBrave

All Sundays are considered Federal holidays just in case some event that is normally scheduled for a particular date falls on a Sunday. I am not certain if it also applies to Saturdays but possibly.

BTW, the oath is not a mere formality. It is actually a legal concept that makes an office-holder to be legally bound to their actions in office.

        • Jamie Myers

Please cite a source for your claim that the inauguration will not be as prescribed by the 20th Amendment to the US Constitution. No allowance is made for Sundays. President Romney’s term begins on the 20th of January at noon.

    • boba2869

I wouldn’t pop the champagne just yet, but maybe put it on ice.

    • John Hanover

Just take the champagne away from the Towers to either side of that KO’d clown in between them.

  • marcellucci

O’Bama sounded like Ralph Kramden when Alice caught him in a lie……..
Too bad for Brrrack that Ed Norton was nowhere to be found……

Patton Oswalt is always funny, even if I hate his political leanings. #GalagaReference

    • Son of Kochthulu

Yeah, I chuckled at that one too. He really is a funny guy. Wish he wasn’t so stuck in the left mindset.

  • Brenda Hellwig

Does anyone else think that Obama wants to lose the election? When this country goes over the fiscal cliff into Dante’s Inferno, it won’t be Obama in the hot seat and I doubt anyone will accept “The other dude did it” defense that Obama has used for the last 4 years.

    • louisiana_mom

I have thought that since he made the comment – “You didn’t build that” But it’s like the MSM have been pushing his campaign forward without him.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Well yeah, but at least in Romney’s case, when he blames Obama, at least he’ll be telling the truth.

  • JoH113

I bet Obama’s running full tilt to sob in TOTUS’s arms, just about now…

    • BeautifulAmerica

Are you kidding? She’s wacking him with her broom.

  • kch50428

The MSNBC set is going to need some upholstery cleaned…

  • Robert

That was such as ass kicking I’m afraid Obama is going to bite Romney’s ear off

  • J. Cox

This is what happens when Mitt takes off the gloves and walks the American people through a real plan and explaining how things actually get done vs.—-the last 4 years of do nothingness.

  • SAndrews

I think Chris Matthews’ tingle has moved to his left arm.

    • PennyRobinsonFanClub

Hahaha! Cruel but funniest comment yet. In fact

      /Thread over.

    • QuickChick15

Can I like this twice …. or more?

    • Jerry Koszut

Well, he was having a coronary festival from what I could see.

  • Tony0920

    1. Obama’s entire debate was taken out of context. 2.Romney just plain killed. you be the judge.

  • marcellucci

    Ropes….that’s racist….isn’t it?

  • John Fowler

Luckily, there were paramedics offstage to handle Obama’s bruised ego.

  • Wishsong

And this should have been Obama’s strong debate. He’s really going to get thumped once they start talking about foreign policy.

    • Maria

      I just can’t wait!!

    • Ernie Prigge

By then his cronies will have figured out how to implant a hearing aide so they can tell him what to say.

      • Gil Jo San

He probably have 3 implants last night and was confused which one to listen to!

    • Eric Ellis

Yep, that one should be fun!

  • Eric Eikenberry

More popcorn, Grommitt! This election cycle just got GOOD!

  • vetgal1970

Next year they will be celebrating their anniversary as former president and first lady.

    • BeautifulAmerica

      In Ft. Leavenworth visiting room.

    • Ernie Prigge

Too bad the taxpayer has to support them forever after.

      • vetgal1970

Maybe we can do one of his tricks, tweak the law and make it retroactive. Or hide it in the healthcare repeal language

  • Michael Alvear

Am I the only one who is marginally giddy anticipating the Veep debate?

    • Cristine Kobak

I am living for that ….

      • renagle

I am 8hrs ahead of CDT and not only will I be up at 3 or 4 am like tonight (whenever it starts EET), but will have made popcorn and have beer because it is going to be the most entertaining debate in the history of debates watching Slo-Joe sputtering while Ryan runs circles around him. May have to get my husband to take the kids to school because it’ll be a party in my living room. haha

        • Sue B

I too am 8 hours ahead of EST, but today’s debate was worth every second of lost sleep! And I will be up with bells on for the Veep debates. I cannot wait to see Paul Ryan mop the floor with Joe the Boob Biden!

