Left falls for fake Romney quote: ‘I can relate to black people, my ancestors once owned slaves’

Did Romney really say that? A lot of people on Twitter think so. The quote originally appeared in the Free Wood Post and was re-published at GhanaNation.com. So it must be true!

We feel a bit sick too. Apparently none of these people read the Free Wood Post’s disclaimer:

All news articles contained within FreeWoodPost.com are fiction, and presumably fake news.

It isn’t the first time the Left has disseminated fake quotes to make the Romneys look bad. With 58 days left to Election Day, we can be pretty sure it won’t be the last.

  • Joe Barry Richardson

Liberals will make up as many lies about Romney as they can. After all they are following the biggest liar of all. They are first racist and second scared Romney may actually take the Presidency away from Oblame-a. Maybe if Obama stood up like a man to the people rather than hide behind BLAME.

  • John Sawyer

next thing you know they will be quoting the Onion news!

  • Matt Donahue

What is even more frightening is that 90% of these sheeple will not take back anything they said once they find out its not true. And they will still vote. Proof that critical thinking is dead. Would Romney or Obama really say something that damn dumb and polarizing with 58 days left to go. And yes VizBiz I believe his dad was.

    • peteee363

would ronmey, no, would obama, yes! obama lives to hand out untruthful lies, and he does it everyday.

      • http://www.facebook.com/mickey.byrd.12 Mickey Byrd

This may not be popular but I don’t think it’s fair to say that Obama would say this… nor Biden nor Ryan nor Romney nor any sane person running for political office…. nor me for that matter. Some things are not funny, are not satire, are not acceptable to be published nor said.
IMHO, this has no semblance to saying things like “Romney will destroy this or that… or Obama will destroy this or that. This is a meanness and mindset that few Americans hold. At some point we need to join with other Americans in an effort to ignore these irresponsible sites simply by not going to them. Let them live the rest of their editorial lives in solitary confinement.

        • peteee363

it might not be popular, or even correct. obama has no trouble calling romney a felon, or a tax cheat, what would stop him from saying this?

    • Adam

So, funny story. A buddy posted one of FWPs articles on FB bashing Romney. 20 replies in a few minutes, I post that I hope he realizes its satire… Silence. Never even acknowledged it.

      • http://www.facebook.com/nat.coomer Nat Coomer

No offense to your buddy……..but does he know the meaning of satire?

    • Wishsong

Matt, exactly right. My best friend’s wife (extremely liberal) had the latest hollywood meme posted to her facebook profile. It was the tweet from Seth Rogan saying that Romney’s campaign slogan was the same as the KKK’s in the 20’s. Of course, it had a bunch of thumbs up and remarks from all of her idiot socialist friends. I posted the link to snopes on there that shows that it’s a hoax, and she messages me “yeah I know, I saw that. But I still hate Romney so whatever.”

This attitude pretty much typifies the left.

My sympathies to your friend, WarLlama.

      • http://ealanm.myopenid.com/ Tedd

That attitude isn’t confined to politics, though. I once got an email from a friend with the screaming subject line, “Don’t use your cell phone at a gas station.” It included a video of a guy’s car catching fire at a gas station. One problem though: nobody in the video was using a cell phone. When I pointed that out, the answer I got was, “Okay, but I still think it was worth passing on.” It did not matter to this person at all that there was no connection between the warning and the evidence.

I don’t know what that means or if it’s connected to political orientation, but it’s disappointing, regardless.

    • redheadgrl

More frightening is that 90% will never find out it is not true, they will continue to believe it. Just like most of my black friends believe the US created the AIDS virus specifically to kill all black people on the planet. No joke. They really believe it.

      • badspock

Which is pretty funny considering that, in the early days of the epidemic, blacks were saying that “Black people are immune to aids because it’s God’s judgement against whites.” Suddenly, it rages across Africa, and it’s now created to kill blacks…even though whites still get it.

Libs will ‘block and report as spam’, and since it’s an automated system, it reads that you are not a follower/following the person you’re replying to and will auto-suspend your account. It’s the defense mechanism of the libs, and touted as an attack against conservative tweeters.

This is now considered a fact to a certain segment of society. Once a falsehood has been repeated enough, there is no going back. (See: Palin – I can see Russia from my house.)

