Obama throws Cairo embassy staff under bus, media continue to blame Romney for statement

Huh. Fancy that! The White House continues frantically trying to distance itself from the appalling statement and subsequent tweets made by the U.S. embassy in Cairo. Yet, members of the media are continuing to blame Romney. For making a statement about the statement. Up is down!

Yep. Please. Obama’s entire “smart diplomacy” is based upon appeasement and apologies. He continuously apologies for America. Now, however, he is throwing Cairo senior public affairs officer Larry Schwartz under the bus.

But Obama’s remarks belie the enormous frustration of top officials at the State Department and White House with the actions of the man behind the statement, Cairo senior public affairs officer Larry Schwartz, who wrote the release and oversees the embassy’s Twitter feed, according to a detailed account of the Tuesday’s events.

Yet, even The White House’s pitiful attempt to disavow the statements, and the exposure of the false narrative that they all occurred prior to the attack, doesn’t stop the ever absurd PolitiFact from continuing to try to place Romney in the wrong.

More from Breitbart’s Big Journalism:

So, what did Politifact have to say? They interviewed three “apology experts.” Seriously. First, they interviewed Professor John Murphy, of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, who said it wasn’t an apology because “the statement does not use the word ‘apology’ or ‘apologize’ and does not use any synonym for that word.” Second, they interviewed Lauren Bloom, “an attorney and business consultant who wrote The Art of the Apology.” What did she say? Romney’s “once again allowing his emotional allergy to apology to interfere with his judgment.” Finally, they interviewed Professor Rhoda E. Howard-Hassman, who said the statement was “not an apology.”

Oh, well. Apology experts! Case. Closed.

Yes, they did. The embassy’s statement may have been issued before the attack, but tweets from its official Twitter account came after the attack. As did the confirmation that they continued to stand by the statement, hours after the attack. Naturally, an attempted cover-up swiftly occurred as the embassy deleted the appalling tweets. Further, the embassy is continuing to irresponsibly tweet.

Little tip for the embassy: Twitchy is forever.

Obama continues to disavow the embassy’s statements.

More from The Examiner, reporting on an interview that President Obama gave to CBS last night.

“It didn’t come from me. It didn’t come from Secretary Clinton,” Obama said. “It came from folks on the ground who are potentially in danger. And my tendency is to cut those folks a little bit of slack when they’re in that circumstance rather than try to question their judgment from the comfort of a campaign office.”

Hmm. Wonder why?

Of course, even while Obama and his team are out frantically disavowing the statements, it’s still somehow Romney’s fault.

See, Romney answered the 3:00 a.m. call and called out appalling actions immediately. While Obama fiddled.

For that, he must pay. And there is coordination to make sure that he does, right media?

Im so disgusted with Obamas state dept and the main stream media MSM lapdogs that are little more then propagandists for the left. They abandoned all ethics and standards. This whole thing is just disgusting on the part of the MSM and Obama.

  • Streetiebird

The whole thing just proves that Romney doesn’t have the foreign policy experience necessary to be President. He put his foot in it bigtime by standing with the people who are trying to incite violence by creating the film that directly insults the Muslim faith and was meant to stir up trouble/violence.

Before Obama was able to respond to the attacks (which he did carefully and diplomatically in the morning) Romney went on the offensive and essentially defended the filmmakers who caused these riots and smeared Obama by claiming he “apologized” when that could not be further from the truth.

Romney: “I’m outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi. It’s disgraceful that the Obama administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”

    • Dio Heerai

Keep shoveling this crap nobody buys it just like “hope and change”. this was the liberal’s last stand . The public don’t see any filmmaker all they see is nutjob Muslims just like EVERY OTHER TIME. Know what else they saw, American Ambassador plus four murdered and dragged through the street and OBAMA WENT TO VEGAS to party, can you see the Karl Rove ads to come with unlimited financing .

      • Streetiebird

Romney doesn’t have a leg to stand on here. He completely ruined the opportunity to appear strong and steadfast in this situation by claiming that the Obama administration “apologized”. Romney chooses to take the side of the filmmakers who have caused this unrest.

    • Thom Harris

Shoveling this much sh*t from the Obama camp can be bad on the soul. Did he supply enough Kool-aid for you? Just be sure, Streetiebird, that he throws you under a fast moving bus when you are no longer useful to “The ONE” (brings death faster, and no liberal wants to live without the love of “The ONE”). One other note, the film is a piece of junk with the production value of the “New Normal”, but he has every right to do it as Obama has to publish his two lies…um books.