    • Corey Dennison

It’s going to be like Mike Tyson vs Woody Allen…and Biden’s wearing the glasses!

    • JoH113

      Marginally? lol What an understatement!

    • Ernie Prigge

One things for sure, Biden is no Jack Kennedy. But he surely is a dumb A.

    • GOPcongress

Martha Raddatz is SUDDENLY the Biggest Spot…she can NOT pull another Lehrer wimp performance…this WILL be fun…

    • ScottSCRIBEPratt

No, I am looking forward to that one as well!!

    • Shawn Smith

That will be hilarious. Biden will end up with his foot so far down his throat his shoe will be digesting.

  • Evi L. Bloggerlady

Romney won Debate One. Even Andrew Sullivan is crying. Schadenfreude.

    • Robert

He’s gay. He cries when the sun comes up. But that doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying it.

      • Evi L. Bloggerlady

Well yeah, but even Rachel Maddow is crying.

  • orringtonmom (D)

i couldn’t follow Obama most of the time. at one point it seemed he was using the arguments made against obamacare to discredit what romney did in MA and then discredited the arguments to support Obamacare… there were times that he seemed to make romney’s case for him. i honestly didn’t think Obama would look as uncomfortable and unhappy to be there as he was. wow.

    • BeautifulAmerica

No one could follow him. He has nothing to say as all his energy’s been spent partying for the last 25 years and pandering to his Saudi Arabian prince.

  • KateNE

My favorite part – “I’ve been in business for 25 years and I have no idea what you are talking about.” Oh my. So. Awesome.

    • twolaneflash

I liked the pathetic Obama rejoinder when he lost a point badly: “Arithmetic”. That was funny, I don’t care who you are.

      • SammFan

Tragically, his struggles really are with the math. I’m not sure this is the right way to describe it but I really think O’s understanding of tax revenues is limited to Algebra (% rate times tax base) versus Calculus (area under the curve of changing base/rates). Basically, 2-dimensions vs 3. I really think O and many of his cult following don’t believe the tax “base” can/will change (?!?!)

        • scorp13d

have to raise taxes! They keep putting taxpayers out of work!

        • Rock

I wholeheartedly agree. Every time he says its about the math, he shows how he doesn’t understand the math – and almost every lib lives in this static, linear mindset. The can’t get it through their heads that if we put more people to work that we just might get more taxpayers.

      • Bill

Looked like the guy needed to phone a friend – maybe he could have phoned his Obamaphone friend.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Oh my gosh, yes. Awesome indeed.

  • louisiana_mom

Maybe, the Smartest Man in the Room should have spent yesterday preping instead of visiting Hoover Dam! Just like a juvenile thinking he could wing finals without studying! LMAO!

    • Ernie Prigge

Guess that’s what he learned to do from his communist profs at Harvard?

      • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Wasn’t that one of the things he’s learned as President? No? Oh…

  • Maria

Romney wiped the floor with Obuma!!!! It was beautiful!!

  • Jack Deth

Romney mopped the floor with Obama!

Romney was tanned, relaxed and rested. Very comfortable in his own skin. Yet adept enough to lay in some zingers on The Anointed One. Who frowned petulantly, was totally unprepared. Seemed to be shrinking in his suit and ugly tie while constantly seeking Lehrer to bail him out.

I guess Zero really can’t function without his Tele~Prompter!

    • vetgal1970

      Or his media shield

    • pragmatic

at least some of his syncophants are noticing how dependent upon TOTUS he really is. It was obvious four years ago to anyone paying attention.

  • JoH113

What was up with Obama looking down and smirking so much, anyway? Didn’t anyone tell him he was going to be on-camera *the whole time*?

    • Robert

      He’s a douchebag. He can’t help it.

    • louisiana_mom

He thought Mitt was going to be McCain-2, he wasn’t expecting to get his butt handed to him!

  • redheadgrl

The biggest thing I noticed is Mr. Obama looking down most of the time – wouldn’t look Mitt in the eye.

    • Ernie Prigge

That’s what a FX body language analyst said was a dead give-away for a lier. Plus the looking down and blinking a lot.

    • renagle

Me too. Noticed it right away. McCain did that too and it made him look like an ass (hated McCain. I voted for Sarah Palin). Loved it that Romney reminded Barry that he’s been President the last 4 years. haha

      • Jerry Koszut

I voted for her too, renagle. I will vote for her again I hope!