I’m sure this kind of thing will continue, and get much more outrageous. And it will have a bigger and bigger negative effect on Romney as the election nears. This is how the Obama people win elections. I hate to say it, but I think the only way to to combat this is to start our own Twitter war of outrageous Obama quotes. We can either maintain our dignity & let them steal the election with lies, or start to fight fire with fire in order to save our country.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Adam-Nichols/612533431 Adam Nichols

Obama told reporters “The private sector is doing fine,” as he attributed the 20% actual unemployment rate to a lack of government jobs.
“Obamacare is NOT a tax.” “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” “The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system.” “You can’t just make stuff up. That’s one thing you learn to do as President.”
“Of the many responsibilities granted to a president by our Constitution, few are more serious or more consequential than selecting a Supreme Court justice. BS I still pay taxes chief.

          • n2sooners

I am 100% and pay no federal or state income taxes on those benefits. I also don’t pay property tax, vehicle tax, or sales tax (love Oklahoma). And as I said in another post, this just has to do with the remark about not allowing people to vote if they don’t pay federal income taxes. Could you imagine that passing and then politicians eliminating taxes for anyone making less than they do? Then a majority of Americans wouldn’t be able to vote.

    • Postbackxp

What that would disenfranchise the moron vote which is 98% of the Dems
      base. Can’t have that.

    • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

It should be the way it used to be: you used to have to own land/property of some sort. It would make sense to have a vested interest in voting to keep the government small and out of your way.

      • Chip Snow

My wife and I talk about this all the time. If the government starts talking about property tax levies, I strongly believe that only landowners should be able to vote, because it affects them directly. While a presidential election, we feel, everyone should be able to vote. Of course, I’m probably simplifying it way too much.

        • Jesse Strode

I don’t disagree that property owners have a vested interest in what happens with their property, but I think there are more issues that go beyond topic of property that everyone should have a vote on.

      • Pete_EE

How about a House in control of spending and a Senate in control of everything else. Only allow net taxpayers (net contributors to the public purse) to vote for the House.

        • n2sooners

And wouldn’t that give them the power to control their voter base by controlling who pays taxes? They give you a big enough tax cut and suddenly you can no longer vote. Then they just start charging fees or raising indirect taxes such as business taxes. Just too scary the type of control that would give the people who have already passed a law requiring you to buy a product or be fined.

          • brotherStefan

“And wouldn’t that give them the power to control their voter base by controlling who pays taxes?”

No, it would not. You see, there’s a hole in your theory. How do you think your theoretical “controlling of tax cuts” would impact the expected revenue of said controlling party?

          • n2sooners

That’s easy, they replace the taxes with something they say isn’t a tax. If it is based on income taxes, they institute a sales tax. Or they simply raise taxes on corporations which in turn raise prices to cover the cost of those taxes then they aren’t taxing the people directly at all. Or they institute the dreaded VAT tax. If they are allowed to take away the rights of anyone, then they can take away the rights of everyone. Either voting is a right, or it isn’t.

The only vote I could support being taken away is the right of the people to vote for their senators. The senate was meant to represent the states, not the people, and it should be returned that way. If senators had to answer to the lawmakers of the state they would be much less likely to support bills which put a burden on the states.

          • Pete_EE

Protesters demanding to be taken off welfare and voting to ensure they are in the tax base! I am failing to see the downside.

          • n2sooners

Then you aren’t looking for one. There are lots of downsides, but the biggest on is if lawmakers can take away the right to vote then it is no longer a right but a privilege, and they can take it away from anyone for any reason and once they take it away you have to recourse other than revolution to get it back.

      • n2sooners

Eminent domain. A scary prospect that the government could literally take away your right to vote.

In addition, there are about 82 million Americans who are between 20-30 years of age, who have grown up indoctrinated to think that everything is easy, everything should be handed to them in return for no effort (Sandra Fluke, this means you) and can’t fathom any other way of thinking. Perhaps some readers here have run across them in life; I know I have: 22 year olds who think they should be paid 65K a year even though they have no skills, no experience and no idea of how to perform the job they want, 25 year olds who’s only goal in life is to have enough cash to buy weed and booze on the weekend and the hell with everything else (including supporting their children or the horrible concept of ‘having a career’), children of wealthy parents, who have just gotten out of college, have never paid for anything in their young lives and spout talking points from MSNBC but cannot actually explain what those points mean nor back them up with any factual data, 27 year olds who know every move of Rihanna but have never actually read the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.