      • Streetiebird

Romney was wrong to attack our foreign policy before Obama could give his speech. Romney was wrong to throw gas on the fire of this situation. Romney was just wrong.

    • weRbroke

The truth hurts. The leadership chair is EMPTY and Ozone is in Never Never Land.

    • J. Cox

You are a complete and utter Moron.Who in the hell wrote that statement for you…because anyone who is dumb enough to believe that load of BS you just C+Ped from neverneverland could not form a actual sentence.Blame Romney? You have officially lost the 1% credibility you thought you had.Enjoy the kool-aide party fail troll.

      • Streetiebird

Romney was premature to attack the President BEFORE Obama made the official statement. Romney does not understand diplomacy or foreign policy and this proves it. We should stand as a united front against our foreign enemies, not appear to be attacked from behind by someone with about as much foreign policy cred as Pat Robertson. Romney appears out of touch and damaging when it comes to anything related to foreign policy. His entire trip abroad was one gaffe after another.

Did you hear how Romney has already screwed up our foreign relations with Russia? Putin made a statement about it the other day that you probably missed on your rightwing media.

  • Dio Heerai

The people will not remember all this crap the media is shoveling . Keep posting the pictures of the dead ambassador ,THAT’S what they will remember. Keep on posting video and pictures of the unrest THAT’S what they will remember .
Let the MSM portray some convoluted nuanced Romney conspiracy, let US convey CHAOS and AWOL Obama. That’s how we win this, I think we already have.

Obama’s State Department people in Washington and on the ground in Egypt need to get their act together and stop bickering. They are coming off as abject amateurs and it’s starting to actually scare me.

No, we need to boycott their advertisers. No one actually watches MSM channels, do they?

McLaughlin’s tweet sums up the situation perfectly. By the by, love how tragedy hasn’t deterred the daily operations of the Obama White House: “Something went wrong, so blame someone else.”

  • jim

wow the O-man took the time to tweet while our diplomats are being murdered abroad? He actually interrupted his campaign that long? Maybe there’s hope yet…no probably not

So, these supposed genius experts dismiss the premise that those who said they “firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others” are showing sympathy with/partiality to ‘victims’ of LEGAL expressions of thought/art that cause others’ emotional pain (which in this case ended up being some poor widdle Muslims whose feelings got hurted so bad that they had NO choice but to go on a murderous rampages!) i.e. those who laughably used the meaningless/Orwellian phrase, “abuse the universal right of free speech,” were NOT regretting/bemoaning that selfish, anti-Muslim filmmakers’ activities could/would “abuse” their ‘victims” oh-so-precious feelings/sensibilities? LOL

Migawd, Obama, his administration, and all of their whiny, pathetic, politically correct enablers are a mass of intellectually dishonest, definitionally challenged, emotionally underdeveloped brats who CANNOT handle/process the truth, they REALLY are…

Posted on other Twitchy also. Copied/pasted from Reuters headline:
U.S. embassies attacked in Yemen, Egypt after Libya envoy killed
In an attempt to discredit Romney for his statement made too soon, so-called news outlets are changing the course of events. If Cairo was AFTER Libya, how did Romney know about it so early and make a statement?. We all know how, Cairo happened BEFORE Libya… not after.

    • redheadgrl

and they are 6 time zones ahead of DC

  • LadyLNorth

Please don’t miss that Obama refers to himself as being at a “campaign office” when all this was unfolding. “And my tendency is to
cut folks a little bit of slack when they’re in that circumstance, rather
than try to question their judgment from the comfort of a campaign
office.” So was he hanging out at a campaign office while embassies were being attacked, or (more likely) does he now refer to the Oval Office as a “campaign office”?

  • http://www.facebook.com/mickey.byrd.12 Mickey Byrd

Copied and pasted from Obama/Steve Kroft Interview..
STEVE KROFT (from pre-recorded interview): Your opponent, Governor Romney, used the attack in Libya and also, the situation in Cairo yesterday, to attack your policies – to go after your foreign policy – in a fairly broad-based attack. What are your thoughts on that?

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: I think most Americans – Democrats or Republicans – understand that there are times where we set politics aside, and one of those is when we’ve got a direct threat to American personnel who are overseas. And so, you know, I think that if you look at how most Republicans have reacted – most elected officials – they’ve reacted responsibly, waiting to find out the facts before they talked; making sure that our number one priority is the safety and security of American personnel.

Notice what Obama said was his first priority (last sentence).

No one was pulled from the embassies… no additional security was provided. This display of desperation to act as if he was addressing the issue is embarrassing.