    • Aestro

Often that’s the candidate taking or looking at notes.

      • redheadgrl

He sure was taking a lot of notes and looking at them a lot. I guess he missed his teleprompter.

  • conservativechick

    Romney KICKED A$$!!!

  • BeautifulAmerica

Didja get a look at moochelle’s face as they (quickly) left? Gnashing of teeth. Shooing away with hands. Ha, ha.

    • Corey Dennison

Yup…someone’s sleeping on the couch tonite!

      • AmandaJeff Day

Doesn’t the doghouse have “BO” written above the door?

  • Chip

Smack down in D-town. KO Romney!!! “Happy anniversary honey.”

  • AmandaJeff Day

Questions for debates #2 and 3 are being re-written as we speak.

  • PuritanD71

Hmmmn, the left seems to be losing it. All the better! Wonder what will happen at the next round…..maybe Romney brings a mop with him

  • louisiana_mom

I love rereading the Left’s meltdown tweets! Maybe they will finally realize the emperor has no clothes!

  • Harry Myers

Someone really missed his teleprompter tonight.

  • Mateo!

Yeah, right. O seemed a little off tonight. Wait until debates 2 and 3 when it happens again! Can’t wait for the foreign policy questions! Political Playoffs season has begun and I’m having a blast!

  • renagle

The empty chair was reduced to kindling. Great debate!

    • WALTER7

I think obalenin got reduced to a used tire with several holes in it!

  • Ben Bollman

It is a good night to be conservative

  • Lyle E Long

you spent $90 billion on failed green energy that would have hired 2 million teachers

  • GOPcongress

RE Whoopie needing a joint: Maybe she and the girls can invite Eye Candy back and get the Shroom Gang started anew.

  • Guest

Obama gets gets his ass spanked in round 1 of the debates. If this was an MMA fight, round 1 would be 10-8 Romney, with BO outclassed in every way. Obama looked like a child who had his candy taken away, and wanted to take his toys and go home.

  • Rich Davie

  • Joseph Phillips

Stomped! Barry’s ego came shining through: i had five more seconds until you interrupted me… Obamacare. I like the sound of that… Hahaha.

  • CalCon10

Let’s not count our chickens just yet. It was a great night, but there’s still a loooong way to go.

    1. Breitbart reports that Obama is preparing a “Wag the Dog” attack on Libya as his “October Surprise.” Expect it right before the Foreign Policy Debate on the 17th. It might be just the excuse leftist “independents” who call themselves “strong on defense” need to return to Obama’s column.
    2. In 2004, Reagan was horrible in the first debate. He came back strong on the second one to seal the deal. Obama is no Reagan, but then, Reagan didn’t have a “Wag the Dog” ploy (see #1 above) or the MSM in his corner.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Regan in 84, or Bush in 04?

  • You fail, you’re fired!

Anyone else notice that Romney cleaned up after himself when done. He went back to his podium to get his notes while the Prez left his mess to be cleaned up by his handlers? At least the Prez is consistant whether its paper or debt, he leaves it for others to clean up. I’ll vote for the guy that can at least clean up after himself.

  • Owen007

What a lot of these dopes fail to realize is that Obama wasn’t off his game – he’s always been like this. When has Obama ever been a good public speaker? When? Even with a teleprompter, he still “uh”-ed his way on through. Off the teleprompter? “You-didn’t-build-that-the-private-sector’s-doing-fine-we-tried-our-plan-and-it-worked” nonsense. And don’t forget, Hillary repeatedly kicked Obama’s ass in the 2008 primary debates. Many of the same “looked uncomfortable” observations were made, then. His flaws got overlooked because (among other reasons) he was an unknown. Not anymore.

Obama’s the same thin-skinned weenie he’s always been. But let’s give a thanks to the MSM. Their inability to even try to do their jobs competently left Team Obama complacent and deluded that their guy could just walk on the stage to win. If Romney wins the election, I hope he thanks Tingles and company for weakening Obama.

  • Bianca

This is like a boxing,I love it cz its too funny conversation hehehehehe….

  • Maxwell

Hopefully now people will realize that Obama just isn’t cut out to be president.

  • Jim Harvey

How are we going to afford the cleanup of all the democrat suicides?

  • Garth Haycock

Romney swept the leg tonight. Not even Mr. Miyagi can heal it.