This is a third of the voting population. So if they actually get off their ass for once in their lives and vote, Obama just might win. And God help us if he does.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Don’t believe polls, they have been admitted to be skewed to favor Democrats. Whatever Obama has, you’ll have to subtract 5-7 points to account for the skewed sample sizes.

  • Steve Shay

Obama in his speech said, “Romney referred to Russia as the nation’s No. 1 enemy, the GOP nominee is ‘still stuck in a Cold War mind warp.'”

This is what Romney actually said, “This is without question our number one geopolitical foe; they fight for every cause for the world’s worst actors. The idea that he has more flexibility in mind for Russia is very, very troubling indeed,” he saidThe presidential hopeful cited this case, along with the new START treaty and the decision to reduce missile defense sites in Poland and Alaska, as “unfortunate developments.”
While saying that the greatest current threat to the world is a “nuclear Iran,” he lambasted Russia for consistently“standing up for the world’s worst actors,” referencing the Russian veto of the Security Council resolutions on Syria.

Zobamies like these are freakin hilarious, they will act like they believe a lie and pretend to be so outraged, wait a minute, some of these idiots really do believe it, but it’s all a load of BS to divert attention from the truth. And they accuse Republcans of using Nazi tactics, really?

  • BigTBoom

What is worse is that this is a regurgitated issue from 6 months ago! The Free Wood Press initially posted the article in MARCH!!!!!!!

They eventually figured it out back in then…but judging from Twitter…You really cannot fix stupid.

The dems are out of ammo, so now it is time to fabricate some

  • runew

What a bunch of stupid liars, I bet the “quote” came out in a Black Democrat rag paper. Everyone knows the Blacks will start lies to keep getting their “Obama bucks”.

  • TheMadKing

Why does the left keep biting on these obvious fish hooks? Easy. They Want To Believe. Nobody’s easier to con than someone who’s already sold.

  • Grandma HeadInjury

Based on the propensity for African nations to actively participate in the slave trade, I am guessing a certain person of Kenyan descent could ACTUALLY say this….

  • Julie Auler

honestly, people…you’re smarter than this, why think such dumb lies…it’s so obvious they’re trying to smear Romney…check your facts…

  • Donimal61

This is a propaganda trick which relies on source amnesia… tell a lie, and even tell them it is not true… over time many will only rember the “fact” which was told as a lie.

not surprising…. the typical obama voter is pretty stupid.

      That’s racist…or somehting.

  • Love of Country

150 years after the Democrats fought to keep their slaves and 75 years after they gave us the KKK, Jim Crow Laws and Segregation …. they’re still 100% obsessed with controlling black people in this country.

Thanks to the DNC, black people today haven’t been in such bad shape since the GOP ended DNC Jim Crow and DNC Segregation. In fact, in many ways, thanks to Barack Owebamao’s, Harry Reid’s and Nancy Pelosi’s DNC ….. they are worse off today than they have ever been since all the way back to the awful days of slavery …. crime and fatherlessness have NEVER been this high thanks to today’s DNC and their unholy obsession to control black people strictly in the name of creating straight ticket voters for life.

If you’re a black democrat up in arms and tweeting your ass off with feigned indignation about the lies on Mitt Romney perpetrated by your white plantation keepers then you really need to have your head examined. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have you exactly where they want you …. in one violent, racist cesspool with seemingly no where to turn except to the voting booth to continue the ugly cycle …. it’s called Stockholm Syndrome!

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

They are just salty their own people sold them into slavery in the first place.

      • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

        A very inconvenient truth indeed

        • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Indeed. That pesky thing, ‘truth’, you know.

  • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Wait, where are all the comments from black people saying, “I can relate to white people, my ancestors were sold as slaves to whites by our own people in Africa.”

Or, “I can relate to latinos, our own people deported our ancestors centuries ago”.

  • Edgar DeCanniere

  • Postbackxp

Dems will believe anything but the truth.
When you vote November just remember you voting for you’re hard earned paycheck
When the Dems vote they are also voting for you’re hard earned paycheck. To be added
    to their
GOVERNMENT BENEFITS, EBT card refills, foodstamps, free collage so they will never have to work Obama care so granny can die and they can get her stuff.

