Citizens exercise their freedom of speech, blast anti-American, anti-Christian UPenn prof Anthea Butler

As Twitchy reported this morning, University of Pennsylvania professor Anthea Butler embarked on a mind-bogglingly idiotic tirade in which she blamed the director of an anti-Islam film for yesterday’s atrocities in Egypt and Libya. Butler had tweeted about the importance of understanding that words have consequences, but she was clearly unable to face the consequences of her own words. Twitchy’s story resulted in a flood of righteous indignation:

Butler apparently had a very difficult time grasping that freedom of expression is a two-way street, and she soon protected her Twitter account. Her supporters agreed with this cowardly course of action, and they wanted her to know that they had her back:

Awww … poor baby.

Meanwhile, citizens familiar with the freedoms guaranteed to us in the Constitution exercised their right to free speech and rightly blasted Butler for her hit-and-run brand of anti-American garbage and religious bigotry:

One U.S. Army veteran reminded Butler of the sacrifices countless Americans have made in order to protect the rights of people like her to act like complete jackasses:

Boom. Couldn’t’ve said it better ourselves.

The plot thickens: Filmmaker ‘Sam Bacile,’ blamed for embassy attacks, does not exist

  • J.N. Ashby

So, since she’s a professor of religious studies at UPenn, should she not be fully aware of the brand of savagery that Muslim fundamentalists commit these days, and, as such, be more than prepared to give said savagery its due condemnation EVERY time?

    • Brian Sprouse

The problem is she is not looking at this from an unbiased point of view. If it were a file insulting christians she would have had no problem with it.

      • J.N. Ashby

Nor should she. She shouldn’t have a problem with this movie either. She’s a dumb bell.

  • Tom Creamer«

Can’t wait to hear the left railing against the intolerance of those who don’t support the idiotic comments of this “esteemed” member of academia. This of course from the same lefties who wage a war against Catholics and were outraged by the re-insertion of God into their DNC platform.

    • J.N. Ashby

“She’s black so she can make whatever insipid remarks she likes, and you must agree or your a racist, especially if you’re white and disagree. Also, she’s right and you’re a racist for condeming their actions. Their way of life is just different. Not better nor worse, you racist!” -Any Democrat. Pick one. Yes, especially that one.

    Anthea Butler acted stupidly.

    • reachrenee

But she looks like Obama’s grandmother

      • weRbroke

I did a double take, I thought I saw Don King for a second

        • reachrenee

          LOL One in the same!

  • Love of Country

She looks like a finger pointing racist.

  • Darrell

Somebody kill that thing on top of her head!

  • tjp77

    Liberal logic:

Stealing tens of thousands of classified documents and releasing them online, putting troops and confidential informants in mortal danger and you’re a free speech hero.

Making a stupid low-budget film that insults some Muslims, however, and you’re a criminal that should be in jail.

  • allenbarr

butler can be the new press secretary

  • NWFL Conservative

Quintessential spineless behavior. Drop a turd in the punchbowl and then split the party before you can get called on it.

At the risk of sounding like one of those “hate mongering, racist Republicans”, it sure looks like she has a very large Brillo pad stuck on top of her head in that photo.

  • Joey Cosentino

Anthea Butler is the poster child for anti-American left wing extremism. She is part of the problem that divides our country. In the name of tolerance she spreads hate and discord. While reaping the benefits of a free nation she tears down that nation and sympathizes with its attackers instead of fighting for the freedom that gives her the platform to make her idiotic statements.

  • fivegreatkids

So where are her public statements condemning the msm’s comments making fun of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons)? You know, Mitt’s religion.

  • DANEgerus

3… 2… 1… The next Affirmative Action professor to tie a hangmans noose around their doorknob and squeal “hate crime” will be…. @AntheaButler

  • stuckinIL4now

@AntheaButler Are you really so ignorant as to believe that this is Sam Bacile’s fault? How did you ever become a professor, so sad.—

She bought her degree at the local dimestore–she should go get a refund.

  • usnavy83

another libearl deciding what we other rubes should have as “free speech.”

  • Richard Blaine

High schools don’t even try to teach civics anymore, do they?

  • mkreider

I guess freedom of speech is only for liberals. Liberals can say the most vile, despicable things and that is OK. Political correctness has run amok in this country. I would rather people would feel free to express themselves without being condemned. That way we would actually get an idea of what people mean.

  • Proud2bfromtheUSA

Perhaps the University needs to have her brain scanned because apparently senile dementia has begun to creep in. I mean what kind of idiot suggest jail time for a person who creates an offensive media vehicle when you yourself have created an equally offensive media vehicle, Just because those she targeted to offend don’t routinely kill people doesn’t mean she is not equally offensive. Those offended by her work were mature enough to merely look at her as an idiotic anomaly not indicative of people in possession of all their faculties. Unfortunately the purveyors of the religion of peace are not capable of reaching that level of maturity.

Watching returning troops because they may be domestic terrorists. Suing to allow sharia law in court cases. Arresting border agents for doing their jobs. Snubbing congress on documents requested by congress over fast and furious. Blowing off security meetings. Snubbing our allies request for meetings, citing conflicting schedules, the conflicting schedule was for campaigning. Giving the muslim brotherhood 1.8 billion dollars. Talking about prosecuting the seal who wrote a book, citing classified info, when you really are after him because he goes against you. The list goes on and on. Obama and his minions will go after the film maker at the behest of people like her. You know the ones, I have a phd and you are too stupid to even breath the same air as i do. Look at her followers, same thing. But then i must be a “misguided individual” for not following the elitist views of the left. Time to go down to the store owned by a Yemeni national, oh thats right they attacked an embassy too, get my coffee and rip into him for while.

  • Grumpa Grumpus

    Progressives need to be informed:
after 2 or 3 hits from The Ugly Stick(tm) you’re supposed to stop!

The daily whompings w/der Ugly Stick(tm) you Proggies obviously employ are simply an unnecessary waste of its power.

Whatever happened to your blandishments to only lightly employing Gaia’s Gifts? Keep it up & you’ll use it up.

  • Kevin Krom

The whole point of freedom of speech is to PROTECT speech that others might find “offensive” or “disruptive”. I don’t have to agree with someone’s position to defend their right to voice it.

Now, of course with freedom comes responsibility, but as many have noted, responsibility seems to be levied by the PC left in a hypocritical manner. If someone insults Christianity, and some nutjobs start rioting because of it, then it’s the nutjobs’ fault. (As it should be.) But insult Islam, with Muslims rioting, and it’s the person who issued the original insult that’s at fault. Why? What’s the difference?

The only logical way to reconcile the inconsistency would be that the PC left believes that Muslims are incapable of behaving like rational human beings, whereas Christians are so capable. This is clearly a believable position that the PC left can adhere to, as we see in their treatment of ethnic minorities (the soft bigotry of low expectations, it’s sometimes called). But such an attitude flies in the face of the PC left’s insistence that all beliefs are morally equivalent.

  • Mack Arlington

So apparently yes, Anthea is as stupid as she looks in her pics