  • chatterbox365

The 90 billion comment was epic!!!
Romney said, “I’m all for green energy but you could have hired two million teachers with that money.”

  • Junior Samples

Lazy, affirmative action sham artist versus real mergers and acquisitions
business tycoon and church denomination leader. I’m surprised Barry doesn’t just accede
the race to Mitt and go retire in that $35 million dollar mansion in Hawaii.
    It’s done.

  • notadumbocrat

O’ cannot function without a teleprompter and this debate highlighted that fact. Romney looked Presidential while O’ looked mifted and befuddled.

  • tomincol

What a difference four years makes. The Left is on tilt, no more swooning and crying about “hope and change” and “yes we can”. Like Clint Eastwood said, “WE OWN IT”!

  • tingle007

If I were Romney i would point out that less people have insurance since obamacare passed not more. I will lose mine in 2014 as high deductible plans are illegal under it.

  • Paul C.

The wining on the left is deafening, even though the big ZER0 got an extra 5 minutes and was testy.

  • Lg

I couldn’t understand a word Obama was speaking of, whats that game called at the circus called when you have 3 cups and put a peanut under 1 of them and then mix them around and then pick one to see if the peanut just happens to be under it?

  • John Hanover

So delicious today’s special for the Hollywood Left and the MSM, humble pie. Instead of eating crumbs, cake and purple colored drinks.

  • CapitalistInfidel

Romney beat Obama as if he stole something….

  • GaryTheBrave

I have been thinking for a while now, after watching how Mitt operated during the primaries, that he was going to hold his fire until the debates started and he knew most people were paying attention. From this point on you will see Romney reveal his plans and bring the fire to Obama. All those who were wondering when he he was going to get on track will see him do so over the next month.

Obama used up all his ammo against Mitt and now has nothing to fire back. He will succumb to the withering fire. The Dems will wonder why they believed in him so much.

The only way, IMO, for Obama to win is cheating.

  • GaryTheBrave

BTW, does anyone know where is the troll that claimed that Obama already had the debate questions and was going to win all the debates?

  • Conservativeanarchist

Romney, expert businessman and humble man exposes arrogant media-hyped empty-suit whose lone accomplishments are rabble-rousing and making divisive racist speeches. The truth shall set us free!

  • dorothyviggiano

Best LINE: “You can have your own house and you can have your own plane, but you cant OWN those facts.”

  • Walker Bennett

Yea, it’s clear Romney won the debate but it doesn’t matter. The people that are going to vote for Obama are oblivious to reality anyway. If you could watch him in action for the last 4 years and still be willing to vote for him then watching him lose a debate isn’t going to change your opinion.

    • Jag Nation Expat

It will because not all potential Obama voters are like that. A lot of people don’t know anything about Romney except what they have been told by the media and Obama’s commercials. Now they will start to realize that they have been constantly lied to over the last year.

  • Susan D. Onem

    Don’t! Get! COCKY!!
There is nothing more dangerous than a beleagured democrat! Obama will be in “Democrat Douche” mode his next debate and the pundits will eat it up. This is just the first of three. Mitt threw his best punches, one would think. Obama will go full “47%” next time. Hopefully, Mitt is ready with a retort and he simply got to hold his return fire because Obama didn’t bring up all those things the MSM WISHED he had. Romney better be ready for vipers next debate.

  • Chariman Mow

Mmmmmm. Liberal tears are so so sweet. Nom nom nom nom.

  • SharpRightTurn

They finally saw what we’ve seen for the last 4 years in Obama! Tired, listless, uninformed.
Funny, though, how when it is clear Romney won the debate all they can do is call him a liar. The lies were smacked down last night…and it was Romney smacking down Obama’s lies!

  • DANEgerus

Every LibRule claims Romney lied… when? Yet Obama regurgitated long discredited lies like ‘keep your doctor’ and defended IBAP “Death Panels” that Democrats claimed didn’t exist.

  • RaggedyAnn46

When are the obamazombies gonna learn that without a teleprompter he is a blubbering idiot?

  • Rock

Romney was obviously being racist last night using all those facts.

  • Aoife Crane

When all these idiot libtards like Behar whine about Ojoke not taking on Romney’s lies, I wonder if it ever perhaps occurs to them that he can’t…because Romney isn’t lying.