  • Norma

This is a lie. Do you know who started the KKK? The Democrats

    • BeeKaaay

The KKK was the terrorist arm of the Democrat party. Replaced by the Black Panthers.

  • Lara Martinez

Total retards. Do they ever look at the source? Why am I bothering to ask–they are used to passive spoon feeding from their Daddy Barry.

  • Sharon Phillips

Easy to spot those same fools that believe every word out of O’s lieing mouth! This is a FAKE quote sheeple, Romney never said this…but the dems. did hand out buttons at the DNC saying “Once you vote black, you never go back”! Hmmmmm, now who’s playing the race card? Geez, learn to think for yourselves!

Here is what’s pathetic.. almost to a word the comments posted here….will be the same comments by us “lefties” about the “righties”…If I didn’t know I was on a site favored by conservatives…I would swear this was a site favored by liberals….We have been had. I do wonder who is behind all this hate mongering..

  • Chip Snow

My ancestors did, in fact, own slaves. Look in a phone book in Georgia, look up the name Cargile. You’ll find a ton of them, 90% are probably black. Not proud of it, but not ashamed of it either. It’s history.

As for the quote, total hogwash. I ditto Thomas Baranowski’s comment. Time to start verifying IQs as well before one can vote.

  • http://www.facebook.com/MIGHTYMOJOHAND Bill Naylor

This is it. I give up. I’m joining the Obama nation and signing up for my food stamps.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_S76XIS53F7LSF4SGCB4GQ4HH4Q rifleman

This just confirms how stupid liberals are. One person can create a “quote” and they run with it w/o even bothering to Google it and verify it. If I said Obama called someone a Navy “corpsemen” would they believe it? Or if Biden tells a man in a wheel chair to “stand up”, would they believe it? Obama says there are 57 states, but what do they say? (All true of course). No, they’ll believe anything that fits their warped worldview and narrative but ignore the idiotic things their Masters say…

  • Brad Donald

Just checked out a lot of what freewood press puts out. Its almost all against the right. Its a disinfo site for the left wing.

  • fivegreatkids

wow! Sad commentary on a number of people who actually get to vote for our president! How can folks be so gullible? Mind boggling actually….

  • Diggsc

Funny thing is, Obama’s ancestors in Africa probably DID own slaves. Muslims owned slaves up until the 1960’s, so the slave owning ancestors of Obama may not be that far in the past.

    • JohnWest

Muslims still own slaves, they are called women.

  • Hank Seiter

Liberals must have been lobotomized at birth or they’re simply congenital idiots.

  • http://kgbudge.com kgbudge

What makes you think any of these people care whether it’s true or not? It’s what they want to believe; that’s good enough for them.

Believing outrageous stuff because it’s what we want to believe about our opponents is a trap that we conservatives should be careful not to fall into. (You hear me, birthers?) We don’t have the mass media in the tank for us to turn a blind eye when we’re stupid. Yes, it’s unfair, but it’s how it is.

I seem to recall but I may be wrong a thanksgiving day message from Sarah Palin where she mocked in a clever way all the stupid things that Obama had said during his election run and presidency. Within no time the left were attributing the stupid things Obama had said to Sarah Palin.

  • Adela Wagner

Reminds me of when Obama said **”I can relate to Islam Extremists, one actually paid for my Harvard education”**
Disclaimer:**I may be making this up, but actually until we can see the actual Harvard records, I might not be.**

    what a bunch of idiots

  • n2sooners

I was just giving one example of people who pay no taxes who most would say should have as much right as anyone to vote. And as much fun as it is to talk about how some shouldn’t be allowed to vote (or reproduce for that matter), this is America where even the stupid, ignorant, and lazy have rights, and disabled veterans are among those who have fought to protect those rights.

  • SDN

Then they’ll have a VA ID. You are dense, aren’t you.

  • jdkchem

Depending on the discharge and disability they may still have a military ID

  • n2sooners

I was replying to the remark above about not allowing people to vote if they don’t pay federal income taxes. That has nothing to having an ID. You really shouldn’t call people dense if have no idea what they are talking about.
